Such a great spot to grab a coffee before or after the ferry to Ocracoke! Quick and reasonably priced and the coffee was out of this world!

Popped in here this week for something refreshing. The iced chai latte was good, albeit a little bit overpriced (considering it was poured from a mix). If you like a sweet chai (more like Starbucks, less like masala) then it definitely hits the spot! The decor was really adorable - spacious seating, artistic touches that set it apart from other shops in the area; over all, it definitely felt like a place I would hang out in regularly. However, all of this was rendered moot by the deplorably rude service. Two girls (around age 17) were behind the counter. The place was not busy - there was nothing identifiable that could explain their poor behavior. They were snippy, ignored myself and another customer when we told them, "thank you!" for our drinks, and made it seem as if making a simple iced drink was some sort of arduous task which they weren't receiving compensation for completing. There was nothing about the experience that was remotely pleasant or hospitable. I've worked as a barista, I get that it's not the most enthralling of jobs, maybe there was some tension between the two of them - I couldn't say. Regardless, customer service isn't something that should suffer as a result. Based on this interaction, I don't intend to return. I felt too uncomfortable. It's a bummer, frankly, because the attitudes of the workers were in such contrast with the atmosphere of the place itself. read more

Bravissimo!! Discovered on a motorcycle ride along the Outer Banks, I am totally in awe of finding such a phenomenal espresso macchiato so perfectly prepared at what sort of felt like the end of this earth. The entire vibe of the place echoes the celestial light of Hatteras Island and is matched by Brian's welcome and warmth. I also loved his engaging stories of other wanderers who've been lucky enough to discover his shop. And for too many reasons to describe herein, I am grateful to Brian's mother Beth for nourishing his imagination, creative spirit, and his own capacity to nourish and help others "refuel." This is a home away from home. You're always welcomed with a warm greeting (do the same, you are in a friendly place) and a great cup of coffee whether it is brewed or espresso based. The locals hold court before 0900 followed by the sun baked tourist who seem to roll in all at once around 0905. There is wifi and plenty of space outside to sit with your dog. Tucker, the resident pooch works behind the counter is is glad to lend a little affection if your dog couldn't make the trip. Open until 3pm, stop in for an iced brew to wind down on the deck. Remember to enjoy the large sweet pastries and half and half. Have fun and go with the flow. Tee-shirts and other accessories are great keep sakes from time well spent. read more

I've got one word to describe this place: nope. Some miscellaneous info: - They do not roast their beans on site. - You need cash for purchases under $5. - They sell some breakfast basics (bagels and muffins) and upscale chocolates. As for my experience: The prices seemed fair. The staff seems polite, but the person my boyfriend and I spoke to could not articulate the strength of the whole bean roasts sold by the bag, other than to say "it's dark, but not the darkest!" The house blend is bitter and some beans are under roasted. There is no combination of pouring and brew temps my boyfriend can make to salvage it. The toasted marshmallow latte I purchased tasted like freshly brewed water. I'd like to review this place well because it's local, but I can't in good conscience. The staff needs additional training on coffee descriptors, the brews ought to be a bit stronger, and they really need to find a new roaster. read more

Finding a coffee shop on vacation? Awesome. Finding one that has amazing pastries and even better coffee (cause calories don't count on vacation right?) Even better! Stopped in on a weekday mid-morning, small wait. Nothing more than ten minutes in and out nothing you wouldn't expect! The menu was easy to read and understand what they offered and all the pastries looked and were extremely fresh! The staff answered questions and were extremely friendly! You could even tell the staff loved being there and doing their jobs as well which is refreshing! Both drinks were ice/frozen tasted great! Highly recommend the Milky Way Mocha or the Frozen Hot Chocolate! They were done just right without overdoing any of the flavors! read more

This place is great! Located inside a house (like many small businesses in Hatteras), the friendly staff and charming decor are inviting and make for a nice experience. All of that, coupled with delicious coffee, make it bearable to sit down with your computer when you would much rather be out on the beach. After several days of mediocre coffee at other places in the area I finally found this place. My coffee order is not hard, I just get a cup of black coffee, but I want it to be good!
