I didnt have a socket wrench to replace a headlight and I was in a pinch so I asked them how much they would charge me. The person at the desk said "they would need to remove my bumper to install the light and it would cost 82 dollars" Not only was that a bold faced lie, but that was also a huge rip off. A day later a friend of mine who had all the tools that the shop would have replaced it in 10 minutes without removing my bumper. If they charged 20 dollars I would have been happy and gone back there multiple times in the future. In my opinion they just wanted to take advantage of me. So either they tried to rip me off or they didn't know what they were talking about. read more

Do yourself a favor and take all of your vehicles to Kovach's Auto Service! My son's 2010 Subaru was in Grand Rapids and developed an oil leak. A local Grand Rapids garage gave me a written estimate in excess of $5,100 to fix the problem. I took the estimate to Kovach's. Pat and the Kovach's mechanic spent half an hour with me going over the estimate and determined that even if the diagnosis by the Grand Rapids garage was correct the cost should be no more than $3,100. I had the Subaru towed to Kovach's and they fixed it for $1,100. The car runs great. I have been taking all of my vehicles to Kovach's for over 12 years. I've been dealing here for about 10 years. Good friendly service and reasonable prices. I have taken my car here for repairs, tires and alignments. When in for an alignment, I was surprised to get a call that the front end was within specs and no alignment was necessary. They could have easily just taken my money or charged me a fee for checking it out. There was no charge. Only complaint I would have is that it sometimes takes a day or 2 to get in but that's indicative of their good reputation. read more

Failed to diagnose properly the only thing I brought my car in for. Claimed it only needed a new battery. Worked for 1 day, and then the car exhibits all the same symptoms, the new battery was totally dead, and now won't start and needs towing. They refuse to tow it back to provide the correct service they should have performed in the first place. I am worse off than when I decided to put my car in here. If you are thinking of a great way to effectively flush money down the toilet, AND have your car still not work... Kovachs might be for you. read more

Not from Brighton but was in town for work. Upon heading home, saw that my car was leaking coolant. Decided it would be best to get it checked out rather than driving home on a hot day. Called around and Kovach's was the first to say they could look at my car that day. Kovach's was wonderful. They looked at my car within 10 minutes, let me know what the source of the leak was, and helped me make an informed decision regarding repair. I went to this business for an oil change because of the review on yelp. I made an appointment and left my car there. I decided to have them remount some tires for me also. They called me 50 minutes later and asked where the locking lug nut was. They had not even started on the car. Finally, an hour and 45 minutes later I am set free only to have to return because they didn't reset my oil life indicator on the dashboard. Luckily a technician (John) came out and reset it for me. I got another surprise on the way home when I found a weird part on the floor of the front seat. When I got home I opened the hatch and everything was pulled out of the jack compartment and left there. Nothing was put back. Not only did they waste my time, I have to spend time putting it all back together and I didn't even get any kind of apology from the front desk people, just John who came out at the last minute to fix the indicator. I realize things happen...however too many things happened to make me a satisfied customer. read more
