COZY MOVIE HOUSE ON CAPITOL HILL. My wife and I were there for a private event The seats all have tables and a QR code for ordering food. Apparently they do show classic and cult films. Check the schedule. The theater is pretty small there are tables for 4 and also for two. So you can sit with your friends! The screen is not giant like the mega theaters but large enough to enjoying this smaller space. We will be back.

Saw Fire Walk With Me here and it's such a cool local spot, highly recommend! The staff is very sweet and they do intermissions which is rare and needed sometimes!!

I love this place! They show B-movie horror, animated movies, and cult classics - I've come here for years for their regular showings of The Room, Rocky Horror and Hausu. The service is good and they have cute themed drinks.

In common this is a good place. We were here at Stargate movie. You can enjoy good old school movies with food and drinks which you can order. Also it's a good idea to invite some experts which will discuss about movie before and after. All these things a definitely pros. But cons also were and they are pretty big as we think. One thing is uncomfortable chairs and sofas. There are not so big spaces for your legs between chair and table. And of course it's not so comfy to seat about 3 hours on chairs. Another thing is bad smell. It was until people do not order their pizzas and pizza flavor has become sensitive.

What is your Seating Capacity for Rental?

Hi Mayson, total seating in the theater is 120, but we have been holding that to 70 during covid. Rentals are currently on hold during the Omicron surge but we will be bringing rentals back when things calm down.

How is the ventilation in these Covid times?

Hi Xana, yes we have the HVAC running continuously when we are open. We have also installed Upper Room Germicidal UV lamps for disinfecting the air above people's heads. The staff is all vaccinated and wearing masks. All customers must present proof… Read more

I would like to say the best thing about theater is the people who work there. The worst is that…read morethe bathrooms are only on one floor (in between the two floors where the movies show). I am in a wheelchair so it's a pain to go up and down and wait for the elevator, which can be slow at times (and I had to cancel a trip due to the elevator being down one day). Other than that, it's usually quite clean and the food is usually hot and ready. However, they only have concessions on one floor, and there was a time I had to skip refreshments as no one was at the counter, I think they were in the back putting up new stock, and I had to leave due to my movie starting. A few times I missed out on specific food items as they were either totally out, or they didn't have an extra employee to go to where they stored it to get more. Understanding, but disappointed. I've worked retail all of my life, so I know how those things can happen. I would say they need to get new carpet, but that is a small quibble. I noticed a few people comment on the drink area being a mess. Usually, this is the direct result of rude customers, not cleaning up after themselves or not watching their children. Usually, the issue doesn't last long. It does get cleaned up. But if you are one of the people who are following the rude customers, you probably, don't care. You're just upset with what you are walking into. Just politely let one of the workers there know and I'm sure you they will tend to it right away. Unfortunately, the employees can't keep an eye on all of the customers all of the time, so, politely letting them know, will help them fix the problem. I recently moved close to the theater, so I am taking full advantage of their unlimited program. Very nice. I will say the selections of the classic movies, that are for one day only, can either be great or very lackluster. And for some reason in the summer, they don't show the extra movies (classics). The quality of the movies coming out can be rather hit or miss and lately, they have been more miss than hit, so it's always nice to have a classic movie to fall back on. I love how they show older B&W movies since TCM is no longer available to me. But I also love all of the classics from the B&W era through the 90s and even more current movies that have been out of the theater more than 5 years or so. It's always a great way to catch up to everything I missed before. I love movies. I have a huge physical media collection, but nothing replaces the magic of the Big Screen. Big pluses are the staff, the theaters are nice, 4DX is great (and even though you have to pay a surcharge if you have the unlimited pass, it's only a fraction of the full 4DX price). I would recommend if you go more than twice a month to get the unlimited pass, as it's a definite bargain. I would highly recommend this theater.

It's my favorite cinema experience and worth every penny but sadly Washington state only has this format at this theater an hour away from me. Me and my cousins were having a girls day in Seattle though and I suggested we see the new Michael Jackson movie in 4DX- it was incredible! I will return whenever possible to see a film in 4DX!

Even during the homeless days with the Capitol Hill and U District tweens with patchwork jackets and dogs mobbing around in packs this theatre was in good condition. I have over 20 years of memories coming here watching indie movies like Pirana, docuseries to Siff films. I also watched plenty of blockbuster films. My fondest memory is the smell of the popcorn that fills the front space. It is so distinct and the melted butter and grease on my fingers rubbed on my movie ticket is nostalgic. I love the indie vibe of the workers. It was a polite Seattle cool, depending on the era a little emo and punk, with some grunge. The attitude was very U District. I hope this theatre can raise the funds to fix itself up. It is one of my favorites and I hope it doesn't get boarded up. It still has so much life left.

At this point it felt like it's mostly dependent on personal preference so I decided to go in and find out. I thought the place is decent. The biggest attraction is that tickets are probably the cheapest in the area. Regular ticket price is around $16 for Seattle but it's $10 at Varsity (as of December 2023). And you get a dollar off if you're a student. Also you don't even have to buy the student tickets in person because you could just order them online (other places like AMC downtown, you have to go in person). I made sure to bring my student ID in case if they want to check, but it was never checked onsite. I think it's a little more shabby than AMC and other more commercial theaters, but it does its job. The movie started on time and there were no issue throughout the movie. I wish they could just shut off the ads before the screen turns on at starting time because you're facing a blue screen that shows nothing while the ad is blasting. On the other hand, I liked that there aren't that many previews to watch through to get to the actual movie I came to see. The bathroom is two flights up the stairs from the ground floor. It's well kept and smells ok, but they probably have to check the toilet paper inventory more often. By the time I went in, there were no toilet paper left at all so I didn't forget to inform the staff that before leaving. The staff was polite and accepted my remarks in good spirit.

Having said all of that, let me explain what I DID enjoy about my experience at The Boeing & PACCAR IMAX Theater at The Pacific Science Theater. It is the 2nd largest IMAX screen on the West Coast. The screen itself is 60 feet high by 80 feet wide & was introduced in 2015. The sound system is digital & is all encompassing in this somewhat dome-shaped theatre. After leaving the theatre, I am now considering getting a bigger smart TV (75-85 inches). The BEST addition, in my opinion, is that they have recently started selling craft beer & wine. Only local breweries & wineries so they are helping local businesses as well. Which is VERY fuckin cool. Now, would I recommend this theatre after all the bitching I just did? YES. NOW that I know what to expect, I can plan accordingly. Plus, this theatre has such a dedicated crowd of regulars. While I was there, it was apparent that a lot of these people enjoy seeing movies there and that made it suck a LITTLE less.

The arts, including performing arts, need space to make their work, and telecommuting is not a substitute. Examples are theater and dance performance. They need weeks, months, even longer, in person, as a group, in a heated space where jumping and pacing is not going to destroy their feet and bodies on up. This is one. Thankfully it is part of Seattle Central Community College, an institution who can resist the pressure to tear it down for apartments, condos or tech workspace, and play the long game of cultural evolution. It's back-to-back down Harvard with the Egyptian - that cinema space has found a home with SIFF. The Erickson rents their space to other performers and I saw my friends' performance there. The area is a parking nightmare weekends, but there is a paid parking garage at Harvard and Pine. Regular Seattleites probably know all the South Capital Hill parking angles better than I do! Of course the area weekends has many options for before and after a show. The theater itself has a respectable lobby. The house has comfortable seats and is small, intimate, with no sightline or sound issues. The lobby has a few couches and a bar. The two large restrooms are for everyone. Everything is neat and clean midscale. The sound is good. The stage has a good floor, but I don't think they have linoleum. There is really no fly space and no side stage area. Came for the opening of this shiny new spot yesterday. A gorgeous 3,000 square foot event space that was completely remodeled: with in house catering, vendors, event planners, photo booths, musician! And the food. It was like going to a super fun wedding minus the formality of it. The owner was there as well: super passionate and shared the story of how she bought this space sight unseen: took a long process in turning this into a gorgeous space that it is now. It was super cool! And the food!! They allow outside catering too but the in-house catering: Kaspar catering : baos topped with micro greens and mint. Steamed to serve! Poke rolls :delicious! Panna cotta : in a cup! Lisa Dupar catering: this one was fantastic as I've had a chance to taste their food in the past at a wedding. The gorgeous cupcakes, macarons, molasses cookies and stunning cake. All were so pretty! Mark ryan wine! I mean, what's not to love as it's one of the wineries I frequent in Woodinville wine country.
