I was a guest at the Residence Inn during a non-conference weekend. I dined at The Delegate for breakfast and lunch on 2 separate days. Devon and Trevor provided excellent service! I almost felt like I was at a fine dining restaurant. Again, this was a non-conference weekend so the hotel was not overwhelmed with guests. When I return to DC, I will come back to The Delegate just for the pancakes alone. They were perfection! I will be back. read more

Sooo ambience is nice. But the chicken and waffles is not as advertised. As per the menu, The waffle was supposed to be a jalapeño cheddar waffle. But what came out was a plain buttermilk waffle. My brother and I were staying in the Courtyard Marriott and decided to try out The Delegate for the convenience of being on the first floor in the same building. I now regret not walking a few blocks to find a better restaurant. When we arrived, we were quickly seated and our waiter seemed very attentive. Things quickly went downhill from here. Our waiter seemed to disappear after taking our food order, and then no one else working in the restaurant looked our way for almost an hour. We patiently waited for our food to arrive, and I finally had to flag down a bartender to check on the food. After waiting for almost an hour, we were starving. The bartender came back to our table after checking in the kitchen and asked us what we ordered. It became very clear that the kitchen had not even begun cooking our meal, as it seemed to have been forgotten. When the food finally came out 15-20 minutes later, our orders were wrong (no chicken on the caesar salad and the wrong kind of cheese on the cheeseburger). The bartender kindly brought out a new caesar salad with chicken on it. After finishing our meals, we again had to flag someone else down to refill our waters and bring us the check. After this 2+ hour experience, for what was supposed to be a quick meal in our hotel restaurant, we were extremely disappointed. Mediocre food - one colleague ordered the brunch pizza and it was not as described on menu. Hostess suggested that I find the manager to complain or leave a Yelp review. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I was tempted to leave until our server, Devon, changed my mind. The restaurant was in the lobby of a hotel and it was not the atmosphere i was wanted. Devon was incredibly attentive and friendly; this made me decide to order off the menu. We had the fried green tomatoes and chili lime shrimp for an app which were out of this world. I spent most of the week at the Courtyard and actually ate at this restaurant multiple times which is not normally something I do when I travel. I was more than surprised at the food. The dishes I thought were excellent, crab cake sandwich and the Thai shrimp app. Recommend those for sure. I had the crab soup which I really enjoyed. The only dishes I had which were just ok were at breakfast...the BEC sandwich and 901 breakfast....they were fine but nothing special. The service was great for the most part. The team was always very friendly, just a few hiccups with timing which I am sure is associated with this restaurant being new. Check it out if you are in town. read more

It's located at a beautiful location at the Marriott hotel. The service for this dining was terrible. If you are in a rush to get somewhere, I would not recommend eating here. The drinks & view are great. They also have a roof top which is beautiful. But service was terrible which made the overall experience terrible for me. Delicious, grrreat service as in the attention we were given from the management. Delicious food--I came with a group of six for brunch with a Meetup group today and it was awesome! At a conference, we wanted to hit the taco shop next door to "The Delegate" but the line was nuts and there was no available seating, so we came here. The waiter was excellent. Very personable and kept our drinks full. The restaurant was really loud and weirdly dark. The food was ok, but not great. I wouldn't specifically choose to eat here again. read more

The food was good, but this place really needs to work on their service. The servers were nice however, the food for the table was not brought out at the same time. Although, we had a large group, we had two people having to wait over 15 minutes for their food to come after everyone else already had theirs. Not ready to be open . Been waiting for this to open and tried tonight. Beautiful bar, a lot of staff. No drink menus yet and the bartender had to ask someone else what was on tap. One of those blank taps so patrons have no idea. Ordered two beers which were fine. Ordered two salads one with chicken. 40 mins later got them but instead of chicken was shrimp. Chicken came another 20 minutes later after we'd paid. Caesar and spinach salad were 95% lettuce and driest salad I've had at a sit down restaurant. Disappointed since we both live next door. I'm sure they'll work out kinks, but would advise staying away for now. read more

The service here is always friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing. Some notable favorites are: Apple cinnamon doughnuts with caramel sauce. 1.) A great way to start the day. 2.) The phoenix rubbed wings. They are just spicy enough to give it a delicious kick and the crisp crunch is so yummy. 3.) The crab and corn chowder is life!!! So creamy with all of the flavors blending and exploding in every spoonful. 4.) Finish off this amazing meal with the chocolate ganache cake. Ask for Devon!! He is an awesome server!!! read more

Stayed at the Courtyard for a workshop for the week and we had our reception in the back area of the Delegate. The most notable part of our experience was the service. Reuben receives this 5 star rating for not only providing excellent service but excellent entertainment. If you need to hear some good comedy or original poetry, make sure to ask for him for your server! He is going places! read more

I was very underwhelmed. Walked in with 4 other people around 6 pm on a Saturday. There were a few other patrons, but honestly it was pretty dead. There seemed to be a lot of staff around but it still took almost 10 minutes before anyone came up to us. And even then the bartender acted like he was doing us a favor to simply take our order. We came for the cocktails which it turns out they weren't doing.... so we got something else. Which was fine, but again underwhelming. Overall, you should skip this place. There are FAR better restaurants and bars close by that are also significantly cheaper. read more

I ate here today for brunch with a group. Wow, the service was phenomenal. Both the kitchen staff and management checked up on us and asked if we needed anything. It seriously felt like they were treating us like royalty. Everyone in my group got something different (I got strawberry French toast) and it was very tasty. My first poor experience with the restaurant is when I visited the bar just to have a drink. We were acknowledged after sitting for about 5-7 mins but no big deal. Once a bartender came over to us he said he would be back. He never came back to us. Then another bartender asked us have we been helped and then said he would be a few minutes until he could come back and take our drink orders so we just decided to go to another bar. Decided to come back and try the restaurant for brunch. Made a 1pm reservation for Sunday brunch. Called and confirmed our reservation was excited to attend brunch with a visiting guest from out of state and local friends. Arrived to the brunch to be told by the hostess they were out of space and it would be a 20 minute wait, annoyed but we decided to go to the bar. I go back to check in with the hostess she informs me that they are out of food for the day. After waiting for 20 minutes or prior to calling to confirm my reservation I would have like to have known you ran out of food. Mistakes do happen, it was the poor communication when calling to confirm and also speaking to the hostess twice, then later smirking and saying " we're out of food". I will not be going back for a third time for bad service. read more

This evening my wife and I went to the The Delegate restaurant where we are staying and sat at the bar. The service we received from the staff was phenomenal specifically from a young server named Antwan K. I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years and the service received by this young man was great! He was very personable, courteous and provided great customer service not only to us but to all the customers he served. For him to be a young man, you rarely get this kind of service. The drinks were perfect and the food was great but the customer service, again was phenomenal. Found this place on yelp so decided to give it a try. If it wasnt for the mimosa pitcher my waiter left on the table, this entire experience would have been a disater! First, it took at least 10 minutes before someone came over to at least take our drink order. This person wasnt even our waiter she was just sent to get us drinks. She wasnt sure about how the mimosas worked but either way i told her i wanted it. Shortly after that our waiter finally comes over and i tell him about the mimosa as well as our order. We wanted the donuts as an appetizer and then got pancakes and a side of eggs as our main dishes. FIFTEEN minutes go by since talking to my waiter and NO MIMOSA! At this point everyone is the room (6 tables worth of people) are mad and feeling ignored because no staff has come to check on anybody. One old couple got so mad that another table got their food first that they left! Finally i walked myself to the bar and told the bartender about my mimosa and they instantly poured me one. I guess our waiter was the waiter for all of these tables and literally every table stopped him to complain! We wanted to complain/ ask about our donuts but he quickly exited the other way so that he didnt pass our table . When he finally came to our table i needed a refill on the mimosa and asked about the donuts. I asked him to tell the kitchen to make sure the donuts are hot and soft please because i could tell they were struggling. It was at this point that he left the mimosa refill pitcher and thats the best thing he couldve done! About 30ish minutes after we ordered with our waiter a girl came over to "double check" our order. We literally ordered 3 simple things! It took about 45 mintues for us to get the donuts! And then they were raw in the middle!!! I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe they were supposed to have a gooey apple filling. My waiter professionally told me no! By the time we got the check half of it was free! Moral of the story if you get the bottomless mimosas it turns one crappy situation into a comical one! read more

Try the house burger and have an Eleanor trust me lol. But in general just talk to the bartender he's just a character he'll lead you to what you can't miss out on. BUSINESS TRAVELERS, BEWARE!!! If you neglect to BEG for an itemized meal receipt at the time you dine, you will not find the restaurant manager or hotel very helpful in getting you a copy. Seriously restaurant people, just because we may charge the meal to the room does not mean that we don't need itemized receipts for travel reimbursement! I asked the restaurant manager in person (while I was checking-out), then by email 3 times...have not even received a response acknowledging my request. This is a disappointment because the restaurant is convenient (if you are staying at the hotel and attending an event at the Convention Center), but ultimately not worth the trouble. These meals were far too expensive for what they were for a business traveler to have to "eat" the costs. read more
