we frequent this restaurant a lot- multiple times a week and this week we came to wine Wednesday. there was a large party that was clearly over served and a couple sitting on the patio with two dogs (a Frenchie and a very old boxer). one of the gentleman from the over served got up left the restaurant and walked up to the couple put his finger on the guy and told him he should put his dog down. the two guys got in a fight and the women at the over served table started videoing and taunting the woman with the dogs who remained seated. My husband went to help and I called the cops. we told the cops what we saw that the people clearly started this. Once the couple on the patio paid and left they were raising their glasses and taunting them and I looked at them they then started yelling at me across the restaurant and I told my server I wanted them removed that I come here 3x's a week and now they are harassing me she told the manager and she not only didn't come to my table but let them stay. funny thing is we had lunch at Belly's today with our Frenchie so clearly the owner is pet friendly. those people should have been removed-- they ruined our night! read more

First time eating here and was excited to try it out. I was surprised to how limited the menu was. Didn't have very many choices. Picked the Waygu CFS. There weren't too many people in the place, yet my order took a good while to make it on the table. Food looked good, aside to no gravy on the CFS. Food wasn't as hot as I was expecting and the steak lacked seasoning. Biscuit was a little too heavy and not light and airy. Went there for the first time. We ordered the Wagyu Chicken Fried Steak and the Sweet Tea Fried Chicken. The waiter was very friendly, but it took a while to get our food after we ordered it. The reason I didn't give them a 5 star was because when we got our food it wasn't hot and there was barely anyone there. The chicken fried steak was decent but felt like it was missing something. I did not try the Sweet Tea Fried chicken however it looked good. However if given the option to go back to this restaurant or Asiel's I would definitely go back to Asiel's. Would like to see more options added to the menu in the future. read more

My husband and I visited the Dirty South tonight (Friday 10-25-19) we had the chicken fried steak. My food was cold. The steak, potatoes and green beans. It started bad...the hostes were very preoccupied and not friendly. The waitress took awhile to warm up to us. Maybe it was just one of those off days since they have only been open for 3 weeks. We might go back one more time to give a 2nd chance. read more

The food is honestly SO GOOD. I've never had anything I didn't like. Love the Saturday/Sunday brunch menu as well. I only gave it two stars because the customer service is literally terrible. Like the worst I've ever had, and this has been on multiple occasions. Today we sat and waited for someone to come to our table for 15 minutes. Then it took another 40 to get our food. They were not super crowded and were well staffed. A lot of the staff was standing around talking to one another, which is frustrating. I really hope they can turn it around, because I love the atmosphere and the food. It seems like they need the manager or owner present and out on the floor making sure things are running smoothly. read more

Decent atmosphere, friendly staff. Not really family friendly to small kids on menu items or seating. Menu was unsatisfactory, steak listed as $14 on menu and I ended up being charged $34 for it. Once I brought it to the waitresses attention the friendliness stopped. I was brought a menu with a hand corrected amount listed on that item. Management also seemed uninterested in any attempt to handle the situation with a first time customer. The place has potential but I doubt I will return to experience it. Just tried to eat at this place and was told we would have to pay $15 per person to get in at 8:40 on a Saturday due to concert that they would start charging for at 9. Will not be back. Just wanted to have dinner. Should be an option for that. read more

Came back to my hometown for a little celebration and had Sunday brunch at this place. Being an Austinite now, it reminded me of some of the local restaurants here, and a much needed improvement for the Angleton area. Waitresses seem to be high school girls and a bit distracted by themselves, but not really a complaint. Got the plain ole mac and cheese and think it was the best I've ever had! Really enjoyed the vibe of the place, and kudos for bringing in these types of businesses to revive the old downtown area! read more

We live within 3 blocks and have enjoyed the food for lunch and dinner. Especially enjoyed the shrimp. I like to order with the remoulade sauce which they have but is normally served with a sandwich that they have on the menu. The bar made pecan bourbon they have is wonderful too. read more

My wife and I went for the first time on Saturday. It is a nice atmosphere with remodeled old building in downtown. The food was good. I enjoyed the chicken fried steak, still needs something to give it that special taste. We plan to go back. This is a great place for Angleton everyone needs to support it and give it a try. Walked in ten minutes after they opened...they were too busy to be bothered with us. Finally got seated by the server in ripped up jeans and an ironic AC/DC tshirt. After seating, she could not be bothered to walk the two steps up to give us our drinks and cold food, so we had to deliver it to ourselves from the other end of the table. Then, just to top off what I already had chalked up to my last time there, she brought me another Coke...and sneezed on it. We were traveling near Angleton on 28 December 2019 and remembered a restaurant that recently opened, The Dirty South. Cleanliness was good, order staff was good but wasn't dressed for the occasion. I mean, look at the bar and you see the servers in collared shirts and in the eating area the servers are wearing torn jeans and short t-shirts. We ordered Sweet Tea Fried Chicken which had more breading on it than meat and the mashed potatoes were cold. The other item was Sweet Potato Hash which was pretty good but didn't realize that the bacon was crumbled. Maybe it was a slow or off day but a little of attention to detail can go a long way. Servers should be dressed appropriately, don't let the food sit at the counter getting cold while you fill the ice machine. If we do come back to the area we might give you another try. read more

I thought I posted this a few days ago, however, I must not have saved and posted it correctly. I really wanted to give a 5 star review because the waitress Danika dressed as Harriet Potter, was excellent. She recommended choices with an expert level of product knowledge. She was friendly and handled my teasing like a pro the food arrived promptly and was plated beautifully and was hot, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Now the reason for 4 stars and 5........the menu.... oh lord, it was sitting on the table and resembled a placemat, which was fine and if that was a dual purpose I would have been happy, except no, they food stained and wrinkled and being recycled. The table had also been quickly wiped off but was smeared not completely cleaned properly Back to the menu, because I digresssed, why not just factor into the paper cost and make that menu a placemat, they arw not that expensive when printed in volumn and would be better than recyling, if not then laminate them and make them more sanitary. One final point on the menu, dark background made even the black bold print fonts hard to read. Sorry for being so picky, but these fine points are what defines a successful dining spot and I really want them to succeed. read more

Almost a 5 star.... a couple of picky points prevented a perfect score. The table was not very clean, and the menu was outright gross. The menu looked like a placemat, which would be okay if that was a dual purpose of it, however, they actually re-use them and they are wrinkled and stained. Also the background is so dark that even bold black print is hard to read. Why not put fresh ones out with each service and leave them as placemats and possibly as a soveigner for the diner to take with them. Now the great news, the waitress (Danika dressed as Harriet Potter for Halloween) was superb, she knew the menu, recommended appetizers, sides and asked all the rigjt questions to make sure we got what we wanted. The appetizer, was a homemade tator tot with bbq brisket and topped with chives and sour cream. It came to the table quickly and was hot and very tasty. The entress were excellent and the sides that were recommended were awesome. Everyone needs to try the cream corn brulee and sweet potatoes. All in all we will be back and with friends next time. Clean up the couple of items mentioned and everyone will as impressed as we were. read more

So I initially wrote out a massive review but I'll just get straight to the point: -The place is gorgeous! Who ever designed the inside did a FABULOUS job. -Waited a few minutes for the hostess to seat us. I requested a high chair & after looking for a few minutes, she claimed there were no high chairs available... so I directed her attention to the corner where one was visible. Awkward. -Customer service was not great, but not the worst. We had to ask for silverware and napkins after our food came out.. Our waitress also didn't have knowledge on what sodas they had.She was sweet, but clearly didn't have much training. -Great menu selection, but would've been better if the entire menu was actually available to order. 1 out of 9 tables had food -- so I knew it'd be a while. My brisket sloppy joe was cold, not even slightly warm, so I had request them to warm it up... twice. I thought it tasted pretty good though! My husband requested his tomahawk steak (I think that's what it's called) cooked medium... I kid you not it was cooked well done and looked like he got someone's left overs! I know how crazy the first few weeks can be so we are hoping it gets better with time. We will be returning in a few months in hope of improvement. This place has so much potential! read more
