We had Anthony Brandt and his crew take out a huge cotton wood that was extremely close to two homes. The price was very competitive and the service was top notch. The tree was so large and over hanging the houses they had to lower all the limbs with ropes to the ground. They worked for two days and got the tree completely removed. They left the area cleaned up including the roofs of the houses. Could not be happier with the outcome. This is the second time we have worked with Davey and both times have been a great experience. Wow! These guys are great! After the heavy snow last night (late May), a large branch from my Ash tree was broken and hanging over my yard and fence. I made a call to Davey on Saturday about 9:00 a.m. Approximately an hour later they were here and gave me an estimate and then had it removed by 1:00 p.m.!!! I am truly amazed by their response time. They also did a great cleanup of the leftover debris. I have another tree that needs to be removed later this year and I will use Davey. They have trimmed my trees in the past and deep-root fed my Maple. I highly recommend them for taking care of your trees. I now feel safe that my puppy, whose birthday is today, is safe to run in yard. Thank you so very much. read more

This is the second review we had to write about Davey Tree.. Didn't think it was possible but had to go down another "star" in ratings We live in an HOA community & have had many conversations with Davey Tree crews over the past couple years - since they were signed on here. Residents have Requested not to trim healthy tree branches up so high. About 6" is the HOA standard. Many residents have spoken with these crews.. But still the pines & trees branches are cut high up over 8ft! The crews are often unprofessional & actually rude when trying to speak to them. I spoke with Jessy the Davey tree supervisor who handles this community last summer regarding our concerns. Thinking this would make a difference & trying to give these guys the benefit of the doubt. He assured they would be more conscientious & keep trimming to a minimum, no higher then 6ft unless branches were actually dead. But this year again the Davey crew are over trimming & nearly every branch in our community is a good 8`ft above the ground or higher. I had to advise the guy we got new gutters put in just last year. Just one example of Davey tree crew fabrications. The Davey tree Corp is unconcerned with the trees they cut, disregarding the people & community's their supposed to serve. They haven't even acknowledge or responded to a 1 star rating. Contacted Davey Tree out of Boulder. Dave Kalyan, the "District Manager" came out and walked the property on 9/9/22 to put together a bid. Never heard anything back so we reached out to Kendra Drummond on 9/14 regarding Dave missing in action. She replied that she would get the message to Dave. Never heard from them again. We went with another arborist who was fair, communicative, and very reliable and did an outstanding job! Stay away from Davey. read more

We contacted the Boulder office concerning treatment of our ash tree last fall. They were prompt coming out to look at the tree but it took weeks and numerous ignored messages left before we finally received a quote. In the meantime, I explored other options finding out Davey was willing treat our tree on November despite the fact it would have no effect beyond the growing season. Update to Davey Tree Review on 6/29/22. I was asked to reply to info@daveytree.com with further information which I did below. Davey Tree HAS NOT responded or contacted me to resolve this in any way. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING DAVEY TREE FOR ANY SERVICES. My response when I was asked to give more information to Davey Tree: I tried to contact a district manager over the North Denver office, who didn't bother to reach out to me and I got pushed back to Dan Howland (arborist) who indicated the only thing he could do was give me a 10% discount. I told him the same thing I posted on Yelp - "your kidding me, that doesn't even cover the cost of a dumpster rental". I'm very disappointed and upset with Dan Howland and Davey Tree. I've been using Davey Tree for years and spent thousands of dollars a year and this is how Davey treats their customers? Davey could NEVER control any aphids on any of my Pines and had to come back out several times a year to check and finally had to spray Safarai (the very toxic stuff, I preferred not to use). I just spent over 5K with another Arborist to remove the six dead Pines and have them replaced with much smaller trees. The Austrian Pines that had to be replaced were 25 years old and lived through all MY care and my crappy high sodium well water. I paid Davey to take over the watering, so I stopped all my watering and six trees died. read more

Regarding the Boulder Office under Kevin Marks: Incompetent and Unresponsive Poor communication between their district manager Kevin Marks and his crew resulted in my Cherry Tree being trimmed incorrectly. Our written quote was to trimJUST THE DEAD portions, but the crew trimmed nearly all that was left alive. Our tree will no longer produce cherries at a height that we can harvest. Contacted Kevin Marks multiple times over a two month period. He did come out to look at the work, but never responded as to how they might "rectify the situation". Asked for his manager but was told he was the district manager so no one higher to speak to. Terrible upset with what they did to our tree and lack of follow up service. read more

We contacted the team out of Boulder, and had Dave the Arborist come out and look at our 100+ year old Cottonwoods. We just moved in and were concerned because several of the trees were leaning toward the house and had several large limbs over the roof of the home. Dave was on time and was a wealth of knowledge. He understood our concerns and approached it from several angles- asking would we want to remove the trees or just mitigate the danger of limbs falling on the house through trimming? He checked the health of all of the trees and made recommendations about which trees should be trimmed and which might need to be removed due to disease or injury. He provided us with an estimate very quickly and then scheduled the work. The guys arrived on time and Dave even came out during the trimming to get a closer look at their work and make additional recommendations from up high in the cherry picker. The guys cleaned up the yard better than they found it. Don't trust anyone else to trim or care for your beloved trees! read more

We have received a few more of our scheduled services with Davey Tree including lawn fertilization/weed control and deep root fertilization for all of the spruce trees in our backyard. The fertilization they applied on our lawn worked really well this year and we were more pleased with the health of our lawn than we had been previously. The dandelion control was also very helpful. Update: I received a letter in the mail from Kevin Marks, my project manager. He apologized for not meeting my expectations. He explained that they had a new facility and new phones, and apologized for his staff's learning curve. I appreciate the apology but I personally left Kevin multiple messages on his voicemail without receiving a return call. That is not something he should blame on his staff. He did clarify the timeline for the initial tree removal, and it was close to what was promised, in 7 weeks. The contract had initially been lost, and although Corrine said it would take 6 weeks from mid-February, they did show up on March 3rd. We still differ on what he thinks he promised me for timeline on the stump removal. I believe he told me 1 month from tree removal, and he writes that he told me 2-3 months. He explained that the treatment of the stump only "helps" to reduce the small trees from regrowing, and it does not stop them completely. If this is the case, why wasn't this communicated to me? If I am going to have a tree removed, I expect the tree experts to inform me that it is likely that I will have tree sprouts reappear around my yard, and offer a solution. I've since spoken to other tree companies who've told me it is something they plan ahead for, and provide their customers with treatment they can spray on the sprouts to stop them from growing. Which is what I was promised at the post-removal appointment by Carl, who never followed up or returned my call. The part that gets me the most is that Kevin then continues to explain that I called and expected the roots to be removed, and that they were never part of the contract. Had he taken two minutes to look at my contract, which I have a copy of, it says: Cottonwood - in front Takedown & Haul all debris $1065 Grind stump & roots/ treat w/herbicide $385 I think it's likely he lost my contract completely. He says "we were not on the same page" with what was expected. The page in question is a contract, and had he looked at it, he would know what work was contracted. Although he didn't charge me for the stump & roots, I still have roots running across the surface of the lawn that need removal, and will have to pay another company to have them removed before I can lay sod. So when all is complete, I will have paid for the work anyways, and still had poor service. I don't see that as much of a concession. In conclusion, he apologized that his work was not guaranteed, and that he had completed his contractual obligations. Indeed, he did not. If I wanted to take the hassle to do so, this could easily go to court, seeing how I have proof of contractual obligations, and it seems as though he does not. All I wanted was for the work that was promised to be completed, and professional communication. I don't think that's too much to ask from a contractor. Still far from professional, in my opinion, and still causing me time/money/frustration which he is responsible for. read more

Buyer beware - Denver-based Davey tree company mangled our amazing pine tree slashing the healthy limbs only on one side of the tree and leaving all the dead ones including vertical hangars. As a consumer it is unbelievable that they are standing by their work. As someone who worked for a high-end boutique tree crew in Washington D.C. it is embarrassing to legitimate arborists. As you can see in the picture below this looks like storm damage but it is actually work that Davey Tree Service stands by. I had Davey trim a beautiful large ash in my front yard this spring. The neighbor reported they were only at my house for around 15 minutes. They took off a large branch in the front of the tree but didn't thin the dead branches out of the middle and the tree was uneven. There are branches sitting on top of my neighbor's evergreen that I asked them to remove. I called and requested that they return, but they didn't answer my call. I lost a large branch in the last snowstorm that I believe wouldn't have broken if they'd done a better job of trimming. Other ash trees in the neighborhood didn't suffer the same breakage. read more

The wind blew our tree off on 4/17 and within an hour of having called our insurance, Dan showed up, gave us the estimate, worked the paperwork with the insurance that same night (it was after 6pm then) and scheduled us for the next morning. Dan and both workers were professional, friendly, on time and efficient. The tree removal was done in barely an hour. They cleaned up our yard perfectly and even left us the firewood neatly stacked up! Highly recommend Davey Tree! Thank you. read more

The guys who came out and took down three dead aspens were great, but Davey Tree made paying the bill very difficult and time-consuming. (I'm surprised that works for them.) Anyway, I'm hoping they will streamline the payment process. read more
