I just love love love this coffee shop. I am quickly falling in love with Hatteras and this place is a must have every day in there! I've recently been to Hatteras on 2 separate trips. One was with my motorcycle riding club and the other was a family weekend getaway on the motorcycles with my mom and fiancé. We stayed both times at the camp ground behind this coffee and was able to walk right up and get amazing coffee drinks every day. My go to was the Coconut latte. I subbed out the Hazelnut for Vanilla. Perfectly done. No burned espresso and creamy hot milk. The decor is classic coffee shop with unique touches. Local art and products adorn the shelves. The staff is so cool and friendly as is the owner. He welcomed all our loud bikes with open arms. Even featured a photo on his Instagram. I plan to come here as long as they are brewing for sure! read more

I visited the Dancing Turtle recently while on vacation in Hatteras. Fantastic coffee -- the house blend was delicious. The staff was friendly and had my order up right away. I didn't get a chance to stop in for a second visit during our trip, but I did spot a bag of their whole bean house blend in one of the local grocery stores, so I brought some home with me. I'm no barista, but it made tastes almost as good as what I had in the shop. I believe you can order directly from their website, so I'll definitely be ordering some when this bag runs out. Great place, great coffee, and the other drinks on their menu that I saw served while I was waiting looked to be just as good. I would definitely recommend a stop if you're in the area. read more

My wife and I stopped here for coffee every morning during our long weekend in hatteras and absolutely loved it. This is what a local coffee shop should be! While on vacation, we visited this shop almost every morning. It's in a lovely house close to the beach. They have legit coffee (i.e. a real macchiato, not the bastardized Starbucks variety ;) and delicious baked goods. The cinnamon rolls are some of the best I've had. The inside walls are lined with local art, and there are many comfy chairs and couches. Stop by, talk to the owners, and lounge away your caffeinated self. read more

LOVED this place. So happy this little gem exists all the way down on Hatteras Island. My husband was actually the one to find it, but once he found it we went there an embarrassing amount of times on vacation. I can't really speak to the regular coffee since I had mochas every time I went. I tried the Mint Dream, Rocky Road, and Turtle mochas. I asked the girl the first time which to get and she said Turtle. Yes. She was correct. I liked the mint one and the rocky road, but the Turtle was the best! I got them frozen and iced. Frozen was definitely better. I wanted to try them hot, but it was way too hot outside for that. Service was always friendly and quick. The employees made you feel very welcome and made you want to return. I loved the atmosphere of this place! I would've loved to curl up with a book on one of the couches if I hadn't been with a big group of people. I loved the local artwork as well. Such a perfect coffee shop! I'm only giving this place 3 stars because it's certainly true that poor customer service can ruin a normally good business. While the coffee is good, the rude employee who barked at people about face masks kills the vibe. We are pro-mask people, but one member in our group forgot her mask on our first trip there and so she pulled her T-shirt up over her nose and mouth. Rude employee snapped at her because that was unacceptable. Because the coffee was good, we came back another day, all with proper masks. This time, same rude employee chastised another customer (not in our group) whose mask was not fully covering her nose. No more visits here from us. It's fine to point out the rules to customers; what's not okay is being condescending and nasty about it. read more

Great great place! We came to Hatteras for a socially-distant vacation. We got takeout coffee and pastries from Dancing Turtle 4 of the 7 mornings we were there. Particularly loved the flavored mochas (Milky Way and Heath Bar - yum) and the scones (apple cinnamon and blueberry) were out of this world. They did great keeping everyone safe - customers masked, limited people in the store at a time, plastic sheeting between employees and customers. Great all around! read more

I LOVED the Dancing Turtle! Such a cute little shop with friendly staff, tasty coffee and a sense of humor. I love going to tourist areas and finding places that you know locals frequent as well as the influx of bodies from out of state. We caught them at the butt end of their day, just before closing, but you'd have thought it was first thing in the morning. Lattes came out hot and they didn't rush us as we poked their merchandise. So glad I decided to try out this coffee shop. Amazing environment.. lots of couches to chill on, a small gift shop, and outside seating area. Menu offers a wide array of delicious coffees and teas, easily made vegan which is a plus! My mom and I ordered coffees (I got frozen cocoa mint, and my mom got turtle.) A perfect, quaint, art café. Prices are reasonable (I live in city and am used to latte prices). My husband got their regular brew and I got the S'mores latte with extra espresso. It was delicious and not overly sweet. We went and sat outside to read our papers and there was an overall calm vibe for all. Sadly, my husband and I will not be drinking the coffees we just spent $10 on. Iced latte with 3 shots of espresso and half a pump of flavor should not taste like sweet milk. My mocha should not taste like chocolate milk. The drinks were made before we even finished paying and we didn't even see or hear fresh shots of espresso being pulled for our drinks, so they must be using some concentrate or cold brewed coffee and not espresso shots as advertised, especially for there to be zero taste of the espresso. read more

This place has been here for along time thank goodness because there aren't many places to treat yourself with a yummy coffee. My favorite coffees are "the turtle" and "the Carmel white" my favorite muffin is the apple. Very fast service. Just spent Memorial weekend in Frisco and visited Dancing Turtle 3 mornings in a row. We were directed here through Yelp Saturday morning for a coffee fix and found ourselves eager to get there Sunday and Monday morning . . From regular coffee to lattes (Irish Lover & Toasted Coconut ) everything was SO good! Service was fast and friendly, inside and outside were great to hang out and relax .. The Dancing Turtle is an awesome little coffee shop. It has a great chill vibe with free wi-fi. You can sit inside or outside comfortably for hours if you want to. I had the mexican spiced mocha and it was awesome. Something i hadn't had before. The service was very friendly. The locals even come here and that has to say something about it. They also have pottery and shirts but go there for the coffee. Okay, so it's a little pricey, but you're on vacation. Splurge a little for a great little treat. I will definitely return. read more

Amazing coffee!! Came here for breakfast and I'm so glad I did. Coffee was AMAZING!! I got the frenchy. I 100% would recommend it and will be getting it again next time I'm in the area!
