My family loves to stop at The Dam every time we are in the area, attentive service, excellent food, and cozy ambiance.

Service wasn't bad. Food is average, used to be better in my opinion. They could definitely benefit by expanding menu options.

Nope, just terrible. French Dip special was mediocre,upgrade for cheese agrautins was a joke, ( cut up old baked potato with cheese melted on top) spaghetti and meatballs was a travesty, (were those Simeks meatballs?) pie was FROZEN Grocery pie. Do better. read more

When you see the bears you need to stop here right?? Since it's like the only place around ... and we had 3 starving kids. Simple place, pretty large menu. The prime rib looked amazing! I got just the salad bar which was small and simple, but plenty. Food came out fast and hot. And of course the kids had to get some ice cream when they were done from the hard ice cream case near the door... as did many who came in just for ice cream while we were eating. Probably will not be back unless we go back to see the bears, but if we do, we will stop again. read more

The food is good. I went a couple of times while I was in the area. Of the things my friends and I had, everyone agreed the Walleye meal was the best (better than the Walleye sandwich). The Walleye comes with the salad bar. It's tiny, but the marinated cucumbers are delicious. The downsides: the waitress/owner was rude to our group both times we were in there. And the price is steep for the area. It's also pretty cramped. read more

Very adequate meal ! Atmosphere: diner-style meal in homey setting. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of old logging camps and CCC groups. It gave some insight into how rugged life was in the early 1900s. Service: at 2:00 pm there we're still a few customers there. Our service was good in that it wasn't pushy and it wasn't slow. Food: Hamburgers were both cooked to proper 'doneness'. The french fries were good with the total amount enough to satisfy most. The reuben sandwich was better than most because it wasn't overwhelmed with any one ingredient. Cleanliness: the dining area was kept clean and the attached tavern was modern w nice bathrooms. Other: coke came by the can so there were no unlimited refills. Water carafe left on the table and promptly refilled. Additional seating (for dinner) was available too. read more

Places to eat in this region are very few and far between. And for someone who has special needs (gluten free, diabetic), and wants/needs to eat healthy, even harder to find. Now add in, you want it to also be flavorful and home made...forget it! UNLESS... You know about The Dam. We travel thru this area a few times a year, and this place never fails to amaze. The soups are different every day, and are homemade by the mother of the family, who's 90 year old, and is passing down the gift to the generation who's running the supper club. Any soup, chicken and dumplings, split pea, vegetable beef, potato - they all are a meal in themselves. Phenomenal. Lunch has a wide selection of choices, salads, sandwiches (hot and cold), and dinner entrees. The buffalo chx is great! Dinners there's something every night that's fresh, and again, all homemade recipes - Friday night be sure to call ahead as its walleye night - huge portion, crispy and wonderful. Their buttermilk fried chicken is just like what I had growing up in the south. The Dam is A MUST for those of you looking for the "special spot" on the road trip, or just a reason for locals to stop in and say hello to the gang. Went here 1 week ago today. The waitress looked at my mom with such discuss and asked "how many?" She politely said "12" and the woman snapped back with "we don't have room". Seriously? That's how you treat customers who want to spend money at your restaurant? What's worse is we could see 3 tables with five chairs each right in front of us. We said okay and waited for my dad to get out of the restroom. He asked where we were sitting and I politely yet annoyingly said "We don't have a spot, she has no room for us" right in front of her. So we left. If you're looking for a good place to eat since they turn you away, go to The Crescent Bar and Grill in Cook, MN. It's about a 15 minute drive from Orr but totally worth it and better service. read more

This is one of the only places to eat around town. It's a good thing because the staff is rude. We sat down and the waitress says, you want anything to drink or are you good? It seemed like our waitress didn't want us to be there. We got the message, we won't be back. The food was good but it's obvious they didn't want tourists there. read more

We stopped for a late dinner after enjoying Voyageurs National Park and were refused service because of my service dog. I had the fried chicken dinner and the chicken was well seasoned, crispy, moist and delicious. I ordered the hash browns as the side, but they also offer fries, baked potato, or agratin potatoes. The dinners come with both soup and the salad bar. The salad bar has limited selections, but the entree portions are huge, so I didn't even take the soup. There was an unadvertised prime rib special the night we were there. The locals knew about it a d by asking we got it too. My wife and I split a dinner and we were both stuffed. During the covid-19 partial quarantine we were in need of some delicious food. We got the dam burgers and classic burgers in addition to a pound of wings. Worst.meal.ever. this is the only restaurant within miles and seemed pretty packed. we walked in and waited as a unhappy waitress said she had no tables for us when we could clearly see many but we waited as she acted like we were inconveniencing her. we finally got seated and there were many mosquitos which I tried to ignore. I ordered the 1/4 chicken basket and after almost an hour of waiting it arrived COLD I can describe this meal in one word TRASH they might as well took the bones and fired them. There was no meat! I stoped attempting to eat the chicken and went for the fries which I'm pretty sure theses frozen fries are from ur local grocery store. Rude service. Walked in at a non busy time, dining room was open. Told the lady greeting us we had 12 in our party. She rolled her eyes and threw up her hands, then walked away. The Dam Supper Club is a decent restaurant in Orr. The baked, broiled or fried walleye is very good, and they are known for their fried honey chicken. Order the wild rice with your dinner because it is made in such a way that the rice curls in on itself. Much like other places in the area, this is not fast food, or fast casual. The beer is cold, the food is descent and it will provide you with local flavor in the north woods. read more
