Last year I had breast augmentation surgery to fix my asymmetrical breast ptosis.. brasserie shopping was always daunting for me and super embarrassing; I could never find a size I was comfortable wearing. Since my surgery I have been afraid of going to the impersonal Victoria's Secret stores because they've never made me feel comfortable in the past. I will never come here again! Was not treated very nicely by the owner. I understand she might have been short staffed but she could have been nicer about it. She was extremely rude and even acted a little crazed because I was not aware that I needed an appointment. Very frantic and unpleasant. I have been here many times in the past. I'm a different size now and came to purchase some new bras. The owner halfway put a bra on me and said very abruptly said, "You'll have to come back another time!" It wasn't the fact that she would not help me. It was how she acted. She also kept pointing out how great the store was and she's been there 30 years. Being that I'm the type of woman that rarely buys sexy lingerie and hates shopping in general, I was reluctant to approach this "shoppe" after a coworker's rave recommendation. These were a few of her star reviews: * "This place is so great, the women are so nice and helpful, they made me feel so comfortable!" * "The saleswoman was SO considerate and polite when sizing me!" * "Their stuff is pricey, but trust me, it's worth it!" I was actually getting excited. I even left work a half hour early to make it just a liiiittle more special. It wasn't crowded when I went on a Thursday afternoon so a sales associate was available right away. I explained to her that this was my first time getting fitted for a bra (I'm 27, is that normal?) and I don't know the first thing about sexy lingerie--I just know my boyfriend likes it. The blonde sales associate led me to a dressing room and upon entering, told me to face her and lift my arms. She measured my bust then abruptly said, "take off your shirt." I wanted to respond, "But you don't even know my name!" but decided against the humor, given she was so cold in ordering me around. Hm. Not as considerate and polite as I thought she'd be. I asked if she could show me some corsets and she came back with a fairly conservative style. I thought she knew this was for my boyfriend....you know....to turn him on. I asked if she had anything more risque and she shook her head profusely. I was willing to try on a bunch of different things (I also made sure to hint that I WILL be buying something that day) so I told her to just lay it all on me. She warmed up a little and was quick to make suggestions and bring more sexy things. She eventually caught my drift and started handing me some drop dead hot sexy babelicious stuff. By this time, more customers were trickling in. My blonde sales associate started assisting another customer in the dressing room next to mine. Michelle made sure to check up on me whenever she passed my curtain, which was nice. How do I suddenly know her name? Because I overheard her introducing herself to the newer customer. YEAH. I didn't realize how long I was in the dressing room for because I was having a blast admiring my newfound sexy physique. Yes, a lot of the items here will make you think you are the hottest bitch alive. As I was making my final decisions, I needed one last opinion from her on a revealing purple satin and black lace corset. I was concerned about how I thought my boobs were spilling out at the sides. She stood at the open curtain, (criticizing?) then said, "It looks fine. Who do you need to impress? Who cares what it looks like on top?" Then she walked away. I had it by that point. As I'm changing back into my boring old everyday clothes and putting some of the rejected lingerie back onto their hangers, she walks by my curtain and asks, "Are you almost done in there?" I responded, "Yes, actually, I am ready to pay and leave."--and report her to her supervisor...unfortunately, I wasn't in the mood to put someone on the spot like that in front of their own employer, and Michelle is also incredibly lucky that I have an astonishing amount of patience. Michelle promptly rang my items up (that pair of panties really shouldn't cost $50 but, hey, my boyfriend deserves it) and routinely bid me goodnight. For those that made it this far into this review, I want to let you know I don't like bashing places for the hell of it. This is a reputable business but I got stuck with a socially inept and inconsiderate salesperson. Quality of product is one thing, which I'm not doubting. Quality of salespeople are another. Wow. I haven't been back here in a while. This is not your average lingerie shop, puts most places to shame. The ladies are beautiful, sweet and my emotions cannot speak how helpful they were. Went in for a comfy bra w/o wire and the sales woman asked, WHAT THE HECK, WHY WOULDN'T YOU USE WIRES! .,.I told her the details and I can't even tell you how warm, wonderful and understanding they were. My gf told me about this store several years ago, and I'm so glad that she did! It's truly the best!! I've been in several times, and I really should have written a review in the past, but my experience today was so wonderful, that I couldn't help but jump on to rave. After two kids, and enduring drooping lingerie for too long, I finally found the time to sneak over to The Dain Shoppe this afternoon. Nicole took me right to a fitting room, quickly and professionally measured me, asked me what I was looking for, and brought me tons of options. She helped me try everything on and adjusted everything perfectly. (She offered to step out and allow me to try everything alone, but I'm not shy, and believe me, I needed the help!) She offered honest opinions on every piece I tried on, and was very cost conscious. I never once felt that she was trying to "sell" me. I left with many, many things - some for everyday and some for special occasions. The lingerie they carry is higher-end, so yes, it's more expensive. But you get what you pay for, and when you leave feeling beautiful, it's worth every penny. My advice? Go to The Dain Shoppe. Go now. A coworker recommended I go here to find a special bra to wear with my wedding dress. So glad she did. Brought my dress in, someone quickly and pleasantly sized me, discussed what I needed, found me a cozy dressing room, and brought back a few choices. She gave an honest opinion, didn't try to sell me what I didn't need, and even recommended a seamstress for alterations. My selection was not available in the color I needed, so she suggested I bring home another color to get going on the alterations, and will switch it when it's in. And the store couldn't be cuter! I came to the Dain Shoppe prior to my first fitting for my wedding dress. I was greeted immediately and was helped right away. I didn't know the first thing about what I needed and they were so knowledgeable and kind! They even lent me the corset to try with my dress before purchasing. I went to my fitting. Unfortunately, the seamstress at the dress boutique was extremely rude and unprofessional. I left in tears! Upon reentering the Dain Shoppe all of the staff were extremely thoughtful and asked how things went. I burst into tears and it was quite embarrassing. I was so upset, I'm positive I was ugly crying. I received hugs, jokes, and even candy! I can't express enough how wonderful these women are. Not only are they excellent in their field, but they are warm and kind hearted. I am so grateful! I can't say I would go back to this shop. My bra fitting for my wedding went well. My mother came for a bra fitting too. Both bras work well and the staff was friendly, but I did find it odd that the only offered one choice during the fitting. My mom also bought pantyhose (not inexpensive) and had the sales person pick them out. they were too small when she wore the first pair and wanted to exchange the 2 unopened pairs for a bigger size, but 15 days had passed and they wouldn't do it. I think this is very poor business practice. It hasn't been that long since she made the purchase. read more

I came to this store to get everyday bras--I had never had a bra that fit properly, and since gaining weight that had become an issue. My first visit to the Dain Shoppe, one woman (her name may have been Nicole?) worked with me for almost an hour. She measured me and then worked with me as tried on countless bras until I found two I was happy with. The prices are high and without discounts, but they are very reliable bra brands and high-quality bras. The bras were around the same price as if you were to buy the bra online, and the customer service and fitting services were well worth the lack of discounts (also, you are supporting a small business, which is always worthwhile). Very soon after starting to wear the bras, however, they began to stretch out, and they were too loose to be comfortable and to support me properly. As I mentioned, I have never had a real (and comfortable) bra that fits, so I did not know that this would happen. When Nicole helped me try on bras, she answered all my bra questions (including washing tips, etc.), but I did not know they were going to stretch. I was only back in the area and able to reach out after about a month (I was traveling), and by that point I was very disappointed; the bras were so uncomfortable and I had spent a significant amount of money on those bras so I couldn't afford to go somewhere else or go online to get more in a new size. I emailed the shop with some questions (such as whether or not there is a way to have them not stretch), and Cathy Dain responded to my email very promptly. She had me make another appointment, and when I came in she literally tailored my bras right then to make the bands tighter so they were comfortable. She was so kind and helpful, and she seemed to truly want me to be comfortable with my purchases. That day, I also tried on a few other bras, and I ended up purchasing one that was two band sizes smaller than the original bras, and to this day this is my favorite bra--it has continued to be incredibly comfortable and supportive. I was blown away by their care and customer service, and I also really appreciated their bra selection, because larger bras tend to primarily be styles that are full coverage or very... matronly(?), and they had a wide range of high-quality bras of a variety of styles. Indifferent,at best. I travelled 40 minutes to this store, arrived at 10:10. Three different sales girls asked if they could help me, and when I told them I needed a specific undergarment, each said that someone would be with me soon. As two of them said, "we just opened, and it's a little crazy just now." I was the only customer in the store!! Finally, ten minutes later, no kidding, ten full minutes later, a woman comes out and said she'd "get me started, but she had a 10:30 fitting". All I needed was a bra! Despite the fact that I've lived in San Francisco for more than 8 years, I still haven' found any place that begins to compare in terms of both selection and service. The saleswoman that was supposed to be helping us offered my mom a few corset bras that she immediately knew she did not want. When my mom politely told her that she did not like that type of bra, the woman rudely tossed it at her. So, my mom begrudgingly put the bra on, and it clearly did not fit as it gave her a large roll in her back. Highly highly recommend! I went here this past weekend to find some new bras because I'm officially over Victoria's Secret. I was 99% sure of my size, but it turns out I am in between a 34 and 36, so some 34s fit me and sometimes I have to go with a 36. I was expecting that the shop would only have very expensive bras, but they also have Bali and Vanity Fair. I discovered Natori bras, which I am now obsessed with and will be buying more in the future despite the cost. This shop does not charge you more for the bras, either. If you are at all unsure of your size, go here! The prices can be moderate (~$35 for a bra) for Bali/Vanity Fair but can go to pricey if you go up to a more expensive bra. read more

Had the most wonderful experience at the Dain Shoppe today! I am 20 weeks pregnant and a bridesmaid in an upcoming wedding. I needed to find a strapless bra for my dress. After spending 45 minutes struggling at Victoria's Secret earlier this week only to strike out, I "resorted" to the Dain Shoppe (I thought it would be ridiculously expensive). Wow! I walked in, they measured me, and pulled the perfect bra on the first try! THEN they offered to sew in some pads for a little extra lift and added an extension to the back in case my chest continued to expand between now and the wedding. They sewed in the pads and the extension while I waited for no extra charge!!! And the bra was only $30. I am hooked. But for what you're spending at Vicky's, you could easily spend on a quality product and quality service here. Had the best experience ever shopping for a bra! Before going to the Dain Shoppe, I was never satisfied with my bras as they never seemed to give the proper support. I am 5'2' with a very large size chest. Having always gone to Victoria's Secret for bras, I would be forced into getting a DD cup. The problem was, the bigger size bras were always too big in the straps; not to mention all the bigger sizes were boring colors(beige, white, or black) with no cute designs or patterns. Fast forward to my first trip to the Dain Shoppe. I basically felt I had my own personal shopper. The customer service was PHENOMENAL!!! I dealt with Nicole during my first experience and to say she gave great customer service is an understatement. She just kept bringing me bras to try on and every one got cuter than the next. It was then that Nicole informed me that I really was a 34E/F. It took 30 years to find my correct bra size....lol! In addition, to getting several bras, another perk is that they fit the straps to your body so if you need them cut and sewn shorter, they do it right then and there. I now own several Freya bras, all with adorable patterns and colors. Prices are comparable to Victoria's Secret pricing. This boutique is a true gem! The 45 minute drive to the Dain Shoppe from Jersey City is well worth it. I have brought numerous co-workers and friends to this boutique, and the experience never fails to satisfy!
