The first word that comes to mind YUM! We stopped in on our way back to Ft. Lauderdale and it was a really cool little burger joint. Florida Boy Burger decorated with Gators and old style Florida. The menu is full of creative delicious combos. I had the Miami Heat, chicken sand Delicious! So I've been wanting to try this place for 6 months. I built it up in my mind so there was no way this place could meet my expectations. Walked in and craved to try their gator bites, fried frog legs and Suwannee sampler of trio sausages with a beer or two! At the last minute, we changed our minds and just opted for burgers. We ordered a simple or original burger with cheese, lettuce and tomato with fries and a "McGregor" burger, a lamb patty with caramelized onions, cheddar and aiola sauce. The simple burger is made with a 4 oz patty and could be a little bigger 6 oz or 8 oz patty! The McGregor burger is amazing, the aiola sauce is oozing and added a savory taste to the lamb burger! We came with family and some of their friends. We had good and entertaining service from Crispy (he said his name is like bacon!). The decor might be a bit off putting with stuffed gator heads on each table and a few baby alligators in an aquarium! Among other things. I tried not to look too closely. Meanwhile, they had a plethora of unusual burgers and sandwiches with a variety of toppings, the burgers were huge. My son in law tried one that had peanut butter and jelly on it. My husband had their frog legs appetizer -- and got the teens to try a bite. A couple had the cheeeeze sandwich and one gal a salad. I had their bao buns appetizer. It was like 3 burger sliders with their take on a Big Mac. I had them leave off the onions. Other than their being a bit too much pickle relish, the sweet bao buns with their burgers and toppings were quite good. It turned out to be a choice place for all ages. A family dinner along with some baseball family friends here at Florida Boy tonight. Being a native Florida Boy, I appreciate some of the traditional recipes and food, also the eclectic inspired Burgers crafted here. Burgers with Peanut Butter and Jelly and Bacon were tempting but I chose the Florida Croacker as my dish. Served on top of a Garlic pesto and lemon, my three Frog Leg servings were as delicious as I remember them. My Girlfriend (Sydney) and I got served by Sydney....whaaat? Yes our waitress had the same spelling. She was also very sweet and cool. Food: to my own discredit.. I wouldn't get the McGregor lamb burger again. It was a bit chewy and lacked flavor. I had originally eyed the kid wonder? Burger. #goals4nexttime. The truffle fries were hot and crispy. What a great burger place! Funky and different, busy, busy, busy at lunch which is a good thing. The decorations are well pretty much Early American Alligator and not much else. They even had three live alligators in a tank as you walk in (the tank needs to be cleaned). i had the nicest, kindest, most patient server EVER! I hat that I forgot her name. She was working the whole floor and no one waited for anything. I had a bacon cheeseburger (minus the BBQ sauce). The bacon should have a smokier flavor, but the cheese was good, and the beef quality was excellent. An 8 oz. patty was a lot! They even have an option to get Florida beef for $3.00 more. So i've been eye bawling this place for a few months and finally made the tine to go and explore it. The restaurant has some nice decor inside very hip style. Defiantly gives you the florida vibe so A+ on matching the name. I specially liked the food prep area being visible almost giving me dinner vibes. The staff was prompt and very knowledgeable on all the food they provide. Very quick to sit and place orders. There wasn't a-lot going on when we first arrived but quickly got busy in there. Burger was a good burger. Got pink as i requested and the bacon was thicker than a snicker! I would have liked the burger a bit hotter but it did nothing to the taste which was spot on. Based on the online menu, we thought this would be a higher end, unique restaurant. Stopped in for a late lunch after work to scope out to bring out of town family as an unusual "Florida spot". Initially I thought it looked like a basic cafe sort of place, not really indicative of the high prices. We ordered beer off a list on the wall, we could barely see it from where we sat, but that was apparently the only beer list. Everything was cans. No draft. Our appetizers were not at all as expected, the fried pickles and the shrimp tasted exactly the same, over fried and both had the same bland sauce. The shrimp was hard and tough. My husband got a burger, it was also over cooked and bland. He was super disappointed and didn't even finish it. I ordered the cheese sandwich and it was terrible. It was two pieces of garlic bread with cheese and it was so dry m, hard, and bland. Our waitress was nice enough to take it off our bill when she noticed I didn't eat it, but our bill was still over $70. The beer and wine menu is on a huge wall chalk board, menu explains many hallmark burgers and of course sides. There were 4 in our party; 1-had the 47th truffle burger and 3-had Alligator Alley (since we all enjoy a classic burger). 3-had regular fries and 1-had truffle fries. 47th truffle burger was enjoyed with much enthusiasm and would definitely come back again; especially since she enjoyed the key lime shake. As for the 3-Alligator Alley burgers; meh. Main complaint: Burgers are NOT seasoned = bland burger. Knowing this from other friends who have eaten here, I asked for a friend egg on my burger. Nope. I had to have it on the side as they do not like to change the original-ness of the burgers prepared; at least that's what our waiter told me. Taste? It was an okay burger, big, but just okay. Truffle fries were very good but very rich and the regular fries were cooked pretty well. I really wanted to like this burger but I couldn't get past the fact that there was absolutely NO flavor to the beef. The place was freezing and there was a large vent above that area and our food got cold fast. The Leslie Chow Fries were different but so good. The Cypress Swine was tasty specially them cucumbers inside but the toasted bun reminds me of a McDonald bun. After hearing so many glowing reviews about Florida Boy Burgers, we wanted to see if the hype was real. We started by ordering sweet tea, but we asked the questions we always ask: 1) Is it freshly brewed or pre-made? Answer: Freshly brewed--awesome. And 2) Is it "sweet tea" or "sweetened tea"? There's a huge difference. Answer: Sweet tea--awesome again! It was very good sweet tea, served in a Mason jar, which somehow just seems to help it taste even better. For an appetizer, we ordered the Truffle Shuffle Fries. The flavor was really nice, but they needed to be tossed a bit better. Most of the truffle oil and Parmesan seemed to pool at the bottom of the tray instead of being incorporated throughout the fries. Not a major complaint, but when I eat truffle fries, I always compare them to what I believe to be the area's gold standard: Artisan Eatery. Maybe it's not fair to compare, but it happens naturally. The sriracha ketchup was really nice, though I tend to prefer an aioli for dipping my truffle fries. For the meal, being a lifelong Dolphins fan, I was certainly tempted to order the Marino, but I couldn't pass up the 47th Truffle Burger--and it did NOT disappoint. I ordered it medium, and it was perfectly cooked. The flavor of the ground beef patty alone would bring me back to Florida Boy. I've never thought of the combination of fried mushrooms, arugula, Gruyère and pecorino, truffle mayo, and sriracha ketchup before, but man, am I glad they did! I devoured the burger while savoring each bite. There isn't a thing I would change about the burger--it was fantastic. For my side, I ordered the Mac and Cheese. Many places serve dry or gritty mac and cheese, but this was smooth and creamy with great flavor, and the cracked pepper on top helped bring out the depth of flavor. The burger and mac and cheese were the perfect combo. When our server told us about the warm, medium-rare cookies with ice cream, it was a no-brainer. The chocolate chip cookies were just about perfect and, again, perfectly cooked. The vanilla ice cream was a little bland and had frost on it, which seemed to indicate it had been in the freezer too long. I'd prefer a more flavorful ice cream like Yoder's or maybe Love Boat, to stay on theme with a Florida-based menu. That said, at the end of the meal, the ice cream was gone, so it wasn't all that bad--clearly. The service was really good. Multiple people checked in on us and made sure we had everything. However, we did ask for a side of ranch that never showed up, and our drinks sat empty for a while, so that's something they could improve on. Still, everyone we spoke to had a great attitude and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs, which is more and more of a rarity these days. It's not perfect, but it's darn good, and I plan on adding this to a more frequent rotation once the new Cape Coral location opens! read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! It smells good in here, has a cool yet chill vibe. The menu is pretty kickass. We got the fritters and they were really tasty, nice crunch, fresh. The dipping sauce was good too. We got a blackened Rambo and it was so full of flavor!! The alligator sausage was a little spicy, savory, the blackened crabmeat with pimento cheese, all of that, there's more, was really good. It was a delicious flavor combination, everything complimented everything else. We loved it. The truffle fries were perfect, it was really all i wanted lol. The Mac & cheese was creamy, felt decadent and we tasted a hint of cumin, Chef said no. He finally figured out that the flavor was from the blend of different peppercorns!! SO COOL!! This is an awesome new local spot not to be missed! The decor inside is all real Florida - from the beautiful Everglades sunset wall mural to the alligator head table decorations. Service was IMPECCABLE. We had multiple servers helping us and constantly attentive to any need. They were super helpful with questions. The food was great. My friend and I both got the Bronco drink (orange creamsicle) which was YUM. They have crunchy ice! We then shared the watermelon and shrimp salad. Florida Boy Burger 7-29-24 This place just opened today, and I thought we would give it a try. We got there around 3:10pm and got a table right away. This place was neat and clean and the vibe I got from the decor was old school Florida. Even the bathrooms looked like old Florida with all the wood trimming. Our waitress Jenny came over right away. She took our drink order and gave us menus. She came back fast with our drinks which were in mason Jars. She then took our food orders. The menu has a variety to choose from, but I believe they specialize in burgers. They will ask you how you want our burger cooked. We all said well done and my wife and I ordered a side of mayo to go along with the burger. I ordered the Swamp Stomper Burger which has Beef Patty with three thick cut Bacon Strips Extra Cheese, Florida Sauce, and French Fries. My wife ordered the The Marino which came with Sliced Heirloom Tomatoes, Prosciutto, Burrata Cheese, House made Pesto, Drizzled in Olive Oil on a Toasted Bun with Fries. My dad ordered a Plan Burger and Fries. Our food came out fast and all of it was hot. The presentation with the Steak Knife and the metal tin for the Fries on a wooden board was a notch above. We all loved our Burgers and Fries, everything tasted fresh, and burgers were thick and big. The Bacon on my Burger was amazing best tasting bacon I had in a long time. Our waitress Jenny came over a couple times to check on us and bring us more to drink. I believe this is a must stop for Burgers. They do have a blackboard full of Steak Specials and Alcohol Drinks posted on the back of the front wall. I know this was the first day they opened and there are some kinks to be worked out. I believe it would be better to have some salt and pepper shakers along with Ketchup on the tables or have the waitress deliver them at time of food delivery. These Burgers are so big it would be nice to have a plastic or metal fork to go along with the Knife they give you. I will mention they have an outside patio area with tables for those that like to eat outdoors. The owner came over and introduced himself as Dominick or just Dom. He was very friendly and talked to us for a good while about what went into making this place come alive. He also stated they are looking into opening others up in the Cape or Punta Gorda areas. Great Food, Fun to Look Around A group of us were planning to go out somewhere and we heard about this new burger place opening on Del Prado in Cape Coral so we gave it a try. They were a little hard to find as they didn't have a large sign up yet and are located at the end of a strip mall, but we got there. The restaurant is not real wide, but is long. Some tables up front and down the left side to the rear. The bar area, some eat at counter space and kitchen are to the right. As soon as you walk in you'll see a jumbo aquarium with baby aligators. (Relax, they are here under license as part of a save the gator program. All cleared with Florida Fish and Game.) There are gator decorations all over and the walls have many old southwest Florida photos. No tap beers at our visit, but they did have some crafts in cans. Not sure how I discovered it, but they have a really cool Pabst Blue Ribbon deal - $2 for a 16 ounce can, served in a brown paper bag. What fun! We ordered a few starters. Ya Heard Me Fries ($16) were spectacular, but I don't think they are available any more. Cajun seasoned fries topped with an abundant amount of blue crab meat, drizzled with a special sauce and some shaved pecorino cheese and scallions. THE BOMB!! I think we also got some Gator Bites and not sure if they are still on the menu. We also tried the Drunken Shrimp ($16). Six Key West jumbo shrimp deep fried with a very delicate tempura style batter, topped with some secret sauce. Great! My wife got the Del Boca Vista Birria Grilled Cheese ($16). A large toasted garlic bread grilled cheese sandwich with birria-braised beef, mozerella cheese, chopped onions and cilantro served with a side of consome for dipping. She loved it! One of our diners had the Greens as a side. Roasted whole garlic cloves, kale, brussels sprouts and maybe more, with bacon, a dressing and cheese. Outstanding! I had the Swamp Stopper burger ($18) with Mac and Cheese as a side. These are all of 1/2 pound of great tasting Florida beef. Perfectly grilled to my requested medium rare, topped with thick cut bacon, lots of American cheese and BBQ sauce. The Mac and Cheese is special. No way could I finish, especially after the appetizers so I had lunch the next day. As luck would have it, Louis?, one of the owners, stopped in and asked about our meal, what we liked, what we didn't, and thanked us for the business. We have been seeing the commercials on TV and have heard several people tell us how great it was, so yesterday was our day to give it a try. The first thing, it is easy to get to (other than rush hour traffic) because it is right there at Colonial & Fowler. We walked in an knew it was our kinda place with a very casual atmosphere. We got there at a great time (1600), because it wasn't busy. We sat at the short bar (we love sitting on stools more than chairs), which gave us the opportunity to talk with Chrispin "Crispy" & Lt. Dan get the low-down on so much about the place, the menu, and numerous other things. The menu is well thought out and appeals to people from Florida because of the catchy names for everything, which are relative to FLA & and more closely to SWFL. We loved the fact that two of our favorite beers (PBR and Busch Light) are $2 all the time. We decided to split a 47 Truffle Burger with Truffle fries. Let me tell you, watching the burgers being made on the grill in plain sight and smelling the smoke fill the room just kicked the taste buds into overdrive. The burger was top-notch and was exactly like we expected and what was described on the menu. The truffle fries were absolutely awesome.
