It was black, not the bright orange one, not my color...doesn't match any of my wardrobe. I'm lucky to have this guy come up on me. The other two didn't flinch until I was ready to cash out. My guy looked at the other guy who wanted to take the sale. My guy at roped forward took over the cash register. Some territorial situation going on there! Funny... The store is a surf shop, swim suits, swim shorts, boogie board area with basics, backpacks, t-shirts, and etc. They do wear masks and require customers to wear their masks. Regarding tellia review, If you take your car to a mechanic and I notice a new dent or scratch... What would you do? I will take pictures, go back to the same mechanic and confront him/her. Probably you will take pictures, go to another mechanic , get it fixed , and then you will call first mechanic for your money back. It doesn't work like that! Always come back and confront in face when you have a problem, as I told you, if u did it, we could resolve this issues easily . Other issue, When u send me photos of your 4 dings that happened in my shop( as u claimed), we could c salt and reef color/damage if he away. What did you do? You accused me surf if you board, dinging it and covering it back with dust. There are a lot of things that I have to learn and get better as a business, you are right. But there are lots of things you need to get better as a person also, I am a hard worker, serious about my business and my quality of repair and service. By accusing me surfing your board, you cross few lines. I am not a corporation that have to say ' customer always right' I am a small business that provide to my family, and people like you trying to hurt it, that's why I can say, " customer not always right' but, I will always fix the problem if you come back and ask for it. My review for Roi at The Ding Kingdom Surfboard Repair is long overdue. On October 1, 2018, I brought my 8'6" board in to have Roi take a look at one of the resin skegs. I didn't realize it was separating from the board. Roi looked at it, gave me a quote and told me that he would give me a call when it was ready for pick up. I was kinda bummed because I really love this board and there was a South Swell running at the time. In the meantime, I was using my brother in-law's 7'0" board, which I had to get used to. On October 4, 2018, I get a call from Roi saying that my board was ready for pick up. I was like, "Cool! I'll be there in the afternoon." When I picked up my board, he did a terrific job. I used it to surf that afternoon and the board was more responsive. I guess I was riding a broken board this whole time, LOL! I can do some repairs but not all repairs. I asked some guys on the beach and all said to try Ding Kingdom.so I did. I broke 2 fins (futures) and had some other small pukas. The guy that help me ,I think is the owner was very friendly and seemed like he knows what he does. He explained me he process of the repair and mentions that he always want boards to be dry before he start the repair, that the only way he can provide a quality repair. I appreciate he cares for my board and felt good about it. Week after I received a call and my boards was done. I had to get my board fixed due to an incomplete ding repair by another company. He did great! Was super cool, even showed me my previous dings weren't fixed correctly. Turn around was probably a week n a half, with i think him fixing 4 dings and color matching + having to take off the previous ding repairs it was $120 i believe. He did great. My dings don't even look like they are there. Basically new. Really worth it. I wish i went here originally !! Thanks! read more

I ride a classic Sparky longboard and I only let Roi touch it. Because I ride east of Diamondhead there are many opportunities for hitting the reef. Whenever that happens I just go straight to Roi's. KG may…read morehave made boards in the past that people were buying, keeping him in the biz, but currently he's a hyperbole just tryin to stay afloat. Go to his tiny rented space on Mokauea St. to see for yourself. Many 'Backyard' operations have better facilities than his which is bare-bones at that. He is a one-man operation doing everything himself which is an indication of the volume of work he's asked to do these days. He shapes mainly by eye, racing toward completion while rarely utilizing measuring tools to confirm specifications are met to the buyers' order. His glassing work is super heavy which he rationalizes is what makes his boards stronger and less vulnerable to breakage in heavy conditions. This is fine if you don't mind a classic 'tank' board. However, if you seek a performance board that's built to your specifications, go elsewhere as that's an incongruent concept to KG.

Jake handled everything quickly and professionally, and he went out of his way to make it right--far beyond what I expected. It's easy for a company to look good when everything goes smoothly. What really matters is how they respond when something goes wrong. In that moment, Pyzel (and Jake in particular) absolutely delivered. They turned a frustrating situation into an experience that strengthened my trust in the brand, and I'll continue buying from Pyzel for as long as I'm surfing.

I phoned in November 2019 and was told I would need to give Pyzel a two to three week lead time on the construction of my custom order. This was good news as I was still undecided about the shape and glass. Phoned back a few days into December and was told by Riley the previous time frame quote was highly inaccurate. He stated I needed to pay 50.00 to make sure the board was done on January 12th (Sunday). As I understand things happen and people are sometimes wrong, I processed the payment and agreed the 12th would be the pick up date. Fast forward to January 12th... plane landed and prior to going to Honolulu, we rented an SUV and drove to Pyzel on the North Shore to grab the board as promised and paid for.. when we arrived the shop was closed. The website and yelp said the shop was open 7 Days a week. These were the hours when I was in town in October. 100+ dollars later for the rental, tired from the flight, really did not want to deal with shop politics. I went over to the Waialua Surf Shop as I purchased two boards from them in November and remember them having some friendship tie to Pyzel. I asked the shop if there is any one around who could grab my board for me. The kid at the Waialua Surf Shop phoned his father, and got the shop open for a min. Bottom line, nobody wants to be that guy who bothers people, everyone just wants what they pay for and what is promised.. I absolutely hate putting people out, even if I am in the right. Bums me out when there are negative vibes as soon as I am gearing up to relax and enjoy my break away from life. Unfortunately this we not the end, when you custom order a surfboard as most know you can have an inscription put on the board. I always put dates and locations of where I got them. Learned this later on in life as I wish I had kept all the skateboards and snowboards I had throughout the years. As we all know these boards travel all over the world with us, it's nice to have memories. When I was given my board I felt very rushed. I have had custom longboards sent through mail that got better communication and service. The inscription I requested was not put in the board. The excuse I got was, someone in the shop said it did not need to be on there.. why ask if you are not going to honor the request. It does not stop there.. I custom order the board to have a round tail.. as in the photo I attached this is a squashed tail, or at best a rounded square! Definitely not round! Pink Sheet clearly says round.. Why not call and say can we just put your last name because we don't have 2 Seconds to write North Shore 2020. Or sorry we forked up and made you the board with a squashed tail, you will love it.. Why not a call saying don't make the drive, we will be closed on the 12th due to shop shortages on employees. Why not offer me a partial refund or anything at all, even a sticker... lol for the multiple moments of "thanks for the business, however we don't really care about you or if you return". Jon ended up texting and offering to talk, I however am not interested in why I was treated poorly, so "sorry" these days does not work anymore. Sometimes you have to actually show you care about your customers. If I decide to order from them again in July or November, I will update this review to reflect future business dealings. However at the moment this is the best I can give. If you want a good quality board, and you are a paying customer you may want to look at other quality made boards, they are out there. Pyzel, makes a great board, but when they are making it, they don't read the pink sheet clearly. They will give you 75% of what is promised, but at full price!!!

Flight boards Hawaii is operated by Keff C., it's located on Channel st., right across of Restaurant Row. It's very easy to find. It is better to call Keff first to make an appointment especially if you're going on the weekend as the building is secured. I heard about this place by word of mouth, then checked out their website. When I called and spoke with Keff he was super cool, polite, easy to talk to and easy to schedule an appointment with. I had in mind which longboard I was leaning to. When I got their Keff was very helpful and just totally honest on what would most likely fit how I surf instead of pushing me in another direction just for profit, he also made things easy by having all the accessories I needed for my board in stock! A one-stop-shop is not just a figure of speech when you come to Flight Boards Hawaii. The prices here are reasonable and totally down to earth! I got set up with the 9'-1" Makaha Epoxy Longboard, board sock, Day bag, and 6.5" box fin... all in a single visit. I need to also mention that the Flight brand Day Bags have a unique design that allows space for the sidebites and a Velcro opening for the box fin instead of a zipper. This allows the fin to be sealed from both ends. In all honestly this review is based on just meeting Keff for the first time and going down to Flight Boards and just simply checking it out. Like I said it's a cool little shop, its laid back, has a vast selection of boards and lots of friendly knowledge!

All experienced surfers, the shop staff were eager to share knowledge and discuss boards and breaks with someone who knew nothing. It's easy to let an hour slip away just chatting with them, so welcoming. I was super pleased with the board I eventually got (ironically, a new board) and they gave me a deal on the board + fins + leash + bag + wax. And then I took the board out and immediately sliced a rail open on someone else's fin ‍ Figured it was done for, but still I took it in to them for repair because the owner was insistent. Their rates were very reasonable and they had it done in just under a week, and apparently this is generally a difficult repair, but it looks like new. Another thing that impressed me was that I witnessed a consignment deal when I brought my board in for repairs. I felt like both parties got a good bargain: one guy was able to sell his short board in under a day, and the other got a very fair price on it. It's nice to see locals benefitting like that, and a local surf shop connecting them. The owner Alex is a gem, too.
