I thought this place was called Milk and Honey, and that the Delegate rooftop bar was separate. Not sure if they're the same or not, but this review is for the restaurant on the street level, not the rooftop bar. We were seated immediately, and our waiter took our order in a timely manner. However, after that we waited for our food for an hour. We tried to flag down the waiter to request more water while we waited, but he assumed we were going to ask about the food and shouted "your food will be right out" as he kept walking without letting us speak. They finally figured out our food had been given to the wrong table. It took an hour and a half from the time we walked in to the time the food was brought out. I was there for a conference and had to miss the first session. Thankfully, they comped the meal, which I appreciate. But the waiter didn't tell me that until I flagged him down after I had been sitting there with my credit card on the table for 15 minutes. We came here for my birthday brunch! Our bartender, Sean, was amazing! She make sure that we were well tended to throughout our dining room. I'm familiar with Milk and Honey's other locations throughout the DMV area, so I was excited to find out that there was another location at The Delegate. I had the crabcake Benedict and fried green tomatoes. My friends had the shrimp and grits and the crabcake hash. We were thoroughly satisfied with our meals. They have an extensive drink menu as well. I love that we were able to enjoy customize mimosas on a Monday. I stayed at the Courtyard and while there I ate at the Delegate many times! I had the awesome Chef Sammy's shrimp and grits for dinner - it was delicious! They were out of their Raspberry white chocolate cheesecake and the chef came out and apologized and offered me the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake and I thought I wouldn't like it - but OMG it was the best cheesecake I haven't ever had!! The Delegate Rooftop was the next stop after Milk & Honey. The rooftop has great views from every angle, which make for a perfect evening vibe. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. Stopped into the Delegate to meet a friend who was in town on business. It is located right in the Courtyard by Marriott near the Convention Center. I enjoyed the fact it is metro accessible. When I arrived, it was a few people at the bar and I was able to grab me a seat while I waited for my friend to come downstairs. The bartenders were super friendly and welcoming. It's always interesting when you visit a restaurant located inside a hotel because they can be unpredictable. The ambiance in this location is very nice and welcoming. Our waitress Taylor was good and was able to answer questions and give honest opinion on the food that she has tried which is a good thing. You never want someone to tell you something is good when they know its not, so honesty is important. She was really attentive and made sure we had what we needed. I had the cajun shrimp and grits. They said its award winning, however, it wasn't on Sunday, March 12, 2023 when i tried it. The sauce was good, however it was in my opinion too much sauce. The shrimp was ok, felt like they could have given more especially with the dish price of $30.00. The grits were ok, they were not soft and cheesy as i anticipated they would. They were more solid as if they were sitting for a while and began to harden. Grits are a hit or miss, you either know how to hit or you don't. Unfortunately, they were a miss on this day. However, i did try the bourbon bbq chicken wings, which i found to be amazingly good. The taste was on point and by far better than the shrimp and grits. the only downfall was you only get 5 at a cost of $14.00, which is pretty prices given i can order 20 at home for almost the same price. all in all, service was good, food was ok, i would not visit again. read more

This is a generous review as I would have rated this place a '3' for the below reasons. The burger and the service from Andre were 5 star. Stayed at the Courtyard, and dropped down Saturday morning to calm the hair of the dog. 1. Platinum Elite entitled me to two $10 vouchers...the server (and her peer) confirmed they can't be used for alcohol - hence visa saved the day funding a $11.00 cranberry and vodka. While I did not have my readers, upon return to the room - the voucher clearly states "can be used for alcohol". 2. The cran and vodka above was the result of them being out of bloody mary mix. Is there a manager? 3. Second chance after lunch, following a massage seeking a quick bite before a nap - ordered a brooklyn brown ale as the only amber on draft kicked the night before and wasn't recharged. The Brooklyn was not drinkable as the staff noticed the cooler was off when they reached for my order, only to inform me - the beer was warm....hence back to Cranberry and Vodka. Any other place I would have walked out ....but I can be stubborn....settled on burger and wine. Burger cooked perfectly, bacon crispy, bun toasted. Customer service from Andre carried the day. Food came out before the coffee. Biscuit was a left over from at least a day ago, poached eggs and firm yolks. Water tastes like cleaner is in the line. Staff were inattentive and the side of grits came out after the rest of the meal was already done. I wasn't expecting much for a hotel breakfast. But a fresh biscuit and a properly cooked egg doesn't seem like much to ask for. read more

The atmosphere is amazing the service is top notch. Today when I visited the Milk & Honey café I was completely amazed being as though my first experience on H St NE was terrible. Our servers Arion and Melanie did an out of this wold amazing job. Melanie took the time to listen to what I wanted with the crab benedict when I explained to her that I couldn't eat a runny egg and like my eggs fried. This crab benedict came out better than the café on H St NE. And their honey butter biscuits are to die for. I told the manager my complement to the chef but I suggested that the honey butter biscuits will do better with the crab benedict and he loved the idea. 2nd time staying at the Courtyard and Residence Inn. One thing is constant... service is lacking. No one to sit me at the hostess stand. Had to go to the bar to get help. Then it takes 20 minutes for someone to ask me what I would like to drink. Asked for a refill and was told they would get to me when my waiter came back from leaving the bar area, twice. Had to have someone else help me cause he never came back to help with my order. Went to the Marriott Marquis bar the next night where the service was much better. Will stay at the Marquis for my next three trips in 2024. read more

Sat on the rooftop for restaurant week, be aware that your order will feel like room service (take out boxes). Some drinks aren't "orderable" on the rooftop but the app doesn't tell you that. I would skip the tip or give a lower one bc they don't wait on you. We had to ask for everything. I ordered the fried catfish with grits, fried green tomatoes, and bread pudding. The food was way too expensive for the quality and taste. I don't need to come back. The staff was very friendly. Rooftop is nice, it closes at 9pm on the weekend. BTW "the delegate" is just the name of the facility, the food is from the College Park restaurant named Milk and Honey. Went there this past Monday for the first time. I was with my brother. We wondered inside without it deliberate as a destination. From the moment we arrived we loved it! It was happy hour. We decided to have brunch at Milk N Honey after checking out at the Marriott Hotel on Sunday afternoon. We were seated promptly and our waiter was very attentive. However, the food was mediocre and nothing like the stand alone Milk N Honey establishment, which was disappointing. We ordered the Delegate Breakfast, French toast, and honey biscuits. The Delegate was fair, though the eggs were not fully cooked and the biscuits were nothing like the original Milk N Honey. The French Toast was, unfortunately, not like the original and used regular toast (not brioche). The meal also had a hair in it! Thankfully, the manager was kind and responsive; she had our order re-made and comped our meal, which was generous. The ambience was lovely--great lighting, calm music, and good seating. If you want a great breakfast I would highly recommend skipping the Delegate and heading straight to the stand alone Milk N Honey location. read more
