This shop doesn't have an online website and they don't sell online. If I wanted more tea I would call to order and have it shipped. Which for a millennial who prefers to deal solely online is a lot of work. They didn't have as much tea as I would have hoped for especially in terms of flavors. Mostly just plain teas. The lady recommended a mango black tea they call Mango Mist. Unusual brewing instructions. She told me to heat my water to 190 for a black tea which is far too low. I tried both 190 and the usual boiling 212 and much preferred 212. Keep in mind temperature varies for what kind of tea. Pricey for loose leaf compared to other small businesses but it is in downtown Georgetown. I'm not local and I don't think I'd be back even if I was but it was a fun experience.

I was surprised to see how many options that they had. We chose 150 custom designed invititation cards, and it took them less than ten days to complete everything. I was helped by Kate and she was extremely knowledgeable about the entire process. What's cool about this store is that they even have wonderful gift items for nearly every occasion. I did my wedding invitations through Write for You. They were beyond unprofessional throughout the entire experience. While I had issues with the company for our 6-month interaction, here are the three most egregious interactions: 1. For an 8-week period of time a few months before my wedding, I was unable to get ahold of anyone at the shop. I emailed and called many times. I only heard back after leaving a final message asking if the business was still open and if I'd need to find another vendor. 2. Two months out from my wedding, I received notification that my invitations had arrived. On the same day, I received an invoice that included a $300 charge above my quote. This wasn't the first out-of-the-blue charge that had occurred in my interactions with Write for You. The owner told me this charge was for "ribbons and labor" and thus would not remove it. I was not previously notified of this charge and said I would only pay for what I was quoted. We went back and forth and the interaction eventually ended with: the owner yelling over the phone, the owner telling me she couldn't believe I was arguing over $300 because it's only $300, and the owner threatening to withhold the invitations. She also notified me that both she and her husband were lawyers. I ended up paying the extra amount because I needed the invitations (a fact she certainly knew). 3. Finally, after all of that, there was a typo on the invitations. Not only did Write for You refuse to reprint the invitations or refund me for any of the cost, but I couldn't even get someone to respond to my emails and calls. Presumably because I'd already paid. I don't think I can convey in a review what a terrible and exasperating experience this was the entire time. But I hope to convey to anyone thinking of using Write for You - avoid, avoid, avoid!

They offer such a wide variety of creative workshops and DIY activities. You can decorate fake cakes, create crochet flower bouquets where you choose your own flowers, or design custom jewelry at their Charm Bar. It's such a fun and unique concept, and everything feels very thoughtfully curated. They also have the cutest selection of locally made gifts, which makes it hard to leave without picking something up. I attended a workshop they weee hosting to make a floral bouquet keychain and had such a good relaxing time. The staff were incredibly helpful leading the workshop and fixing anyone's work alonng the way, and everyone there was in great spirits. It felt like such a cozy, positive space where you can just relax and be creative. Price for the workshop was reasonable too! My class was $35 I believe and I love how my keychain turned out! They were rude and were transparently overcharging me. I bought some jewelry I really love! But the quality is poor and not worth the price.

The class was $100 and spread out across 8 weeks, with one assignment per week. I ended up completing my first project within that time span, and I was well-supported to have my questions answered in class or received help with the tricky parts -- of course I took on the hardest beginner template (which every shopkeeper warned me against) because I'm a creative masochist. I am glad I went for the extra challenge because I really like the piece I made. Finally, I'll sign up for the class again when I am ready to make my next piece. I like how the pace kept me accountable, but didn't rush me, and for $100 having a mentor like Diane and her staff to go speak to each week is an incredible resource. I feel incredibly grateful that amazon hasn't wiped out this community resource, and I marvel at her dedication to stained and fused glass and her prowess and patience at sharing it with the community. Note regarding buying supplies: Yeah sure, I am a young generation internet wizard but being a fan of open source and the ways of Stallman (who was right) I DID NOT purchase resources online -- I kept the profits local and focused at this gem of a resource to our community, which means I bought EVERYTHING from VA Stained Glass. To anyone who's thought about trying their hand at stained glass, but feels a little intimidated by it, let me tell you that it's not nearly as difficult as you might think. In fact, it's actually pretty easy. And I can confidently recommend coming to the Virginia Stained Glass Company to get some instruction. Our experience was wonderful, with all of the staff, the other people in our classes, and the other customers who had bought studio time and were coming in just to work on their projects (I think the fact that people are buying time to work here on stuff they could just as easily do at home says a lot). The atmosphere was always relaxed and friendly, and I really enjoyed it.
