    Panini with salad.

I had the lamest panini ever. The salad dressing was awful. My drink was particularly weak. However the person asking how I liked my set-aside meal was very attentive and friendly!

My husband said, Pretty good breakfast. And I concur. We shared the large breakfast and porridge (oatmeal with milk, bananas and honey on the side). It was more than enough to feed both of us. The coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are free refills. The atmosphere was nice and felt very English. (Disclaimer: I'm American, and I can't say for sure what feeling very English means). Also, I think the large breakfast plate is very good value for money. You get a bunch of toast, two eggs, a large mushroom, cup of beans, three hash browns, two sausages and two pieces of ham for around 11 pounds. Also, they had clear plastic dividers between tables, to worry less while dining in the time of COVID. I have no complaints for Crown Rivers! Check it out!

Not sure what the previous complaints were about--this place is somewhere between a grab and go and a restaurant so there is a bit of "fast food" character to the place. I dropped my carry-on suitcase at a table, noted the table number, and ordered my meal at the bar (£15.45 for fish and chips and ginger beer). The drink was given to me in a can accompanying a glass with lime in it and tap water was self-serve. I sat down at my table and the food came quickly. The quality and quantity of the food was good. I asked for malt vinegar and the waiter went to go find it for me. I had the meal in peace. Someone came to ask me whether everything was okay. I said yes. I finished my meal and they cleared my plate. I sat there for another 20 min killing time before realizing I should get coffee without anyone bothering me. Good food and drink. Exactly what I needed. No complaints and would recommend the fish and chips.

After a long flight with another leg to go, I needed nourishment-the plane food as usual didn't cut it. Walked around and checked out a few places and went downstairs to the corner and stopped at Crown Rivers. It was busy and had an ample amount of tables/seating. A good variety for breakfast and reasonably priced so let's give it a try. You get your "reserved" table sign at the entrance, find an empty table and place your sign on it. Make note of your table number and place your order with your table number at the bar. They will bring your food out. The guy at the counter mentioned it will be about 20 minutes but I got my order in 10 which was a nice surprise. Settled on the Eggs Royale. Eggs were poached perfectly and the Salmon was excellent! Had to try the Lincolnshire Sausage so ordered a side and that was very good. Nothing really special about the side order of hash browns (only item that felt like fast food) They also have a coffee machine with a variety of regular and speciality drinks. I got a Flat White and must say it was excellent! Overall, service was very good & this meal was exactly what I needed to tackle the next 10 hours in the air.

This was definitely one of the better airport breakfasts I've had. You can order at the bar or there is an app you can download to order. I was just here for a short layover and the food came out quickly and there was also a screen nearby with the flight times. It was like 0700 so of course we had to get a beer, they had a variety of real ales on tap that weren't overly expensive, even for the airport which was a nice change. I had the small English breakfast which was a perfect size. It came with bacon, sausage, beans, a hash brown and a fried egg. Everything was pretty tasty. It was the perfect breakfast for a quick layover. I would definitely stop in again if I were at Heathrow.

Doom Beef and Ale pie with mashed potatoes and greens. Gravy comes on the side and you can pour it onto the pie. Yummy w/pint!

Arrived around 13:30 on a Saturday and flights were clearing out so got a full service table (otherwise you order at the bar), had good service and timely attention. Great beer selection, and had a Winsor & Eaton ale. Ordered a Doom Beef and Ale Pie with mashed potatoes and greens. Yummy gravy came on the side, that you pour into the pie. (See uploaded picture) Great pub food. Yummy, but rather bland as pub food usually is. You can sit right by the big departures screen and monitor your flight, with no stress and have a pint or two. :-)

Grabbed breakfast here since it's one of the better deals in the airport. It's also one of the harder ones to find unless you are on that side of the airport or heading to the day use lounge. The small breakfast was more than enough for me and the unlimited tea/coffee helps if you have a long layover. I was a little confused by the fact that you have to order at the bar, or by app, before sitting down. Since the coffee/tea area is centralized, you might want to make sure you don't leave anything at the table if you're running solo.

    Poached Eggs?

Pretty good, I had poached eggs with lox, the poached eggs were way over done as in solid center, the waiter simply said that's how its done and walked off, after a 10hr flight and a couple hours waiting I was too tired to argue. The menu overall looked very good, some tasty hamburgers it looked like and lamb shank. The prices were pretty reasonable as well, the booths were super comfy and it's easy to watch the board for when your next flight is boarding.

So so so hungry when we landed at Heathrow, I could have eaten my foot if not fed ASAP... So once we entered Terminal 5, the first restaurant we saw, we agreed to eat at. I was very very underwhelmed by this restaurant. The chicken and salmon I ordered were extremely bland and the salad was, well... A side salad. Nothing crazy. I was trying to fill up so as to not be hungry on my 13 hour flight, alas, with the lack of fat involved in this meal (I should have asked for some avocado), I was actually still hungry once I gobbled up everything on my plate... My fiancé ordered the double chicken California Burger and he didn't complain (he was equally as hungry).... So that's a good sign. He even was generous enough to give me a 1/2 of one of his chicken burgers (which were just grilled chicken breast) and I have to say, it tasted far more flavorful than the sliced grilled chicken I ordered for myself. Thanks fiancé for wanting to make me and my hangry happy! It seems like others seemed to enjoy their food, so maybe I just ordered something boring... But whatever, people with food allergies should also have the option of eating tasty foods.... Right?! PS: I had gluten-free meals given to me on the airplane... And they were tastier than the food I got at this restaurant!!! SHOCKING, I know!

Fish & Chips with a side of peas.

The Crown Rivers made my foodie dream of eating fish & chips in England a reality -- yes, I'm one of *those* people -- when I had a layover. Granted, it's still airport food, but I didn't care and gave it a go anyway. A plate of fish & chips costs under £10. The fish is a good piece of hand-battered, fried cod that 's accompanied by chips and a side of peas. With a few squirts of lemon and a couple of vinegar packets I poured over the fish, I thought it was going to taste wonderful. Unfortunately, it didn't come close to what I had hoped. Everything about the meal was bland. After a few bites in, the novelty of eating fish & chips in England began to wane. Such a disappointment, but that's not to say that I wouldn't give it another go when I return to England, but it would of course have to be elsewhere other than Crown Rivers at Terminal 5.

My original layover was supposed to be longer, but luckily it got shorted to just 3 hours. Since I had time to kill, my buddy and I decided to knock back a few pints. The Crown Rivers has a sit down restaurant section and a predominantly standing room bar section. The beer is modestly priced and they have a great selection of craft beer. They pride themselves in serving English microbrews, but they also serve a few american craft beers along side the likes of Heineken, Guinness, and Coors Light. Service was polite and the staff were knowledgable. Maybe next time I'll try the food.

I have eaten at airports all over the world ...and The Crown Rivers was not like eating in am airport ... of that makes sense. Comfortable seating as you wait for your gate. Had breakfast and it was reasonably priced not only for breakfast but for airport food. The food ordering with their app ( if you already have it) or from the bar is fast. Ordered on their app, food was hot and in front of me in 5 minutes. Attentive staff and monitors to keep an eye on your flight. Check out the menu pictures , great variety of options. I enjoyed the Gluten Free Breakfast and had the Avocado Toast Breakfast. With tea for two (free refills) £15. Yes at an airport. Not very common.

What could go wrong? Well, first, the pub is a mess. The decor is very much I need of updating. The yellow light bulbs surely hide the true picture here. It's dated, stuffy, poorly maintained and in desperate need of modernising. The service at the bar wasn't very good either. Prices seem normal though. I got a bottle of still water for £1.50. The glass was clean and full of ice with a slice, so not bad there. Secondly, the restaurant part. The menus are tasty, the waitress is impossible to understand, and the food was served without any grace. I ate a green chicken curry that lacked much chicken and veg, but was swimming in coconut milk. The coconut rice was too sticky and the proportion of rice to curry was not right - more rice than was needed. By it tasted ok. Put it this way, I wouldn't rush back, and if I lived here I wouldn't eat here, but as I'm in the hotel across the road, it was a decent stop gap and probably much better than the food in the hotel bar.
