The rooms are large and comfortable and nicely updated and decorated. The backyard and patio are amazing, with both a pool, a hot tub, and plenty of spaces to kick back and relax w/ a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The owners are very sweet and helpful and make a wonderful breakfast. We enjoyed eggs, sausage, and hazelnut encrusted french toast, with a cup of fruit and plenty of coffee and tea and juice. We enjoyed our stay at the R&R Guest House and highly recommend it for a quick getaway from Portland!!! Highly recommend staying here if you are in The Dalles.

Or where they were so creaky that you hesitate to use the bathroom at night for fear of waking up the whole building. Truthfully, R&R Guest House is none of those things. Kevin and Julie are friendly and will help you with as much or little guidance as you want on local hikes, wineries etc. But they aren't in your face or space... Another big highlight is that this property feels new and old at the same time. Definite charm retained in their remodeling. Yet, no feeling of "this doorknob might come off in my hand." And the hot tub and pool are very, very nice. The landscaping is lush and well laid out. Finally--the two meals we hadat this B&B was consistently the best meals we had that weekend, compared to restaurants in both Hood River and The Dalles. Not too often I give an unequivocal thumbs up, but here you go.

Life slows down so much when you're at the ranch, and it's a perfect reset just being there. The breakfast is always wonderful, and fun having conversations with other travelers. The room (Tuscan Room) was very clean, elegantly decorated and had freshly baked chocolate chip cookies on the desk when we stepped in. The jacuzzi tub was spotless and quite a treat after a long day of hiking. There was an impressive breakfast selection each morning and complimentary tea or coffee any time of the day. They even offered to pack us a snack on one of our days exploring the area. What sets this B&B apart is the people. It is owned by a wonderful family and throughout our stay we were delighted by all of them. Connie, who cooks the breakfasts and with whom we had the most interaction, was beyond helpful. We are looking at potentially relocating to the area and she helped provide more information than we could have hoped for, not to mention a sense of the quality of people who live here. The attentiveness of the whole crew really made the difference. By the time we left we felt like part of the family. They even invited us to taste test some of the wine and cheesecake they were considering serving for their special Valentine's weekend dinner at the cafe, which felt like quite an honor. We also got to tour the other rooms since they were vacant, and I can tell you, they are all decorated as tastefully as the Tuscan room. As for location, Husum is just up White Salmon River valley from White Salmon. It only took about 11 minutes to drive into White Salmon. If you are here for winter sports on Mount Adams, the location is very convenient. In the summer you are right next to the river rafting operations, as well as several seasonal food options, including the B&B's Ice House Cafe (which we sadly didn't get to try since we visited in the off season). If you have a chance to stay here, do it! This is a gem in the Gorge.

We rolled in with friends from the the area and were not disappointed... it's close to rafting, but it's also close to Mt Adams, the White Salmon River, and a very short drive to Hood River (and about an hour from Portland). The ice house has wine tasting from local vineyards, and the patio is a great place for dinner and cocktails. Can't say enough good things about the hosts, Randy and Trish. Truly great people. Try their Drunken Chicken (and don't forget about dessert)!

The BnB is perched perfectly above acres of orchards (apples and pears), with the most gorgeous view of Mt Hood from the porch. We went in January and used the BnB as a "homebase" for our snowshoeing and snowboarding adventures. Mike, Jackie's husband, is extremely knowledgable on local dining options in Parkdale (and their covid protocols), as well as secret local-known trails and routes. We had an amazing time exploring this side of 35 and feel we've discovered a treasure. Oh, and Jackie's breakfasts? AMAZING. We were well fueled for our daily adventures! And a different breakfast each day! Pancakes, Dutch Babies, Coffee Cake, French Toast, eggs, bacon, fruit (including fresh local pears!) were some of what greeted us in the mornings before we headed out. For the nitty-gritty info you want - the rooms are small but comfortable - we were able to each put a yoga mat beside our sides of the bed to do stretches, or one of us could stretch at the foot of the bed. Each room has it's own bathroom (barndoor dividing the bedroom from bathroom) with a full tub, pedestal sink, fan and bathroom heater. The bathrooms have plenty of space for two, as well as hot water for showers. There are hooks EVERYWHERE in the room for your gear to hang. The beds are comfy, with an extra memory foam topper, and plenty of warm bedding, with extra blankets if you need. The rooms have wall-heaters that get the rooms toasty! We actually had to turn ours off the first night, haha. Each room also has it's own small wall-mounted HDMI (and component) TV with satellite-tv and DVD-player, and the hosts have an extension Rom-Com selection available upon request. The communal spaces are cozy and socially distanced, as much as they can be. There's a loveseat on the upper level with a little chatty/hang out area, and the dining room downstairs has 3 tables, distanced as far apart as they can, for couples to dine at. There are only 3 rooms in the BnB, so 6 guests max, and the other 4 when we stayed wore masks like us in the common areas, and spent limited time in them. There's no mask policy (just what the state has, etc), so your experience may vary depending on what other couples are there at the same time, and what restrictions are in place. If you visit in summer or fall, there is an insanely adorable outdoor dining area with lights and plenty of space for folks to spread out. We'll likely book a stay to experience it ourselves! We sent lots of photos and notes to friends and family of our stay at the Mt Hood Bed & Breakfast, and are excited to visit Jackie & Mike again soon!

Flowers, lush green grasses and lovely foliage surround the B&B. A lovely "secret garden" as I call it, is a peaceful place to sit quietly and rest. Mt Hood shows itself majestically as we stood in awe of its beauty. We live in Alabama and the hospitality shown to us by owners Mike and Jackie, was the true southern way! Breakfast was incredible and served promptly with not only deliciousness, but presentation! With only 3 guest rooms, this made for an intimate and private weekend with our daughters family and sweet couple friends. We look forward to returning!!

This…read morevacation log mansion was crafted in 2001 on a hillside overlooking the Hood River Valley. The pictures do not do this place justice at all. The feeling you get when you walk in is that of... rustic luxury. Huge vaulted ceilings and big picture windows give this wooden palace an exceptionally open feel. To your left as you walk in the door is a kitchen that you swear Paula Dean or Dolly Parton is going to pop out of with a plate of hot biscuits. I believe the most heard exclamation I heard as people walked in for the first time was, "Holy fucking shit." I think a Catholic Priest would say the same thing. Here are the stats on the place. Four bedrooms plus a loft bedroom, four and a half bathrooms, three floors, Jacuzzi, free Wi-Fi, two patios, fully functional kitchen, two sets of washers and dryers, sleeps at least 15 by my count and the place just oozes serenity. I have stayed at the Bigfoot Lodge twice now; we rent in late October for a race that we attend near Mt. Hood City. Each time I find something I like more about the place. Great cell phone coverage, everyone in our group was either Verizon or AT&T. The Wi-Fi also worked great, the password is in the book in the kitchen. There are a few downsides to the place that are easily overlooked. Some of the furniture has been repaired with rustic matching duct tape. The stove in the kitchen is a little small and not very powerful. The downstairs brownstone shower needs a new showerhead in the worst way. That is about all the negatives I can think of. I believe the place runs about $299 a night, there are specials for extended stays as well. I can see a bunch of people using the place for skiing vacations, there have been many weddings there, family reunions, corporate retreats but one things that I keep thinking is Super Bowl!

The rooms were spacious and very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Fresh berries, eggs, bacon and coffee were scrumptious. Greg and Linda are a charming couple who really seem to love each other and what they are doing. I love the quiet. I love the grounds. I love this B&B. My husband and I took a weekend vacation away from the kids. We were lucky enough to book the cabin which is far enough away from the house to offer privacy, if you want it, but we were still able to use the amenities. There is a hot tub, beautiful grounds, and a great vegetarian breakfast, laid by chickens with names such as Pluck-a-hontas, and Feather Locklear. There was an iPod docking station in our room and no t.v. which lead to great conversations and reading time. I am still convinced that the grounds have been charmed by fairies. I felt enchanted the by the whole experience. Just so you know... I will come back again. I only don't give them five stars because the location is a little way out of town (so worth it once you see where you are) and my husband and I woke up with back aches from the bed. This may be because the bed was a queen and we need a king. Come, enjoy, and relax.
