I come in regularly - scones are great with a mixture of thoughtful interesting flavors and the coffee is good. I recommend this place to anyone coming into town and love to support small businesses. My one consistent issue is with the customer service. For such a cute place in the heart of town, I really hope for a friendly staff that is invested in their product and in their customer. I don't expect anything over the top, but every time I visit, it's as if the staff is inconvenienced by me coming in. I don't think I've ever been greeted, always feel rushed when making a decision, and they just aren't very helpful. For a bakery with creative options, you'd think that the staff would enjoy making recommendations - maybe their favorite scone of the moment, maybe they ask what you typically like and point you to a flavor you may enjoy. The way the bakery is set up does show they value customer service as a concept, they even leave nice notes on your coffee cup, which I enjoy. It just doesn't translate all the way through to their staff, which in my opinion is a missed opportunity. If they could get that right, this place would be a solid 5 stars. read more

Asked employee and she said she did not know what extra fees are. If adding a service charge, should be disclosed and consistent amount or percentage (not different everytime). Seems dishonest. Scones are ok and food tasted fine, other than the rubber, microwave paper thin bacon. The microgreens had a hint of mint, which didn't pair well with avocado, eggs, and bacon. A whole slice of lemon, rind, seeds, and all was served under the greens, and had to be fished out. BUYER BEWARE, don't ever buy a gift card from this shop! My friend got us a gift card and we went in to redeem it. Once there they tell me I cannot use it. Why? Apparently my friend didn't include another page with some number code on it that's "necessary" because of their lack of technology... EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT CODES ON IT! One a barcode and one a QR code. They tell me that there are no scanners they can use. Wtf??? It's 2023, get with the times, even a cell phone app could take care of that with no need to purchase a special scanner for the store. Not like I can call my friend up and have her find this number for me... I say this to them and they tell me the number should be in the email receipt, I mean come on!?! How likely is my friend to even have that email still? Let alone call her and have her look it up for me on the spot! How absurd! Now that $25 is trash. I was clearly upset and explained to them that it's ridiculous to not have the scanner and they need to talk to their management about it. The girl told me twice that she can't do anything about it, but never once tried to resolve it in a manner that diffused my upset. What would have been a nice response would be something like, "you're right it doesn't make sense and I will talk to the manager/owner". Nope, both times she only told me there was nothing she could do, I told her again that she needs to talk to her manager about it and she never acknowledged that to say "yes I will talk to them." That's all I wanted after I clearly couldn't use the gift card that has 2 different codes on it! Honestly, it's bullshit. My husband worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years, the way to keep a customer and make sure they come back would have been to handle that completely differently. My husband knows customer service and had the manager been there the right thing to do would have been to redeem the gift card anyways, we would have left happy customers. The scones here are amazing! The texture is nice and tender and I love that they offer flavored butters, cream and jams. I had the Vanilla Bean Scone, warmed with Clotted Cream and Triple Berry Jam & it was phenom!!! The scone was $3.75 and each accompaniment (cream, jam) was $1 each. We've tried blueberry, vanilla bean, m&m, chocolate and salted vanilla brown Butter. Every time we visit we purchase at least 4 scones. The scones are incredible, just awesome and the staff is friendly. My issue is that the past two visits the staff wasn't wearing masks. I understand there's a level of mask fatigue and we all want to get back to normal but it's just grossly irresponsible to not wear a mask while you are preparing and serving food at this point. We will get back to normal soon enough but while the pandemic is still going on I cannot and will not support a business that puts my family's health at risk. I was in today to pick up my usual treat. Noticed all the workers behind the counter were all just standing around. I noticed that no one greeted the customers as they were coming in as I was waiting to get served and have my order taken. I noticed that one of the girls behind the counter did not look like she wanted to be there and had a really sour looking face she even was asked by another customer if it would be all right to reheat one of the scones, and she grabbed the bag from the man's hand after warming up the scone she threw it on a plate and threw the plate back at the man on the counter, literally. I like their scones. They are excellent. But I like my health and safety more! I am choosing not to go to this place because this is a second time I saw that the employees are not enforcing masks. There were at lest 8 women that walked in when I was making my purchase who did not wear a mask. The employees refused to ask them to wear a mask saying that they cannot do that. I am a healthcare provider and I have lost numerous patients to his pandemic. I first learned of this place from NBC4 during an interview in that they were going to stay open despite the governor's shut down order. I went there the next morning. The place was clean and there were only four other people in the location sitting at a single table together. I ordered a variety of scones. Took them home and yes, they were very good. This past Saturday, my wife came with me. The place was packed, all the tables were filled and there was a line to get to the counter. Standing in line I started noticing people coming in without masks. There was no sign noting masks were required. The woman in front of us had pulled her mask down so she could talk and laugh. The employees, while wearing masks, did not make any attempt to remind customers coming in, standing at the counter or ordering at the counter to put on their masks. No social distancing. Too many strangers packed together and many not bothering to follow safety protocols. We decided we didn't need scones that bad and left. Wanted to support a local business that was trying...but we'll pass on this one. Edit to respond: Your choosing to be on a crowded flight to and from Los Vegas has nothing to do with my desire to obey safety protocols. You're failure to place a sign on your door noting masks are required also has nothing to do with any hypocrisy on my part. Yes, your scones our great, I do not contest that and I do wish you success, but I choose not to put myself at risk by going to a location where rules that were put in place in an attempt to protect the public are ignored. When I saw that you chose to ignore the shut down order, I wrongly assumed it was because you were taking active measures to protect your customers. My family and I have frequented this location for almost 2 years now. When we go we usually spend about $40... it's a little pricey for 2 people getting a drink and a scone. But, it's one of the few places we can go to get gluten free goodies. The GF option is really the only thing we can appreciate anymore. Their "keto" scones are not GF. I don't know how or what they use because typically keto is grain free, but they are not GF. They used to have good coffee and exceptional sweet staff. The last few times we have been we have been treated poorly and our drinks were either wrong or in most cases the espresso burnt. My husband always gets the Paris tea and I would usually get some kind of latte. The second to last time we went, the latte tasted like either the milk was soured or the espresso machine had been cleaned with vinegar. I brought the drink back with 1 sip missing and explained that it tasted like something was wrong. They refused to make me something new, refund my money and wanted to charge me full price for something else. I was shocked as that i usually had never had issues with my drink in the past and then to be treated so coldly. I let that go and wrote it off to one bad experience. Last weekend on the way to church we came in and ordered scones for the family and requested that our 2 be heated up so we could delight for breakfast. We waited and waited, the cafe was not busy, but the girl who had heated our scones was distracted talking to a boy who appeared to be a friend casually for several minutes. We finally spoke up kindly asking if we could please have our scones because we didn't want to be late and received a dirty look and she sort of "tossed" our scones at us. At that point our scones were hard on the edges and we didn't have time to argue. At the same visit I had ordered Paris tea with my husband since he always seemed happy with that. We got in the car and realized that they gave us coconut flavor teas and not the Paris teas that we had ordered. That visit we dropped over $50 and left a tip at check out!! If we weren't on our way to church I would have gone back. So I called, twice requesting to speak with someone to try to explain what is happening. I have received no calls back sadly. This breaks my heart because I do love their scones and the location of downtown murrieta but I refuse to give my patronage to a small business who does not care for their customers well. read more

The employees did not ask any patrons to put masks on. This is concerning because all the scones and pastries were exposed to the open air. The scones should be covered and the employees should enforce the rules, especially when they are serving food. We purchased 5 scones: vanilla, lemon lavender, blueberry, chocolate chip, and chocolate. They all tasted the same. The flavor was brought out with the butters and creams. The texture was good, however it would be better if there was more flavor.
