The sides / veggies are all typical Southern fare, well-seasoned and cooked low to the pot- absolutely delicious. Cornbread & rolls are delectable. We made a special trip just to be able to eat here, and it's reputation did not disappoint. The tea is perfection, so I knew the meal to follow would be the same. I ordered the shrimp poor boy and sweet potato fries and ate every bite, which is rare. My husband ordered the fried chicken and baked potato, and also finished every bit, which is extremely rare. The restaurant is a bit tight when it comes to seating so when you go just know they definitely 'pack' people in. Nevertheless the food was amazing! I ordered the catfish, baked potatoe and a ceasar salad and everything was delish! The waitress brought bread/rolls to the table before the meal and we nearly chewed our fingers off. The bread is delicious. We were afraid we would get full off of the bread because it was so tasty. I ordered the catfish and it was fried perfectly and tasted great with hot sauce.....yum, yum, the baked potatoe was good as well. I typically don't order potatoes but decided to do so this time because I had a taste for it. The waitress was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. While I arrived to an empty house, within 30 minutes the place was packed. I could tell by the roaring conversation that my surrounding patrons were the long term residents of Greenwood. Friends we met at the Viking Cooking School recommended The Chrystal Grill and, in particular, the Praline Pie. The pie was truly amazing. Worth the trip or at least pick up a piece to carry out back to your hotel room. The pie is more like a Baked Alaska with a conventional graham cracker crust, butter pecan ice cream, baked meringue on top, and the finishing touch is a decadent caramel praline pecan sauce which just ties it all together. It would be difficult to make a less attractive or tasteless meal. The people writing the high reviews maybe have few other restaurant experiences to compare to, or enjoy greasy, bland, overcooked food thrown on a plate of grease. Been in town for two weeks and finally made it to this iconic spot! I wish I'd known about their lunch specials 10 days ago. This place is top notch! Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food. Lunch today was just like something my sweet southern grandma would have made me if she were still here! Southern style Mississippi Delta dishes, for sure! And the pie... My family took me for my birthday. I ordered the mile high pecan pie and it was amazing! I know it won awards in Southern living, so I had to try it! This Restaurant is a childhood memory to me. The food is amazing and reflects the delta dining experience. The homemade pies are for sale and fly off the shelves. The buildings history is of a true southern simplistic town. I may live out West and like to eat vegetarian-ish now, but when your in the Delta.... this is hands down some of the best tasting regional food I've ever had. The fresh water Red fish with the seafood sauce made me very happy and very full. Excellent seasoning and taste! I found Crystal Grill to be a tad overrated. Everyone says the big selling point is their fried chicken, but I found mine to be decent at best. I liked the side of lima beans I had, but their mashed potatoes were as bland as KFC's, but with no gravy. With that being said, my work colleagues enjoyed their meals. They both had salads (one was a chicken Cobb salad, but I forgot what the other was, but it had shrimp on it). Not only were they tasty, the salads - which were 'small salads' - left them full. I ended my meal with a coconut pie, which was big but nothing earth shattering. Crystal Grill is good, but don't let the hype get your hopes up. It's a solid place that probably serves a few too many types of food. read more

Let me start off by saying that the service was great, the inside was clean, but the food is way over priced for the quality that I received. I ordered a $26 prime rib medium rare, when the waitress brought it she said "it doesn't look medium rare but we don't have no more". Well it was well done dry no flavor. I am afraid I will have to change my rating to one star since there is nothing lower. I never thought I would say this, but The Crystal Grill is on its way out. I have been eating there for forty-plus years and never had a bad meal, or a complaint, until now. The breaded veal cutlets were superb for years. It was my favorite, but now it is just plain gross. It has been changed to pork, which has a bad taste regardless of how you cook it, while the gravy is now just plain brown gravy with a lot of salt in it. It tastes nothing as it did even a year ago. My family and I made a special trip to Greenwood on Friday, May 21, 2021 just to go to The Crystal Grill. We were all highly disappointed, to say the least. I did bring it to the attention of the girl when I went to pay but she just a bad attitude about it. In addition, in the back room where we sat, another customer was vaping. I brought it to the attention of the waitress but she just mumbled something and walked off. My family should have the right not to breathe somebody else's cancer-causing addiction. Also, the wait staff has no respect for other people. When cleaning tables, they simply throw the dishes and silverware into the tub without regard to how loud and ear-piercing it is. So much for having a quiet comfortable meal. Who is running this place? They are doing a horrible job at it and need to just quit the business! Needless to say, this is the last visit we will ever make to The Crystal Grill. It has definitely lost all of its quality and appeal. There are better places to go to! read more

Unsatisfactory dinner for six. We arrived at 7.45 slightly late for our booking of 7.30 and were rushed to order. Our daughters fries came with a piece of rubber glove in it. We got a replacement plate of fries. No dessert offered just bill given to us while still eating. When we indicated we might think about dessert after finished our meal we were pushed to order right then and there So we asked to look at desert menu. If I could turn back time I would never eat here again. Literally the worst and slow service we have ever had. I will give the waitress a pass on this one. Everyone has shitty days where everything goes wrong. We went on a Sunday and ordered the brunch specials. I got the chicken salad plate. My two sides and dessert never made it to the table that was included in the brunch. The chicken salad was fine, nothing to brag about. It's more of a sweet pickle mayo style. The plate included a sliced hard boiled egg (can't mess that up), two wedges of tomato that were so hard it could be used as a weapon, two half's of canned peach and pear. Terrible. I don't want canned fruit. The other order was chicken and dressing with butter beans and squash casserole. Again the dessert never made it to the table. It took so long to get the food and the food was so bad...we didn't even remind the waitress. There is not much to say but every thing was bad. Just bad. read more
