A wonderful practice. Dr. Malters successfully treated me for acne for several years. He is everything you hope a doctor to be: intelligent, polite, personable, and kind. One thing that really stands out to me is Dr. Malters called me one evening from his personal phone to go over blood test results. How many doctors would do that? It does take a while to schedule an appointment, but the front desk staff is awesome about calling early if there is a last-minute cancelation. Dr. Malters even worked with me during a brief period when I had no insurance. I now live in the forth largest city in the United States, and I have yet to find a dermatologist as competent and caring as Joseph Malters. read more

When I arrived for my appointment with Dr. Stoecker, I was promptly taken care of by the front of house staff and taken back 15 minutes before my appointment. The nurse asked me why I was there and took my vitals which is standard with any Dr's office visit. My experience until this point had been very pleasant and professional. Then Dr. Stoecker came in. He is a very cordial, nice, and professional man in his demeanor and attitude. His practice is less than sub par. I had 3 lesion removals, one being the size of a dime. Dr. Stoecker looked at all the lesions, asked the nurse what she thought the best plan of removal was, instructed her as to what to instruments to retrieve for him, and them he started. This is where my one star review starts. ANYONE who has ever worked in the medical field or who has gotten a shot knows that before you give a shot you sterilize the area with alcohol. This did not happen. He didn't clean my skin at all. He just gave me the shots of Lidocane with no skin prep. Even after the shots, no skin prep for the removal. No alcohol, no iodine. He let the Lidocane sit a few minutes then proceeded to remove the lesions. In between the shots and the removal, he did not change his gloves to sterilized gloves. He just used the gloves out of the box on the shelf that he previously had on when he was administering the shots. The instruments themselves were serialized as they were in a packet that appeared to come out of an autoclave but once removed from that packet, they were put on a metal tray with no sterile barrier. The first lesion was not bad. It was a small removal with cautery. The second lesion which was the size of a dime and around 1 cm deep and he also removed and just applied cautery. I have seen smaller lesions stitched up for minimal scarring. This particular lesion was in a high movement area and did not hold with the cautery and would open up a bleed periodically over the next week. The third lesion was also cut off and cautery applied during which, the cautery pen slipped and part of my skin that was not numbed was shocked/burned. During this procedure he was using gauze squares to clean up the areas and it was, you guessed it, not sterilized. It has been over a month since I had my lesions removed and I do have scarring. I'm honestly appalled at the lack of sterilization of the procedure room, equipment, and staff. I will not go back here to have any kind of procedure. I gave a generous one star for the attitude of the staff. As far as practice is concerned, it deserves zero stars as someone will have a nasty infection one day. read more
