Tried to callto order from this business and no answer, then I see online it's permanently closed.

We went there last Wednesday night while we were vacationing in SML. We were very disappointed, to say the leAst. We ordered 3 appetizers, one came out about 35 mins after we ordered it. The other 2 came with the meals. Also we had a party of 5. Three meals came out first and the other 2 meals came out when the first three people were finished eating. Those last two meals were cold. The pizza that was ordered had to be the worst pizza we ever had. Awful timing for guests coming to eat dinner together. I don't like to ever do negative reviews, however for a meal that cost over $150 you would expect to be satisfied with the food and service. We were not. We stopped in on a Thursday night for a casual bite. They had live music in the bar which was nice, but we sat in the dining room just to have a little more quiet after a long day. The pub pretzels were huge and decent tasting. Pizza took maybe 45 minutes, which was surprising for something so simple. It tasted pretty good, sweet sauce but not much of it and neither of us ate the crusts as it was pretty tough / overcooked. Our server was very nice (except she kept coughing, which is troublesome in pandemic times). Not bad, not great. For what we needed that night, it fit the bill. read more

Stopped in for dinner and ended up just trying an appetizer. My significant other ordered the Dam Punch and I ordered the Cucumber mint. I enjoyed mine, but my SO found two ants and a piece of what looked like animal hair in his and opted not to drink it. We had already ordered chicken wings and opted not to order a meal after receiving our drinks. The wings were good sized and had decent flavor. We tried the Parmesan garlic which was a dry rub, as well as the blackberry bbq which was a sauce. The service was slow and the price was fair for what we ordered. read more

Surprisingly delicious food. I've gone 3 times with different friends and have been impressed each time. From a way above par steak, perfect meatball sub and Caesar salad with chicken, all meals were really yummy. Add to that a really nice staff. It's a win! read more

We tried ordering takeout about a year ago and it was a mess. Waited about 2 hours for takeout food. We gave them the benefit of doubt because COVID lockdown had just started. Tonight we decide to eat in the restaurant. Well, their problems have not improved. Way less than half full. We waited almost 15 minutes for A glass of wine. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a fish sandwich. After 45 minutes there was no sign of our food. The waitress said the kitchen was backed up. Really? Maybe 25 customers in there. She couldn't even give us an estimated time. We left $10 for the wine and left. Nice decor, pleasant waitstaff (and seemed to be plenty) but something is very wrong in that kitchen! We've been here 3 times now and have always had a good meal. Market beef was perfectly cooked as ordered. The fried chicken plate could easily serve 2 people and was also very good, well seasoned crust. Fried green tomatoes were well breaded and stay together when cut. They had a nice balance of acidity from the tomato and the corn relish with the richness of the pimento cheese. read more

Even though they are extremely busy tonight, within 15 minutes of posting my very critical review, the associate who took a very critical order, the manager called and apologized profusely. They offered to make it up to me the next time we order or visit. I am impressed with the quick response and assurance that their aim is to provide quality food & service. Left the whole family satisfied and stuffed. Their pizzas are enormous and they do not skimp on toppings. The wings were above average and the Witcher flavor had quite the kick. The real surprise was the Shrimp and Grits which, while unique, were better than some that we've had in higher priced settings (and we've had a lot). As far as lakeside dining experiences go, I can't imagine too many spots I'd take over this. We will be sure to frequent The Dam Grill when we return to SML. read more

Spent a week in SML and ordered take out here. Was glad I did. Kids had a pizza and said the sauce and crust were good as were the parmesan wings. I didn't care for the parkway poppers but the hot beef dip trencher, oh wow! Amazing! read more

This is a new restaurant in the Smith Mountain Lake area. It is operated by the same folks who operate Heath's at Mariners Landing. The restaurant only opened a few days ago. This is the first we have have been able to eat here - the parking lot has been so crowded. Needless to say, this place is a big hit. We ordered the pizza sampler appetizer, the ribeye with pimento cheese and garlic mashed potatoes, and the chicken that was boneless in a delicious batter. We are stuffed with yumminess. Dessert was the Boston cream pie and the lemon blueberry cheesecake, leaving us even more stuffed. All of the food was superbly prepared, with some very creative and unique recipes. The collard greens that came with the chicken were scrumptiously seasoned. We will be back-that's for sure! Hopefully, they will consider offering breakfast options in the near future. Oh and kudos to our server, Bev. Bev was wonderful at answering all of our questions. read more

This is a good place locals hang out. The pizza is pretty good. They don't skimp on the drink pours or use jiggers so that is great. The shrimp and grits changed my life. Hubby loves the fish. read more

This is my third visit to this local eatery, and also my worst experience to date. My wife and I stopped in here late(around 9pm) after attending a function in Roanoke. We were just looking for a snack and a cold beer to unwind. After reading many good reviews about the "Dam Nachos" we decided to give them a try. Our first clue things were not going to go well was asking our server what draft beer they had on tap. She had no idea and to find out. Couldn't even tell us if they had the old reliable Bud Light. We did finally get our beer, which was pleasantly cold. No problem here. We then placed our order for the nacho appetizer and waited, and waited, and waited. 25 minutes we waited. I know with the COVID thing and staffing issues that it is always a concern. However, this visit there were three servers up front where we were seated(and we were the ONLY ones in the room as customers) so no, there were no staffing issues here, just bad service. After all this, we dug into the plate of nachos. Right off the bat we noticed that the entire plate was cold. The meat on top was cold, the nacho cheese was cold and the chips were straight out of a cold bag somewhere. This feature is supposed to be unique as it advertises in the menu that the chips are over a bed of seasoned French fries and topped with a homemade blackberry barbecue sauce. There were no fries or special blackberry sauce. This should never have left the kitchen this way. We didn't see our server again and had to grab another server to complain. She said that sometimes the servers will make the nachos and salads. How does a server cook the fries and prepare what is supposed to be a hot dish. We asked to see a manager but after waiting several minutes without any further attention, we just went home with an hour lost and no food. Third time was not the charm for us and even though they are close to our home, we won't be returning any time soon. Diners beware... read more

My husband and I stopped by to eat tonight after an afternoon at the lake. We had to wait about a hour for our food but it was so worth the wait! I had the Mahi Mahi teriyaki Noodle bowl and my husband had the beef stroganoff. Enjoyed sitting outside on their deck. We will definitely be back! read more
