Finding ourselves in Williamsport, PA for 48 hours, food options were limited compared to where we live. We asked around at a few local places and everyone recommended Crooked Goose. I can see why. It's got that old English pub vibe, with interesting food concoctions like the duck deviled eggs. We also had the home made pretzels, Mac and cheese with bbq chicken and fried fish sandwich. Place was charming. I loved all the books and quotes from famous authors around the restaurant. The Bar looked chic and is probably a nice spot to spend the evening, but we were here for brunch -- i would say that their standard menu looked more interesting to me but I enjoyed my "spit in your eye" or whatever it was - eggie in a basket is what I would call it - the egg and bed of spinach were nicely seasoned and the spicy dragon sauce was a nice compliment - pretty good smash burger according to my husband as well. We made reservations and easily found street parking out front and it was handicapped accessible. The waitress was incredibly sweet and accommodating, which I really appreciated. My main complaint is the pricing compared to what you actually get. The seared tuna salad came with only four slices of tuna, and the $15 nachos arrived in a bowl with so few toppings that they disappeared immediately, leaving us with basically a bowl of plain chips. That said, the atmosphere really is great. I'd probably go back, but only for drinks and maybe an appetizer that's a little harder to mess up. read more

Genuine great service. The food; out of this world. The whipped feta is to die for. The salad was so fresh. Clam chowder delicious. The cocktails last night were perfect. Great find in the heart of Williamsport. Never been to Williamsport before, but the area around this Pub had a really cool vibe and the parking was easy (5:00PM on a Friday!). The inside of the Pub itself was cool as well, lots of dark wood, booths with book themed decor, candles, etc. It was not busy when we arrived but started to fill up around 6ish when we were leaving. The service was good - quick when we needed something, not intrusive, just what you want. For the food, I'll start with the Bangers and Mash - which were just OK. The sausage was salty. Now for the highlights. The Smoked Red Devils were great as an app, and I don't love deviled eggs - but these were delicious; smokey but not overpowering, the fish roe on top added a nice, almost sweet pop. The Foragers Pie was fantastic - the beef short rib was tender and all the veggies were still firm and distinct - not mushy. Based on the flavor of the beef here I would go back and try the Short Rib Gravy and Noodles - I bet its fantastic. Wifey had the fish fry and it was GREAT. Not overly battered and oily - just a thin coating of batter on thick chunks of fresh haddock. Overall - we really enjoyed this place and would recommend. read more

Was a little cautious trying them out for the first time due to the reviews but was pleasantly surprised at our amazing experience. We had dinner a little early and were quickly seated in the outdoor patio area. Super cute and cozy. Our waitress was friendly and quick. Never once did we have to flag her down for our needs, she was proactive with drinks and anything else she thought we may need. I order the fish n chips with rosemary fries yes, I've finally found my spot for fish n chips! Soo good. And the fries were perfectly seasoned. Hubby ordered the burger special and it was gone in like 5 minutes. Ordered coffee and blueberry lemon cheesecake to share and both were a perfect ending. So happy we gave it a try! We were excited to return and stopped in on a Tuesday this time. There was no wait to be seated as they only had people at about 5 tables when we arrived. Our waitress was extremely attentive and friendly. I'm sure she was a bit bored but she definitely didn't let them come across to us. They were out of the item I was planning to get so I ended up trying the smash burger instead. My husband also got the special smash burger that day. Mine was good but I felt it was missing something that would have made it great. I can't quite put my finger on what. My husband's burger was incredibly flavorful and he quite enjoyed it. Worst service ever at a restaurant. Server seemed out of it, like she didn't know where she was. Ordered raw oysters for an appetizer and I said I wanted them before the meal and she said I'll try. I said no , I want them as an appetizer. Order our meals, French dip sandwich and a tuna steak dinner. Sandwich and a tuna SALAD came out before the oysters. Not once but twice. She came over and asked didn't you order the salad and she was told NO the dinner. She then said they will make it for you , when I said then his sandwich will come out cold, her reply was YES. My wife and I have never had an experience at the Crooked Goose as we had today. My wife's birthday. I've also never tipped as poorly as I did before any time or anyplace. Our server was really bad. Not sure what was going on with her, but she was extremely inattentive. Had to repeat every item we ordered and got pretty much an 'oh well' attitude. Felt really bad for a table near us. Dropped 2 drinks in a gentleman's lap. Soaked. Then left the table while other employees took care of her mess. They actually did all the serving at her tables mostly the rest of our time there. I suggest if you are seated in the young lady's section you ask to move somewhere else. If another section is not available, walk. I've never gave a review such as this, but her service ruined what was supposed to be a nice birthday meal at one of our favorite restaurants. More than disappointed! read more

I was excited to go to this restaurant because they offer Gluten Free food, especially fish and chips. We were pleasantly greeted and although we did not have a reservation we were accommodated. The place was rustic yet pleasant with the old signs, and large ferns. The waitress seemed "out of it" and not very attentive to what we were ordering. When our food arrived my fish and chips were not at all like what one would get in a British pub. They were small overcooked pieces of fish without any coating. I was not able to eat the fish because it was dry and chewy. When I complained all I got was a nod and a "oh ok". If you are going to advertise as a British styled Gastro-Pub, you need to serve authentic British food. I was thoroughly disappointed with my meal. My son ordered the chicken basket and it was filled with fries and just 4 small pieces of chicken on top. The chicken had heavy breading on it so you got more breading than chicken. Those 2 meals were totally unacceptable. The other 2 meals were fine, French dip and a double smash burger. When the bill arrived all meals had an upcharge of $3.10 for fries. There is no place on the menu that indicated that, plus my fish and chips came with fries. So, we paid $12.40 more than we should have. The one positive is 2 days after eating there I do not feel I was "glutened". I do not know if we will eat there again. Two out of the four meals were unacceptable, the waitress was in another world and no one cared that my fish and chips was bad. read more

We were in town for parents weekend at our daughter's college and the Crooked Goose was recommended so we made a reservation with high hopes. We arrived and had to wait for a hostess to seat us. There was not enough wait-staff and I'm assuming the kitchen was understaffed as well because it took forever to get our food. It took well over 1.5 hours for our table of four to be seated, order, served and eat. The quality of food was beyond disappointing. The only highlights were the short rib grilled cheese and the French fries. The chicken strips were overcooked and tasteless, the fish in the fish and chips was overcooked and tough, not to mention a tiny portion (which was fine because it tasted so bad.) my guess is the fish and chicken had been cooked, cooled and cooked again multiple times. The house made chips were underwhelming as well. It's a shame because the location is great and the motif and vibe was very promising. Sadly the quality of food and service didn't match the restaurant's potential. Do not recommend. read more

The current owners did not change too much on the inside of the restaurant from the previous owners, which was pleasant then and still now. I ordered the Cauliflower appetizer and it was extremely overcooked and flavorless. Poor presentation. Got the smash burger, Over cooked and not appetizing. Fries are advertised as rosemary fries, but served as very basic skinny fries with limited rosemary flavoring. My partner ordered fish and chips and was disappointed in the serving amount and the flavor. A shame one of my favorite spots in town closed and was hoping to be blown away with this restaurant ( as the owners have other restaurants in town i LOVE) but this place fell very short for me. Had brunch with a friend of mine today 19January 2025. The waitresses excellent very friendly the brunch/English breakfast delicious. What they're missing is different flavored marmalades. Plus the toast should not be marbled rye. It should be white bread only for an English breakfast. They should serve butter and different flavored marmalades. The big beans were a bit soured, not to my taste. They were good but not what I really like. Other than that. The place is very clean.
