The Den was "okay". I was underwhelmed by the place after the hype. I brought a mom friend here just to see it was mainly a gated area parents must pay admission to after they already pay for their child and buy their coffee/pastries was a little bit of a letdown (but with high prices in Denver I'm not sure there is a better option for them to make rent). The matcha I bought wasn't very tasty, but I'm willing to go back and support local to try their coffee next and update my review. There are three tables for public use without a child admission, so may not be the best place to hang out on a busy day in case you can't find a table, but probably worth grabbing a drink to go for the convenient location. They do have a short list of providers and offer classes which is a wonderful use of space for the mom community. read more

We visited The Den for a coffee, but feel somewhat misled by the photos on Yelp and elsewhere. What looks like a coffee shop with lots of spaces is actually a social play area for families at a steep monthly cost. The coffee shop itself is small, with only three tables. We stayed for a coffee anyway. My Americano was pretty good and my son enjoyed his hot chocolate. My husband ordered a drip coffee and was told a refill was included. But when he returned for a refill there was a new barista who charged him for it, saying they didn't offer refills. Three and a half stars for the original barista and the fact they have gluten free goodies. But I doubt we'll return. read more

We ended up here for a quick breakfast on a Saturday morning. I ordered a large brown sugar latte, a bacon breakfast burrito, and an almond croissant. The coffee was good, I liked the brown sugar syrup, but it wasn't anything above and beyond another coffee shop coffee. I liked that the burrito was grilled, but the filling wasn't my favorite and some of the pieces of bacon were just pieces of un-rendered fat. I really wanted to like the croissant, but I didn't realize and no one told me when I ordered it, that it had blueberry on the inside, which is not a fruit I enjoy. What a great business idea - we need more spaces with the same concept in the Denver area, especially in different parts of the city. Basically, it's a coffee shop/meeting space, combined with a large play area for kids with things like crafts, toys, and various activities for kids of all ages. I've met friends here a couple of times and have always enjoyed the food, coffee, and of course the hour(s) we spend there. I've brought my daugther at several different ages, and she's enjoyed herself every time. It allows me to hang out with friends while she's also in a safe environment. My one complaint is that adults have to pay admission as well even if you're just paying, which doesn't seem worth it to me since I'm just hanging out & not really "using" the space - it's meant for my daughter. I get paying if you're there to work, but I do feel there should be some sort of distinction. I feel they could attract more people if they changed that rule. Despite this fact, I do love the space & think it's very well designed & would go back sooner if we still lived in the area! read more

Stopped by The Den around 1:30 PM and had a pretty solid experience overall. The space caught my attention right away--there's a clear divide in the layout, which made me think the cafe might double as a community hub or something like that. Once I was ready to order, my drink order was taken immediately--super quick and efficient service. I tried two drinks: - The Grinch (3/5): This seasonal matcha drink had salted caramel, but I could barely taste the matcha, and it leaned way too sweet for my liking. It was okay, but nothing I'd order again. - Raspberry Italian Soda (4/5): Simple but enjoyable. Not groundbreaking, but it hit the spot. Service gets a 5/5--the barista was friendly and quick to prepare the drinks, which is always appreciated. The Den is my favorite place to go with my toddler and friends -- warm, welcoming, and so thoughtfully designed. The family area is curated (not chaotic and germy like most kid places), and my toddler is obsessed. Because the whole space is so open and well laid out, parents can actually sit down and have a real conversation with friends while the kids do their thing. The concept of the Den is a dream for parents or young children. A modern, enclosed play space that is not a grimy fast food restaurant! My 20 month old loves it here! When you first walk in you see the coffee shop where you can get coffee, snacks, and pay for entrance to the play space. Right now you have to pay for children ($10/each) over 1 AND each adult ($15/each). They also have a family subscription model. I have talked to the owner about a punch card option which I am hoping they roll out soon. The play space is geared towards toddlers. I would say, 1-3 years old is the sweet spot for most enjoyment. There is the main play space where parents can relax and have their coffee as the space is closed off! It has a play kitchen, tent, climbing cubes, busy boards where kids can work on fine motor skills, trucks, dolls, and other assortment of toys. There is a nursing or "relax room" with comfy chairs and warm lighting. There is a classroom with crafts supplies, magnetic tiles, and puzzles for kids to get into. We love spending mornings at the Den. I have connect with many parents there and everyone has been so nice. I will note that things can add up fast when you include admission, snacks, and coffee (like anywhere in the city). But after my first visit I learned It is also not required that you buy food or drink to enter the play space! So you can also play and bring snacks from home if that makes the space more accessible to you. read more

What a magical space for community. Think of it as your cool and gracious friend's living room. There are high chairs, open ended play toys, toys aplenty, no hard edges (if you have cruising toddlers), and an arts/crafts and stem closet for older kids. Plus there's programming like story time, yoga, mom nites out, and new things they're rolling out all the time. But honestly, the best part about it is the people that work there and the members to their social club. Absolutely love this place as a nanny! I found this place when they just opened and literally told every single nanny friend about it! Now we all meet there with our nanny kids. They sell coffee and snacks, as well as breakfast burritos, croissants, etc! The staff are so friendly and call me by my name by now. They offer great membership options that suit every kind of family. It's an amazing play space/coffee shop and the ambiance reminds me of your chill friend's living room kind of.
