Brought my dog Bentley to Robbie for a bath and nail trim yesterday for the first time. Needless to say I was very pleased when I picked him back up. He was beautiful, his nails were trimmed AND Robbie was able to trim the fur between his pads which our prior groomer was never able to do. Bentley seemed very comfortable there and now I have absolutely no reservation about bringing him back. Next appt is already in the book and we are very happy with our experience at The Dog House! We have been to quite a few groomers in the state, and The Dog House might be the best. Happily enough, they are also the least expensive, and they are walking distance from our new home! This is a no-nonsense little hole-in-the wall place on Warren Ave. It was my first time taking our golden retriever Abby there, and one of the groomers took plenty of time to discuss exactly how I wanted her groomed, and they followed our request to a T! I think the real stand-out with this place is the drying process that they use. My understanding is that they dry the dog completely and THEN brush her out, which gives her a much cleaner, smoother look AND gets rid of more stray hair. We've sent her to more expensive groomers before and had her come back looking like she just got out of a tornado - but she came back from the Dog House after just a couple of hours looking as smooth and clean as we've ever seen her! So happy to have such a good local groomer in EP. Since it's so affordable, we actually plan on sending our dog to the groomers a little bit more frequently, so she will be happy too! read more

I have two black labs that are like children to me. I usually have them groomed at the large pet stores and they come back clean but never had a great experience there. I am so thrilled with the amazing grooming that they received at The dog house! My 7 year old lab is so shiny and soft just like when she was a puppy! They came home happy and beautiful! Rob does such a fantastic job! My dog Bowie is such an anxious mess every time I bring him in but Rob works so well with him and gets him done in a timely fashion. Bowie always comes back looking and smelling amazing. And Rob has such reasonable prices!! I once had to bring Bowie to Petco for grooming because I forgot to schedule a much needed appointment with Rob and Petco didn't do half as well as Rob does and they charged 2x as much. The groomer claims to be "the best in the area" but surprisingly he does not know the basic grooming standards for some breeds, such as Irish Setters. Over the phone, he assured me he used a stripping knife, but what he actually uses is a shedding blade which is a totally different tool, not suitable for some type delicate coats. The limit was when asked how he planned to groom the dog's head with that tool, and he explained that he uses a electric clippers to shave it! Besides the neck, clippers are NEVER used on these dogs. Although I am not a groomer, I own a show dog and I know the grooming standards by heart. On top of everything, the groomer seemed to get very upset and rude with my questions. As the dog owner I have every right to ask how the job is going to be done. Needles to say, we left the place, thankfully without damage to my dog. Advise: if you need professional grooming for your dog ask all the questions in advance. Otherwise your pet may look like an unrecognizable punk. read more

Very upset about bringing in my dog for a cut to help her with the hot weather and having her shaved (I specifically said not to). She's a nervous 11-year old dog on three legs and has never been with out her coat. I said I would be waiting outside and think it would have been a good idea to check with me before doing such an extreme groom. read more

When I dropped my pup off for his first grooming appointment I had a nice consultation conversation with the groomer. He repeated back to me what I had said to him and I was psyched that he knew exactly what I wanted: clean up his belly, trim nails, etc - give him a trim but keep the same look and keep him shaggy. When I came to pick him up I didn't recognize him! The groomer didn't give an explanation until I expressed my dissatisfaction. Only then did he apologize for the "miscommunication" and tell me that my dog wouldn't stay still so he shaved him (for the record I'm sure this was true, as my nervous pup had never had a grooming before). I told him I wished I had been called - if given a choice I would have chosen to bathe him myself instead of giving him a full shave (and right before the first snow!). To his credit he didn't charge me and let me know he wanted to make sure my dog had a chance to get used to being groomed. It's been two weeks and I'm still sad and missing my fuzzy puppy! read more

I can't say enough good things about this business. They are friendly and great with my pets. My dog is skittish, and they are so calm and good with her. Makes grooming easy for her. My cat has a tendency for his long coat to get very matted, and they shave him down a bit for me. He looks so beautiful and is always treated so kindly there. This was our fist visit and they were so sweet. My dog is a rescue and was really nervous about having her nails trimmed. She squirmed and cried at first (poor thing) but they just got her in a big bear hug and talked to her the whole time. Within the few minutes that her trim took, she was infinitely more relaxed and comfortable. You can tell that they care about the animals that they are working with. The other places I called wanted me to drop my dog off and they would get to him when they get to him. He doesn't like being in a crate so I hate the idea of leaving him for 3 or 4 hours. Just moved to the area and after taking my dog to the same groomer for 10 years I was a little leery about trying a new place but they had the best reviews in the area. I called to make the appointment and they were so kind, told me that for older dogs especially, they like to have them done within an hour and a half so they don't have to sit there all day and wait. Upon arriving, the groomer immediately started petting her and talking to her, great way to make her comfortable in a new environment. He told me that she would be done within an hour and a half and he would do it all, the nails, ears, shampoo, deshedding. When I picked her up, she looked fluffier than I have ever seen her. She had on an adorable owl bandana and she was happy as can be. They told me how great she was and what a pleasure she was to have. They even said that her facial expressions made them laugh. What a way to welcome me to a new place. I will be loyal to them from here on out because I do not think you will get this type of service from most groomers. read more

I have brought my toy poodle to Robbie twice. I have brought my dog to approximately 4 other groomers and no one has groomed him as well as The Dog House. He was combed / brushed all the way trough to the skin and all the delicate areas like the feet, ears, tail area, and mouth were all nicely groomed. Additionally, my dog isn't very fond of being groomed and can be pretty feisty, but he was handled skillfully and we came up with a plan to help him be calmer next time. I have a German shepherd and a medium sized mixed dog and bring them both to the dog house. The master groomer is always polite and takes very good care of them. Their coat comes out so soft and shiny with little to no shedding. My dogs have very sensitve skin and they never seem to have a poblem here. The price is always fair and the quality is consistent. I have brought them here multiple time I won't bring them anywhere else. I finally found a place that I can trust and no that my dogs are in good hands. read more
