At first I was told 3 hrs, but when I told him I didn't have a ride & had to sit there he said, I'll do it as soon as I can. 45 min later I drove out of there, NO charge. The only good thing about this shop is the name. Terrible customer service and awful management. Lenny is the worst with customer service. They charge the highest prices around for any service or product. They try to add on fees anywhere and everywhere they can. They won't take good care of your vehicle or you as the customer. They will try to trick you into getting things fixed that don't need to be fixed and once you realize you can get better service elsewhere they will try to charge you for having your car at the shop even if your insurance company is affiliated with them.Go to Belle Tire or Discount Tire or even take your car to the dealership or different collision repair shop. This place is in serious need of new management and is not the repair shop it once was. Bethany you weren't there and don't know what your talking about. I feel that I was misled with cost of repairs. When I had asked what the cost to repair my vehicle was going to be, I was given their wholesale cost of parts... I unknowingly agreed and was shocked to hear that the final bill was $1700 more than quoted. What you pay for parts isn't relevant to me, what is relevant to me is the cost that *I* am responsible to pay after the repairs are made. I'm hoping that it was a mistake, hence why I'm not leaving 1 star. read more

Had my car for 2 days and it sat in the parking lot. they gave me little to no diagnostic for my car troubles then proceeded to try to charge me $230 for nothing! Didn't even scan the sensors ( i took my car to autozone and got my sensors scanned for free and it took less then 5 minutes) the feedback they gave me was "foggy headlights" and little things like that, that had absolutely nothing to do with my vehicles issues. they didn't even put it on a hoist or anything! they were rude to me and my dad as well. they told me my serpentine belt was messed up so when i went to go fix it, not only was the belt completely fine but there was no way they could've even seen my belt because you have to take the engine cover off and lower the entire motor to even SEE the belt. there was no way they even really looked at my car. they tried ripping me off and i fully believe it's because i'm a female! i will never return and i would NOT recommend anyone else to take your car here! Our family was driving home from Ann Arbor (Mott's Hospital) when our brakes failed. It was on the 4th of July weekend and after 5 pm. Not being from Brighton we had no idea where to go. A & H Transmission was referred to us. Lloyd stayed after hours to fix our car so we could make it safely home. Our family was very impressed with his generosity and willingness to help for such an economical price. Per our youngest daughter, "even though it was 90 degrees outside, he was still very nice and kind to get on the ground and fix our car." At the time, Lloyd probably had no idea what a blessing he was to our family as we were 45 miles from home, the car full of personal belongings as our youngest daughter had just gotten discharged from the hospital, no rental cars available in the area, and emotions running high. I've had two vehicles serviced by A&H. One had the transmission rebuilt at 130K miles, the other had the trans rebuilt at 160K. I sold the first vehicle, but the second one is now at 260,000 miles on the rebuilt trans! The owner, Lloyd, takes the time to make sure the job is handled right from start to finish. They recently redid the outside of the building and it matches the quality of the work that they do. They also send out coupons and thank you cards immediately after you bring your car in for service. Although they are a full service auto shop, I use them for transmission service. If you have even a slight shifting problem, bring it in sooner rather than later and they can diagnose it so you know what to expect. read more

First experience: About 4 years ago, I was driving to pick up our trailer from storage when the transmission on our 1999 Suburban started making some very nasty noises. We were near A&H so I stopped to get their advice. It was past closing time but the owner, Lloyd, who was just about to leave for the day offered to take the car around the block. I should mention at this point that we were preparing to drive down to Cedar Point the next evening for a weekend of camping with friends and we really did not want to miss that. Lloyd returned with the news that we would not be towing anything anywhere with the transmission failing as it was. He then told me that he thought he had a reconditioned unit of that type on the shelf. At 3pm the next afternoon we got a call to say that the "Burb" was ready to go. We got a one-year guarantee and the transmission has been great ever since. We have since taken a number of our cars to A&H and their work and advice has proved to be utterly reliable. Equally important, we trust them 100% - that's worth so much to me when dealing with a repair shop. I no longer think of taking our cars anywhere else. OK so here it is summer and my car tends to overheat when it's hot and I'm waiting for that red light to change. As my car is ONLY 10 years old (not dog years) and only have 141000 miles on the odometer, I kept wondering why it's overheating. As I sat puzzling this problem, I open the mail and LO & BEHOLD is a coupon for a radiator flush. AND it's less than $100.00. How can this be? Usually I get these deals AFTER I have the work done. You too,huh? Then the old light bulb gets brighter!! DUH!!! They rebuilt my trannie a few years back and I was pleased with the cost and work. Yep - I'm definitely Polish!! And blond to boot! I call and set the appt. for this morning. But wait!! I just found another coupon over the weekend while cleaning out that nasty "junk" drawer we all have for an additional $ 10.00 off!! How can this be? Where did it come from? Did the service gods look down and see that I needed some help? Nah - the hubby forget to tell me about it and just put it in the "junk" drawer. Personally, I think it actually was the service gods but... So, this morning I take my car in for its D & C, in by 10:00 a.m. and out by 11:10 a.m. I thought this was a really short wait and was glad to pay my bill (less the add. $ 10.00) and get back home. Not once did anyone come out and try to sell me a service or part in order to wring more $$ from me. And the guys were friendly and polite. Plus the place is spotless with tons of miniatures cars displayed and Route 66 paraphernalia on the walls. While I waited, I had to get rid of the mornings coffee. Ladies - the bathroom was CLEAN!!! No grease or oil anyplace. Floors were so clean they shined. I actually thought I had entered the Twilight Zone or that Candid Camera was filming once again. (Boy, did I just date myself or what?) Not sure what to do when the emissions light came on as I was planning to leave town I googled and this was the closest and the prior reviews were reassuring. The young man checked my vehicle & assured me that my car would be okay and to schedule when I returned. Did so upon returning and the service rendered was completed within that day. The service at A & H has been undefinably gracious to me these previous few weeks. I am not a manic driver but I do corners like a sixteen year old and my history with cars has been impressively unlucky. I had taken my car in the preceding week for its yearly maintenance overall and it had came out marvelously as I expected and always received. So that week I left for a friend's one morning. This was when there were still thick layers of ice on the harden dirt and snow smothering the rest of our world. Now on later reflection, I see it as tree hugging in the most exalted expression of passion between mechanics and nature but hopefully you've concluded I "fudged" my car up in fusion with a hickory tree juggernaut. At a closer inspection of the damage I pulled of the washer fluid container and its wires. The frame of my car on the right side was bent up like the doors on the sleek and futuristic DeLorean in Back to the Future...but it was on the frame covering my wheel so not really that cool anymore... After more hassle with the car insurance, as the process typically is, I get my car on to A&H and through their perseverance and determination my car is fixed and tweaked out within two weeks and under $2000 for something my insurance would've determined totaled. My family and I have been bringing our automobiles to A&H for some time for remaining to be trustworthy, honest, hard-working individuals. We've conversed and they were aware of my hectic situation, working full time and school and how extremely dependent I was on my car for commuting as well as how incredibly tight my budget had become with my income solidly diverged to school. The list of repairs is extensive and I know that they took each aspect into consideration to find the best negotiable solution. I'm am forever grateful of the diligence they put into their work and their empathy for what life consistently throws at people and their cars. Poor customer service. Performed service that I did not authorized. Treated with dis-respect and harassed, laughed at over the phone when asking questions about my car. "Detailed" description of problem, said diagnosis needs to be performed before diagnosis can be performed. Took my car to another location to have problem fixed (what I took it to A & H for), fixed within 4 hours, reasonable charge, no questions! read more

**** Buyer Beware***** I had taken my car in for Trans service advertised @$109.00. to replace transmission oil and filter. I asked them to inspect my brakes and check engine erratic RPM while my car was in for Transmission service. When I picked up my car they told me I owed $289.88 for their services. I was charged $50.00 for a brake inspection and $84.75 for an Engine Diagnostics. They said the brake rotors are warped. That their were no codes stored in the car computer. The error codes were erased 180 miles ago when my son disconnecting the battery, when he installed a new car radio. They found no erratic RPM. (Auto Zone & O'Reilly's do this for free!) It cost me $134.75 to find out that I need to replace my brake rotors and pads. (Belle Tire does not charge you for a brake inspection!) Last time I will take my car to A&H!!!!!!!!! read more

Do not go here Lloyd is not an honest person he told me my clutch was bad in my truck said he fixed it, took 3 weeks and $1400.00. I got it home and the next day the drive shaft fly's off then the starter falls off then after all that about 2 months later the clutch goes out again blamed me. Charged me another $900.00.Six months of pure hell this was back in 04 and I'm still thinking about it!! read more

My car broke down 2 and a half hours into a 5 hour trip. The service people at this station were very friendly and helpful. They examined my car with me standinqg there watching and showed me exactly what had happened. The harmonic balancer broke in half cutting my belts. The complany offered me a ride to a nearby location while they fixed my car and picked me up the next day when it was ready. They had offered me the use of a vehicle which i declined. They locked my car inside over noght so that i would not have to take bicycles off the back. If you live in the area i would definitely reccomend A & H Transmission.
