Cooler with cold sandwiches for $16 apiece

This place is a tourist trap! The only reason why people go here is because they have no other choice. There is no restaurant, gas station, or grocery store 1.5hrs away. Therefore they can get away with their crazy ridiculous prices!! Just some examples of the things they serve: a small paper bag of popped popcorn cost $12, gas station pretzel $12, a cold bottle of Starbucks in cooler $7, small personal size bag of chips four dollars, premade cookie six dollars one pastry six dollars, premade sandwiches $16, we went to the cafeteria to grab a quick bite, and we got hotdog for $13, crispy chicken burger for $27, poutine $17, hamburger 27$, and a kids meal fish and fry $15. So expensive for some gas station food. The fish and fries I know it was a kids portion but they literally only gave her one small piece of fish (3.5x2.5 inches) so tiny. It was literally frozen fried fish cake. The hotdog was in their rolling hotdog display like you see at the gas station. It was a thicker sausage, but pretty much very basic. Same with the pretzel. It was displayed hanging in the glass. Looks like your carnival food. The crispy chicken burger was not very crispy nor did it have enough seasoning and sauce on it. The french fries however, was crispy and decent. The poutine fries was OK. Nothing spectacular either. All the food was OK, but for the price, it was not worth it at all. They even charge you $.50 for a cup of ice.

Our really outdated room with a beautiful view.

So we went here for Mother's Day because they had a special. So I am thinking based on other reviews that this was a deal. We payed 350 bucks for a room for four and three adult meals and one kid meal. So let me start with the positives. 1. It is a beautiful setting 2. The staff were friendly and helpful 3. Because of the new dining regulations we couldn't eat in the dining room and I think that the staff did really well in delivering meals to our doors (although we have four people in our family and only two tv trays so luckily we found a free picnic table). 4. The food wasn't hot which was not great but driving around in the golf carts I would expect that. The food was delicous though. My husband and I had the prime rib and my oldest had the chicken. Everything was fresh and flavourful. And my youngest one had the kids pasta. It looked tasty too and a large portion. Things that were not good 1. Incredibly small and out dated rooms with no microwaves (?) or a bathroom from the 60s that shower didn't work properly 2. Gas and the store were stupid expensive (my oldest kid wanted a starbucks premade cold coffee and it was SEVEN dollars. Seven. Smart girl she put it back. I would never pay full price for this. For a getaway (no wifi and a TV with like 6 chanels) for one night on a deal...sure. It was pretty walking around and like i said the food was really good. I imagine that when they can serve in a dining room where things can be brought out hot it was would be a nice "rustic" break It is not a resort. Those rooms really need to be enlarged and updated. And i was very happy we brought our own breakfast (thankfully nothing that needed a microwave) because I wasn't going to py 18 bucks for a simple bacon and eggs.

Well what can I say, a massive parking lot motel surrounded by a pristine wilderness. "Resort"? Where? Eyesore is more accurate. The only reason for two stars is I can't blame the friendly staff. Sure this place must have been conceived in the 60s when the car was king, but come on. Given the outrageous prices for everything here, the owner must be able to afford to replace some asphalt with trees. And while you're at it, at least swap your disposable plastic with real coffee mugs and water glasses.

The resort was overpriced and was terrible quality overall. I don't recommend staying at this so-called resort.

When I came in the Summer of 2025, I noticed they use the 1883 Lavender syrup from France. Sounds fancy right? But it actually doesn't use any actual lavender syrup; the flavor is all artificial. It also contains Red 40 which has already been known to be a mutagen for 20+ years BEFORE, before RFK. My syrup had developed a microbial (bacterial most likely) biofilm and growths within the syrup. My syrup still has 6 months before the expiration date. If the syrup is being used quickly, then maybe it isn't a problem, but I don't think lavender is a super popular flavor. So if you're at the Fairmont, check the bottles of syrup flavorings before you order, especially if it is the 1883 brand. Also, if you're staying at the Fairmont Hotel...why don't they just make lavender simple syrup in the kitchen? You mean to tell me this fancy hotel can't afford to make simple syrup? It tastes better too.

We got the first service for afternoon tea. At the time of the booking, they said it wasn't an issue. When we arrived, we were placed all the way to the back. When we asked about seating, they told us that they could not accommodate with no explanation as to the difference. Service was a bit slow in the sense we were told hot water would come as soon as we flip the lid but it didn't. The scones tasted stellar. The sandwiches were mid. There were more sweet desserts.

The floors were a bit squeaky, and the lock needed to ne replaced. It took at least a minute of fiddling each time we went back to our room (as if we were trying to break in), which was frustrating. The cleanliness was adequate, but you could see thick layers of dust behind the cabinets and o the edges of the wall. The balance was so old that the lights were out in thr bathroom the whole night because of my use of the hairdryer supplied in the room. Buffet breakfast was also decent for the price, wenliked that the menu changes daily. Service wise, half of the staff seemed to be diligently working- clearing tables and filling up the buffettable, but the other half would chat loudly continuously by the entrance without making eye contact or greet the guests.

Quick walking access to Lake Louise. 2. Above average food and bar. Yes, you can do better, but at a higher price point and usually with at least a 45 min drive. 3. Good parking, which is an issue in the area. On the "I can deal side," but maybe a minus depending on what you are looking for: 1. No AC. Usually not an issue, but for our first two days it was high 80's Fahrenheit/low 30's C. Had to keep the windows open. 2. Sound. Rushing water from the nearby stream. We actually liked that. The building is old, so anyone moving, especially in the floors above you makes a creaky sound. 3. Wifi was weak. Cell service was spotty in the area except in town. We were trying to get away, so no big deal for us this time. 4. No tv. Also no big deal this time for us, since we were trying to be offline/low tech. Overall: would def stay here again and interested in checking out the other Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts.
