Came for the Memorial Cup Tournament and enjoyed the Cube. The ice was excellent ice (good conditions), great rink options and services set up for the tournament (mech). The Cube staff seemed nice, made great suggestions for local restaurants and monitored the kids well (stopped the chaos of kids running to and from). Only complaint was the restaurant wasn't open early for the early games, we had a 7.a.m game and had to be there at 6:30 I assumed I would be able to buy a coffee when I got there but the restaurant didn't open until 8 I believe. This review is for the food and food handling only. I left 1 star because we ordered food there and saw how it was being handled, which was pretty nasty. The cook wasn't wearing gloves, which may be a personal preference, but what concerned me was that he touched raw burger meat, burger buns, and cooked fries without washing his hands in between. You could even see how greasy the box was because he grabbed the fries with his bare hands and then handled the packaging. Worst birthday ever! We came here for my daughter's birthday and one of her friends could not stay so my daughter was super sad and we had to leave. We had not been there a half an hour. I asked for a refund for our skates and they say their policy is not to give refunds. Even with all of the information and seeing my daughter sad they still would rather hold onto their money than satisfy a customer. Overall, we had a really fun time, but the pricing definitely caught us off guard. It was $20 per person--even for my 6-year-old who can't skate yet--which felt pretty expensive for a family outing. It did come across as a bit overpriced. That said, the experience itself was great. The rink had a staff member dedicated to safety who was actively checking on everyone, and he did an amazing job. It made the environment feel much safer, especially for kids and beginners. We skated the full two hours and really enjoyed it (even though our ankles were definitely feeling it afterward!). The facility was also very clean, which made a big difference. Overall, while the cost is high, we still had a fun and memorable family experience. read more

We hosted my daughter's birthday party here and while the kids enjoyed skating, the party room experience was unfortunately very stressful. Our room was reserved from 1-2 PM, but the food didn't come out until about 1:20. This left very little time for moms to feed their kids and eat themselves before we were expected to sing Happy Birthday. Because of the delay, we barely had time to get through the main food. We weren't even able to properly cut and pass out the cake before staff members were already standing at the door waiting to clean up. The timing felt very rigid, even though the food had arrived late. As a parent hosting the party, I felt extremely rushed trying to pack everything up and bring it downstairs while managing the kids and guests. What should have been a joyful celebration ended up feeling very pressured. I understand the need to stay on schedule, but when food is delayed it would really help if a little flexibility could be offered so families can actually enjoy the celebration. read more

Came here for a competition. There are at least 2 rinks. They have a "restaurant" upstairs where it isn't cold so you can enjoy your food. The restaurant has one of the best fries I've already tasted and inexpensive. There are decent amount of parking. There are some locker rooms for teams. read more

I've been coming here for the last 25 years. I love coming for parties, and free open skate. I've come on Friday and Saturday nights when it's neon and the music is playing, for parties for kids and I love being here! The skates need replacing.. they are in horrible condition. Please Zamboni the ice / they used to every couple hours and stopped. Last time I went the ice was so jagged and my skates kept getting stuck and I would fall, I'm a good skate and never fall. I recommend bringing your own skates! Bundle up it's cold, there's a great cafe upstairs you can dine at for hot chocolate, a pretzel etc. bring $ for a locker as well to protect your shoes and items. The workers are usually nice here and helpful. They have a separate section for hockey players and you can sit and watch their practices and games! You get the hang of skating quickly, but they do have a mini rink reserved for beginners and parties. The birthday parties are maxing here. They provide pizza, cake, and the skating! Prices I think are still $13-$15 per person for a couple hours. read more

The Cube's easy to get to from the 5 FWY and Newhall Ranch Road, about 2 miles east and has plenty of parking, although they're a little snug. There's 2 full sheets of ice, NHL and Olympic sized, along with a small "pond" size with ice walkers to help newer skaters. There's a pro shop located downstairs by the entrance with hockey equipment, tape, etc. as well as figure skating gear. You'll find bench style seating upstairs for the NHL and Olympic rinks. There's also a snack bar that serves alcohol, beer and specialty canned liquor/drinks. If you're not a fan of stairs, they've got an elevator. Overall, the Cube's a nice facility. read more

Disappointed with Ice Time Management The Cube used to be a great place to skate, but it's gone downhill fast -- mainly because the coaches now take up over half the ice during sticktimes. It's beyond frustrating when you're paying to skate and can't even use a full zone because 3+ coaches are running drills across multiple sections. This has been brought up to management multiple times, and absolutely nothing changes. A very simple fix would be to limit coaches to 2 1/4 zones and the center ice , so that other skaters can at least have a full zone to themselves. Until this is addressed, it's just not worth it. read more

Just wanted to share the positive experience on ice here as a casual ice skater!! Overall, it was really fun and I'm ready to come back for more. Got in on Sunday afternoon (check online for the public skating hours, they have afternoon and evening on weekends). We had purchased and signed waivers ahead of time online, so checking in and obtaining our skate rentals was a smooth process. There are small lockers for a quarter to store some belongings and shoes if needed. At the current price point of $16 for admission and rental, I think it's a really good deal! No time limit on the ice too (or at least I am quite certain so)! So it was nice to not feel rushed and take my time and breaks. I'm quite a beginner, but won't be hard stuck following along the walls. There were not too much people on the rink on a weekend afternoon, so that was another plus! The ice skates are rental quality but should probably be changed out soon. The outside blue shell is plastic and quite stiff on the ankle. Very beat up/scratched up, but it was good enough for what I wanted to do on ice! Next time, I want to try hockey skates if those are rented out. read more

Lots of space, great room for parties, parking lot was a nightmare on a Saturday afternoon and there's no street parking here.

Glad to have an ice rink in SCV and the staff always is very friendly, however a few things can be done to improve the learning of new skaters and enjoyment of those who are experienced: 1) Hockey skates should be the standard skates handed out as rentals. It's difficult watching people learn to skate on figure skates... Figure skates should be by request only. The staff should inform renters of the difference. 2) The small rink should be open for those learning with the walkers, not left in the middle of the big rink or obstructing the flow of the skate time for those more experienced. 3) Each time a public skate starts the ice should be cleaned by the Zamboni and it should be cleared again half way through. (This wasn't always the case in the past)   4) Have skaters change the direction of skating half way through the public skate... it would be nice to get more familiar skating the opposite direction. 5) The weekends tend to be a busier time to skate, and I noticed many groups standing on the ice and obstructing/blocking the skate flow. The staff should be informed on how to keep the skate flow moving. 6) The Pro shop should stay open for a short time into the public skate for those who bring their own skates in case they need to get their skates sharpened. All in all, great place for family fun. read more

The service was poor and the energy from the employees was very negative. They all looked very unhappy to be there, I wish the vibe was better and more fun to be there. One of my friends worked there and came with us to skate. While we were there we were treated very poorly. The workers were rude towards us. I definitely won't be coming back. read more

I went here with my group of friends for a birthday hangout for one of them. Overall great experience. The lady working at the food place was really nice. Though...there is a lot of little kids who are really good at skating. The down side to this is their still little kids so their self awareness is pretty bad. This kid cut in front of me as I was skating. Luckily i'm not terrible at skating so i dodged them but if it was someone who didn't know how to doge or stop especially if it was an adult that kid would be slammed into. It's not just the kids there's also other people zipping around you that can scare you but it's more little kids since they're so small no adults watching them that i can see. This is just a rating for the grill at The Cube. I was really disappointed seeing the staff not have any care for food handling. No one was wearing hairnets or gloves. I observed the young woman tonight wipe her dirty hands on her pants and proceed to make someone's sandwich without gloves. Then after that sandwich, she wiped her hands on her shirt, and made another person's sandwich. I was glad my food was fried so she handled them with tongs as soon as they came out of the fryer. But I would definitely not go back after watching how they prepare food. read more

The food available is surprisingly good for a medium sized stall. There's beer on tap, can, or bottle. First time here, The co-workers here were awesome. The lady at the front reception desk was very welcoming and gave us all the information about the place, where to go and what to do. The rental staff was great (there were three there ready to take peoples shoe sizes, during a afternoon skate session) Once on the ice everyone kept to themselves and the skate guards were always on site. The Ice was newly iced? for the session and we left before the half so wasn't sure if they re-ice halfway thru or not. Everything was clean from all the areas open to the public from what I can see and the bathrooms were as well. Only minus I could see is the rental skates were pretty dull from the pairs I tried on and they were on their last legs overall. Maybe a good sharpening will help. But where hasn't there been bad rental skates elsewhere as well :) Will for sure be back again! Thanks guys! read more

The rink was a good size for families. Our kids enjoyed themselves. The only suggestion I would have is to improve the rink handrail. The handrail around the rink barely exists, tiny safety issue. Those who are trying ice skating may enjoy the experience more if they could hold onto a handrail. read more

We spend a lot of time at ice rinks and this is one of the nicer rinks. There are two full sheets of ice as well as a small pond for the younger kids. The pond has full boards and glass, which is perfect for the 8u club kids. The facility has a snack bar and serves beer. There are a lot of food options nearby as well. It has been cleaned up a lot and is a good rink for tournaments. read more

It was a good way to spend a hot afternoon. The front desk staff are super nice. Entry with skate rental is pricey, especially given the quality and conditions of the skates. The ice was rough, and the food was not good and also too costly for what it was. We paid another $5 to rent the ice walker for my youngest, and people constantly stole it and ran off with it, like literally the second her hands came off of it. At one point I had to chase an older kid down- who of course really didn't know the deal- and let him know that we paid to rent it. He said, 'But I can't skate!' and had a hard time giving it up. Hey Cube, just make these things freely available. It's confusing and no one follows the rules (which are not made obvious). You're creating problems and conflicts and arguments where there shouldn't be any. The other thing I noticed is that staff on the ice don't actually monitor things. There were three staff, teenage girls, on the ice who were definitely more interested in chatting and showing off for each other than working. Again, I get it, this is what you get when you hire inexperienced teenagers, but the Cube management needs to train staff better. People fall all the time and can get seriously hurt with ice blades and broken bones and concussions. The staff should be a little more trained and proactive, at least with the BASICS of safety on ice. Case in point, a 10-11 year old boy fell hard onto his back and was holding his spine and struggling to get up. He stayed there crying in pain for about 5 minutes, which is a long time to sit on the ice, while all his friends surrounded him and called for adults. I asked one of the staff if they planned to check on him, and she winced and said she 'thinks' someone went to get a staff who can help. Um....? She couldn't break out of her conversation with her coworker long enough to skate 20 feet and say 'are you ok'? Creates a huge liability for the city of Santa Clarita along with being really dangerous to the child. In a nutshell, I just don't think the priority should be conversation and showing off skating moves while on the clock and while someone is hurt. I hope the Cube management reads these reviews and actually makes changes! We'd love to come back and have a safe and fun time. read more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!!! Don't go here!!! Larry Bruyere is the WORST manager!!! He has no clue what he is doing! A lady came to the ice rink and yanked the walker away from my son in middle of the rink and he doesn't know how to skate... and the Manager did NOTHING! My family paid for this walker and shouldn't have had it taken away. I expect trashy people to do trashy things like this lady, but for management to do absolutely nothing to remedy the problem is inexcusable! Get new management!! Larry Bruyere is not what you want to manage your place! Both my kids left crying because when we confronted this trashy lady she told my kids and I to F off and sadly management just watched and again did nothing! read more

I usually come to open skate time on the weekends to treat my child to an amazing time, at a place that I enjoy--as well as the city of SCV for saving this place that is so much fun for the children of SCV. Today I witnessed a sad situation. A group of people were having a birthday party and a mother of the party, took away a set of balance pipes from a young boy, that are used to assist kids from falling on the ice. The skating ring management did not handle the situation correctly. I actually saw the kid crying that was stuck in the middle of the ice ring because they didn't know how to skate. Manager came out and did not even ask the person to give back the assist bars or make the child feel safe. Bullying of adults or children should never be accepted on the valley and usually never is. I hope the city looks into these employee(s). read more

The Cube? More like "The Dumpster" that attracts the trashiest of patrons. Today my children were attending a birthday party and excited to skate. My youngest is a novice and requires one of the "canes" to help keep his balance while skating. A POS lady snatched the cane from my son and walked away. My older child asked the lady why she took it away and the lady tells my child to F OFF and screamed obscenities at my wife and kids. The scene was witnessed by the staff who sat idle and DID NOTHING to remedy the situation. The "manager" Larry Bruyere, DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! The lady was not asked to leave or reprimanded for her actions or speaking to a minor in such a horrid manner! Now I have two crying and scared children that will not ever go ice skating again due to this incident. Moral of the story is that THE CUBE IS NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR OUR CHILDREN to skate and have fun. I wouldn't ever let my kids go there for free skating or book a party there ever again! Great job City of Santa Clarita! Way to spend good tax payer's money on this place and run it with the worst imaginable and most incompetent staff! STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMPSTER FIRE! read more
