We had a great time at Dinner Detective. The interactive format was fun, the actors stayed in character well, and the mystery kept everyone engaged throughout the evening. The experience was well organized, and the audience participation added a lot of laughs and energy to the room. The only drawback was that it was sometimes hard to hear the actors, which made it easy to miss parts of the story. Delightful evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Held in smaller conference room at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Seattle, we actually also spent the night in a Space Needle view room to top off our anniversary celebration. Taylor was the Dinner Detective hostess, and did a great job running the show. Check in was quick& easy - be prepared with your fake name - we were Dante & Trixie. I paid the $20 extra to make hubby a suspect (unbeknownst to him!). It was fun, we laughed a lot and got to meet some great people. Each table seats 8 people. The food was very good - we both had the chicken. There was a basket of warm rolls, spring rolls and mini quiches on the table as well.The dessert was super delicious. Salads were waiting at the perfectly set tables when we entered the room. The no-host bar had a great selection of hard alcohol, beer and wine. Clues are given out on QR codes at your table. It was well organized and fun. Yes it was campy - but that's what made it fun! I haven't seen hubby laugh that hard in a long time! read more

We went this past weekend at the Crowne Plaza in Seattle. It is kind of tough to review. I do not want to say too much, but give some indication if it is worth attending. First, if you are signing up for this, consider the "suspect" package if you are bringing friends and want a nice surprise for them. After you register, you will be assigned a table and at some point the mystery begins. The story and the actors are excellent. It is funny and tough to figure out. The food unfortunately is kind of what is expected and not great. It comes in plastic trays--which makes it easy to deliver. You start with a salad (which is fine). Next was salmon, potatoes, and broccoli. The salmon was a little dry and without flavor. I also tried the chicken and that was a little better. The dessert was a German chocolate cake, which was the best of all. The portions are small--we left hungry. If you are interested in the mystery, this is definitely worthwhile--but maybe eat dinner first. read more

We were seated in a Lovely, but small banquet hall, and it looked beautiful with the tables set. Most of us had code name ( by choice). The excitement was in the air as we were to mingle with the other 120 or so guests, to get clues about the murder mystery that was about to commence. Our delicious hors d'oeuvres were served and the show began. Of course we didn't know what to expect and little did we know the the next two hours were mass confusion of what the murder unfolding before us was about. We could not hear the majority of the scenario. The script was poorly written, and the actors, we hoped to believe, were last minute fill in's. Your rescheduling policy and $40.00 per person rescheduling fee are absurd and dangerous, especially during the pandemic. My wife and I responsibly did not attend your performance due to her severe cold and potential infection of others. We notified you by email prior to the performance and asked about rescheduling. You responded that we would be subject to a $40.00 per person rescheduling fee if we wanted to see the show at a later time. Being conscientious individuals we decided not to expose others to her virus and not attend. It is clear that you are one of those companies that value your profit over the safety of your audience. I find that shameful. I recommend that those thinking of attending be extra cautious about their health and safety knowing that the Dinner Detective's rescheduling policy encourages the sick and contagious to attend. read more

A bit corny and overpriced, but if you like punny dad jokes, it's for you. The actor playing the killer is awesome. I left this review to get a shot glass because I collect them, but nobody verified anyway. The food was awful, the show was slow and predictable. Warning: Do not go there for the food. Food is basically airplane food served in a plastic container and plastic silverware you need to keep until the end. If you are looking for a nice meal, go elsewhere. I was hoping for something more "serious and challenging" but it was mostly "silly and simple". Yet, I still enjoyed the show. It was hard to hear people over the mask, but other than that it was fun. I can understand why they would want to make it silly and simple... As most people go there to eat and drink. I was expecting the tension and stress of an escape room :) Would I go again? Yes. I will lower my expectations about the food but I will go again for another script. read more

This experiencce was PAINFUL. Terrible "acting", couldn't hear them clearly because of masks, mediocre food and service. I know they tried, but DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! P.S. The "prize" at the end is a $100 giftcard to another Dinner Detective performance, given to one of the three people who paid to be one of the "suspects". This company needs to be investigated for false advertisement. For $95 we could have went out for a nice dinner and a movie. The food was served in plastic containers and so awful we didn't eat it. Not what the picture showed or description of what was being served. The plot was all over the place and everyone gave up halfway through. The actors were dressed in weird costumes that made no sense and yelled the whole time making everything confusing. There was hardly interactive audience participation other than "raise your hands in the air" or "stand if it's your birthday" "and can we get a drum roll". For few of us in our group it was one of the first times being in a group setting since the pandemic. The seating situation made no sense at all. I offered to pay for everyone in the group because I felt responsible for encouraging it. Show ended at 8:22 and this was the First time we have been together in a while. Now I have to deal with this whole payment system I didn't ask for after the tickets were already purchased. Left in tears....do better. read more

Came here to end my Seattle trip and I loved it! My friends were nervous but totally enjoyed it. Had the chicken dinner which was very tasty! Definitely recommend this for anyone in the area. They have other shows so will look into the one in San Francisco which is closer to home. read more

Do not attend this show! I had a party of 15 people for my mom's birthday. We ended up here because Teatro Zinzanni closed its doors. Venue - F bad lighting, dirty floors, badly painted walls. This was a murder mystery dinner. One would think the venue would have a more sinister feel to it. No decorations, nothing besides cheesy tape on the floor to mark a body. The lighting was way too bright. It looked like a bad conference room for a ponzie scam. Food - F grade. Food was totally bland. No flavor! Fish was way under cooked and chicken piccata was dry with no sauce. Salad was out but no idea how long it sat. Rolls were hard and cold. Asparagus, gross. It was awful and it cost $85/ticket! Someone is making money. I could have gone to a fantastic restaurant for 85 bucks. I was embarrassed that I brought a party of 15 people to this place. Show - was mediocre. The actors were fine, corny but silly. At the end of the show you find out that they only get paid by tips, so someone is charging 85 a head, renting a shitty conference room, and serving awful food and walking away with the money. The actors get screwed. Do not give this place your money. Take your friends and family to a local joint! I would never recommend this to anyone. I wish I could get my money back. read more

Save your money. The location was recently moved to crown plaza. The room this was in desperate need of maintenance and cleaning. Not only was it dirty, but the ceiling was super low. On arrival, the salads were at the table, kinda gross to not know how long it had been sitting there. The drinks were almost 10 bucks for a coors light. This is a drama act, probably put on by a local high school. The description says it's a funny interactive show, but it's not funny; it's corny, poorly executed and makes no sense. The interactive portion is five minutes of talking with 80 people shoved in a room with dumb questions like what do you for a living. Then the main corse comes... Taco Bell would have been better. Had a great time with my friend for a girls night out. Very entertaining and loved the crowd interaction.

Went on New Years Eve for a friends birthday. We were very disappointed. The acting/improv was really immature. There was no real tension or surprise build up. All the characters who die did an over the top death which was supposed to be funny but wasn't. As I said before the whole show felt very amateur and immature. The food was mediocre. One of the worst things I've ever experienced. We ended up leaving mid way through because we couldn't tolerate the terrible event any longer. None of it was easy to follow or interesting, the acting was horrible and lame attempts to be funny. Could barely hear what they were saying. The food was disgusting. Our choices had been chicken Parmesan or eggplant Parmesan and we were given bland chicken breast or the vegetarian dish was these meatballs which I'm unsure if they were meat or not but they looked so gross with this unflavored tomato sauce and zucchini strips. Unlike the pictures you see, the food didn't even come on plates, it came in microwave style covered plastic dishes. For the high cost this "show" is, it's such a waste of time and money. We absolutely loved The Dinner Detective! Our company attended the show for our holiday party and everyone had a wonderful time! I'm actually quite surprised by the negative reviews. The Venue: The murder mystery dinner took place at Hotel Deca in a private room across from the lounge. It was plenty large enough for our group of 32, yet intimate enough where it was easy to mingle. The Show: We all thought the show was creative and interesting! The audience interaction was great. I particularly loved how they incorporated our employees into the storyline as suspects. It gave the show a personal touch and an edge to the performance that you wouldn't normally have at other shows. The Food: All of the dishes were delicious! They provided the option of salmon, chicken or butternut squash lasagna for the main course. The Booze: Our company sponsored a wine and beer package for our group and we had plenty of options to choose from! My only suggestion might be to have a server or two refilling beverages throughout the show. Although, this did not impede are ability to throw a few back. ;) Overall, it was a fabulous time and we have some great memories! Wow this was fun dinner show! All the actors were great. The detectives were hilariously over cheesy(but in a good way). The show was fun even if you didn't really pay attention or know what was going on. Which was good since my group wasn't really pay attention! The reason behind why the person did it never really was explained or I just didn't get it! But still fun to watch the actors. The food was good. Appetizers and salad to start. The chicken dish was delicious. Not huge portions but that's ok. The dessert was super rich!!! But yummy! When they bring out the food that was a good time to go get a drink. If you bought ur tickets on groupon or goldstar you were lied to. On groupon they state their tickets are worth over 100 dollars.YOU DIDN'T GET A DISCOUNT. They sell the tickets on their website for the same price which is around $75. The show is corny. I paid over $150. I contacted them and they stated I didn't get charge taxes so that's my discount. WAIT A MINUTE. I thought I was getting 25% off. Food- chicken was dry. I regret buying tickets to this show. I don't recommend it as they lie. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more
