It hurts my soul to write this.. I have been going to The Daily Grind since I was a child. I studied for college tests here when I was home from school and I have tried to support them since living here as an adult. Every time I go, the service gets slower, the coffee quality is worse, and now even simple orders are inedible. Yesterday, at a time when there were maybe 3 other tables, I waited 40 minutes for my omelet and bacon. The omelet was closer to scrambled eggs, and the bacon so burnt it couldn't be eaten. As a cook, how can you turn this out to be eaten? And as a server, don't you question how terrible it looks and choose not to serve it. Ten years ago, 5 stars... standing alone yesterday I would have given it 3 or 4 and called it a fluke.. Now I am ONLY giving 2 because it holds nostalgia for me. I think my continued attempt to patronize The Daily Grind has come to an end :( read more

Went here on a Friday to grab some coffee and do some work for a little while. There is an extensive coffee list and I was impressed to see that they had two regular drip coffee options and two decaf drip options. Not everyday you get this many choices for drip coffee! The drip coffee is a little more expensive, but you do get one free refill. I didn't end up getting any food, but the baked goods looked fantastic and the food coming out of the kitchen also looked pretty good. The place was pretty busy when I first got there around 10, but then cleared out to just a few people coming and going. The wifi held out strong for my Zoom meeting and getting some work done. Overall, good coffee, lots of variety of food and drinks, and staff was very friendly. Decent place to stop in Marshfield for work, study, or just meeting up with friends. read more

Total waste of time. It's cramped and filled with too much stuff and looks like a hoarder's basement and the coffee is over-brewed and tastes burnt. I ordered pancakes that were soggy and raw in the middle, and to top it all off there's an old lady working there who is an absolute jerk to everyone in the store. Copped a nasty attitude at my mother for being hard of hearing. I have no idea what this woman's problem is but she has no business around customers because she's awful. Do not come here. read more

Great, little trendy coffee shop with a zillion syrups and options. Plus terrific breakfast and lunch options. We had the sunrise sandwich and pancakes. The pancakes are gigantic, so you only need one. It's busy, so be patient! Good for kids, too! read more

The Daily Grind is still a nice non-chain coffee shop, but it's lost something over the years. It's still a homey-atmosphere, still has the same handwritten chalkboard menu, still has good vibe place of a spot to sit and chat with friends. But it doesn't have the same friendliness or welcoming feel, at least for my non-resident senses. The coffee drinks taste watered down so stick with the brewed coffee. The hot chocolate is still okay, but doesn't have the richness of flavor and isn't worth the price. On the other hand, the food is still good and worth the wait, although depending on the kitchen staff working on the day you order, it can be heavy-handed on the salt. I guess that's one way of making you order more coffee. The service has been the most disappointing thing. If you're a local you probably won't notice, because the locals always move to the head of the line. That's not an exaggeration -- but maybe it's because they're always there, but locals walk in front of you, drop off their money, chat with the employees who spend time chatting in return even while taking another person's order -- be prepared to be relegated to the end of the line. In short, it's the occasional visitors like me that get shorted on service. It's barely civil and staff act more like it's an interruption to their social hour. And cleaning your own table to help out so others can sit down? Don't bother. They won't thank you for doing it. Getting the guest wi-fi password for this spot is another adventure in "who the hell are you?" looks from the staff. Stop in, but lower your expectations. Come for the plain coffee and maybe a sandwich, but don't expect to be blown away by the customer service. read more

First off, great coffee - the brew Collectivo (nee Alterra), Wisconsin's best coffee. 2nd, really great food - far better than your reheated dreck from Starbucks/Caribou/chain Free wifi, decent tunes, nice staff, plenty of seating, including some semi private tables in the back. If you want great coffee or a great breakfast/lunch/early dinner, then this is for you. read more

Extremely disappointed after stopping in today. Not a lot of people there as more than a few tables were open. We were greeted by the young lady taking our order. We ordered two flavored coffees, a sandwich bagel, and a grindette. My wife and I joked around with her about the Badgers-Gophers game. She was super friendly. After sitting down for a few minutes we both received our coffees. That's when it all went down hill. Wasn't busy when we got there and only a few people were sitting after us. Three people that were waited on after us received their food well before us. We sat there for almost 40 minutes when I went up to the counter. The cook told me that my grindette would be ready soon. A few minutes later we received our food. Did not think we would have to wait that long for what we ordered. My food was warm at best. The shredded cheese was not melted on top at all. It was not good food at all. My wife's breakfast sandwich was hot and good. But with how disappointing the food was and for how long we had to wait, I don't plan on going back again. They have a pretty extensive drink menu, including drinks that the staff have created themselves. The only problem was it didn't list what was in those drinks, so I had to ask the barista what was in a handful of them to make a decision. I went with the Foggy Molly which had caramel and chocolate. It was good, but had a bit of a weird aftertaste- maybe from the almond milk? The Red Velvet biscotti is very good- definitely recommend! I also had an everything bagel with was huge! I wish I had asked for 2 cream cheeses to go with it. I loved the decor and and atmosphere of the place. Don't bother with this place. All the good reviews have to be either from their friends, people that just don't know any better or have no where else to go. Coffee is always over-brewed and tastes like burnt grounds which makes me wish I stayed in bed. Breakfast is okay but good luck trying to order anything when the miserable old woman working here is taking orders because she is one of the nastiest clerks I've ever met. Seriously, this antique got impatient with my mother almost immediately and insulted her for being hard of hearing during a particularly loud and busy day here. I can forgive the mediocre coffee and the dated, cramped shop that looks like an American Pickers episode but grandma's nasty attitude was completely unacceptable. Classic coffee shop and cafe! Rustic wood floors and tables with exposed brick walls and (literally) lots of classic photos and grinders and coffee pots. Fun mix of the past and hipster feel coffee. And, of course, the reason you go to s coffee shop - I had the brew of the day a Jamaican Me Crazy. Cheezy name, but great flavor! Bought a pound of beans to bring home. We had lunch there. Stopped on for a business lunch at the Daily Grind. Menu selection was packed with goodies (as always). Ordered the grilled tuna sandwich with sweet potato fries. Tune is an 8 oz slice cooked as you please and served on a hard bread with 'special sauce'. It was Tuesday, and remarkably there was an open table. Cute shop but the smells of flavored coffees are overwhelming. Most bakery doesn't look like it's made in house. Decided to order a cold drink to support small local business. I live within 15 miles away and the first time I stopped here was last week when I wanted to grab a coffee before driving a few hours. I had a yummy caramel latte and I actually wished I would of grabbed a bite to eat because the menu looked good as well as the breakfast that some of the regulars were enjoying. I did stop in here a second time and saw a few people working so I asked the lady at the counter if there was wireless and she said yes I said oh that's great I work from home and it would be nice to have a change of pace. She was very rude and said well we'd prefer you not work here all day since we do not have much room. If you are going to come don't come during like 9-11 and 11-1. I was like really? And she was like yeah. So if you are going to turn away business I will take it elsewhere. I'd probably buy a coffee and or breakfast/lunch and recommend it to friends and leave a good review but now I don't know if I will be back unless it's to grab a quick coffee on the go. read more

The food is always tasty. Eric is always friendly, energetic and willing to help with anything. There is another man, the cook, who is always in good cheer. Any other staff member who has ever helped me is short and gives me the impression that I am simply a disturbance in their day. General poor attitude from these staff members. I always feel I am being rushed to order. I once brought a friend who had never been to the Daily Grind for some coffee and lunch while we studied in their larger back room. The restaurant was basically empty except for a few tables in the main part of the restaurant. We thought it would be fine to spread out our books, notes, and study materials while we enjoyed the food and drink we had purchased. When the woman staff member brought our food she rudely pointed out that large tables are for large groups. She also pointed out that if it were busy she would have asked us to leave. For a coffee shop, the coffee is always very stale tasting. The staff is quick to deny a special request or put a drink in a different type of to-go cup. They are not accommodating. I have come back time and time again because the food is good. Today was the last straw. I tried to have a pleasant conversation with the woman behind the counter and she made it clear she had other things to do than to waste her time trying to talk to me (let alone understand fully what I ordered). What a rare find in the middle of Marshfield! A few of my relatives recommended this place and I decided to finally check it out. I was a bit taken back because most "coffee" places in the area cater to the 60+ crowd. The daily grind has a great feel and they serve a large assortment of healthy and tasty food. I should note that this isn't just a coffee shop, it's a breakfast and lunch location as well. My only complaint is that the ordering counter is way in the back which made it feel a bit odd for selecting a table. I wasn't sure if we should wait to be seated or not....answer, grab a seat after you order. read more
