My family was in Sargent on vacation and there's not many food choices there, we found ourselves going to the lake Jackson area a lot for meals, and the Fill Station was our best meal of the trip! The service was great. A friend and I went around 9 pm, on a Thursday, but they only had chopped brisket and Texas trash even though they are open til midnight. From what we tried, the chopped brisket was good, but wouldn't be our first choice. The Texas Trash was wayyyy too salty and I wouldn't get it again for the price. I would say it's a saltier Chex Mex. Nonetheless, we had a great time talking to the bartender and got the gin and prickly pear Moscow mule as well as the espresso martini. The drinks were good. I'd go back for the drinks, convo, and if I were to take someone out town here. The ambiance felt cozy considering it was raining and was pretty late at night. This place is super charming. We sat inside because it was chilly. Ultimately, I am glad we did because people were smoking in the tent/patio. We asked about the food. They were out of Turkey and pulled pork. I ordered the Bernie Mac which is a burnt end sand with Mac n cheese. The BBQ sauce is delicious. The Mac in cheese is creamy and delicious. The burnt ends were a bit on the hard dry side. (Maybe I have only had different types of burnt ends, because they were burnt and moist, with a bit of fat. )These were dry and hard. Not my fav, but they had good flavor. The bar area looked good. I want to go and have a cocktail and try the pulled pork. The Mac-n-cheese is worth coming back for. And the iced tea is good. For small town BBQ it's decent. It isn't the type of place that you seek out but if you want BBQ and work in the area it's a decent meal. What really bothers me is that all of a sudden they are charging for BBQ sauce and water. I've been ordering water at restaurants for years and this is the first time I have been charged for water. I've also never heard of a BBQ place that charges for BBQ sauce. I mean I guess if I order extra that would make sense. I know times are tough but charging for water and BBQ sauce is nuts. **Please do a better job of training your servers. When I ordered my 1/2 pound of burnt ends and 1/4 pound of sausage I asked for bbq sauce. I didn't ask for extra. When the server brought the table 4 saucers of sauce I assumed this was what came with our order (I was with colleague). If at any point I had been told this would be extra I would have declined as I didn't even use one saucer of sauce. I've never had this issue before at DJ's. There wasn't anything necessarily wrong with any of it, it just tasted bland. I got the chicken with two sides and a baked potato. The chicken was good but not memorable. My sides, beans and green beans, were very bland. They tasted like they were straight out of the can and nothing added to it. My baked potato was disappointing. Kids won't even eat their chicken sandwich. People come for the whiskey but they are not consistent in filling up the cup. Some people will get half cups vs some get full cups. The food was pretty good. I had the chopped beef sandwich and my hubby had the frito pie (actually really good). The place is new, so I'm sure they are working out the kinks. the bathrooms leave a LOT to be desired. The alcohol is pretty expensive, only one TV and it is inside, no heaters though it was cold and open to the elements. Service was decent but the server seemed to look down on me for ordering a mixed shot (they have lots of fancy whiskey and I guess that's their schtick) and he made a snide comment which was a turn off. They did have some neat cocktails (and adult juice boxes), but I didn't get try many. All in all, the whiskey selection is great, but the selection of other alcohol is average. Id go here again but probably just for lunch until some of the kinks are ironed out! read more

I tried this place because I wanted a change and to try their BBQ. I got the bbq potato thinking it was going to be a good portion. I got one dinky little scoop of beef and basically no butter. I asked for more meat and I got another scoop. By the time I finished (like 3 minutes) I was still hungry and over half of the potato left. The portions suck with the price. The music blaring everywhere also reduces attention from the waitress, and I had to stand up looking around until she came back with my check. We sat at the bar and we were very impressed with the bourbon/whiskey selection. They even had specialty drinks (I tried the Eagle Pear ) my favorite appetizer...the brisket nachos. Love this place, but stay away from the beef ribs. Maybe I got a bad one considering I have heard nothing but good things. I expect that if you pay $25 for 1 rib there would be some meat on it. I got ALL fat. Told them I couldn't eat it and gave it back, and ordered pork ribs. (Very good), but they still charged me for the $25 slice of FAT. Love the place and glad it's here, but I'll just avoid the beef ribs. read more
