We've used the Dog House twice for boarding during the summer. I was happy to find a place in town that would be an easy drop off with an outdoor play area. Reasonable prices, friendly staff the first time around. The second time I went to pick up our dog, she left with kennel cough. She was miserable and we needed to go to the vet.I called to let them know and they basically told me not to bring in a sick dog. Why would I knowingly board my dog with kennel cough? I repeated that I was calling to inform them that one of the other dogs had given it to her and to look into it. They treated it passively and unapologetic. We will not be going back. read more

I traveled to Wisconsin for vacation and needed a place to board my dog. She's always stayed with family when we traveled so I was a little nervous about boarding her in an unfamiliar place. The resort I was staying at recommended The Dog House and I'm so glad they did. All of the dogs at the doggy daycare looked super excited and happy to be there when I dropped my pup off. Staff were friendly and the grounds were clean and much nicer than my already high expectations. I liked that the dogs each had their own outdoor run. If I'm ever back near The Dells again, I'll definitely be boarding my dog here & will refer others as well. read more

Utilize at your own risk. Our previous boarding facility informed us that our dogs don't soil in their kennel and socalize well. Dog parks are the norm for us, without incident. We boarded our 4 dogs here for 2 nights. My Boxer in one kennel, and our other 3 small dogs are in another. There are 2 indoor play areas. In a kennel off to the side of the room is, according to the staff, a Pit Bull being given a "time-out" for misbehaving. Pits can be a wonderful breed provided they are trained, well-socialized and under control. It's not a good first impression to walk in and discover that my dogs are being boarded with a powerful breed that the staff is admitting has behavioral issues. The better solution would be to update your policy to not allow aggressive dogs/dogs with behavioral issues. Period. Giving a dog a "time-out" does NOT rectify behavioral issues. We called the following day for an update, and were told our Boxer was COWERING in the play areas, which is COMPLETELY out of character for him. Note that when we went to pick up our dogs, not one of our dogs were in with the daycare dogs - THEIR POLICY STATES THAT IF YOU BOARD YOUR DOGS WITH THEM, THEY WILL BE INCLUDED WITH THE REGULAR DAYCARE DOGS, and that's one of the reasons we chose this place. Yet, ALL of our dogs were kenneled when we arrived, when TWO other groups were out playing. They brag on their website about their sq footage. We asked why our Boxer wasn't in the play group. We were told he and the Pit "weren't getting along." The explanation..our Boxer was "given a break." ZERO explanation as to why our other 3 dogs were NOT included in the play group. Re: our Boxer and the Pit, we were told, "They didn't get along yesterday, so we separated them, and they were getting along early this morning but then this afternoon they weren't getting along again." They admitted to us they were aware this Pit was not getting along with our dog the day prior, but knowing this, they decided to put them together AGAIN the following day. What??? While finalizing our bill, I'm watching this Pit with the play group. Every time a dog in that group would do something as simple as get excited and jump up on the fence, that Pit would go over and nip at various dogs. It was obvious to us why our dog was miserable there. The 2nd play area consisted of another large breed dog with 2 small dogs. The staff told us THAT particular dog didn't like any dogs bigger than him, so they keep him with the two small dogs. Note, there are TWO dogs here with behavioral issues and you risk your dogs being kenneled because of other dogs with behavioral issues. I got my Boxer home, I notice a scrape wound on his mouth AND he was rubbing his back end on the floor at which point I notice dried excrement ALL OVER his backside that 10 mins of flowing water in the shower wouldn't remove, it was DRY AND CRUSTY which tells me it's been there for awhile. It had to be scrubbed thoroughly. He had a resulting rash on the underside of his tail likely due to dried excrement that the staff neglected to attend to. We've had our dog since 8 weeks old. He does NOT soil on himself. Likewise, our other dogs, kenneled separately, had evidence of excrement on their bedding. I called to ask whether my dogs had soiled their kennels (I was told no), and an awkward conversation ensued whereby one staff member was relaying my questions to another staff member in the background, and after answering a series of questions about my dogs, he eventually asks, 'what kind of dog was this?' How are they answering questions honestly for several minutes if they don't even know what dog I'm referring to? The paperwork we filled out upon arrival was more geared towards legal disclaimers than about each individual animal - the staff eluded to a situation they had in the past, hence the reason we had to sign pages of legal disclaimers. They lacked specific questions about allergies. I wasn't asked about medications until I was ready to walk out the door. THIS INFORMATION SHOULD BE ASKED SPECIFICALLY ON PAPERWORK AND DOCUMENTED IN WRITING AND FILED FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL DOG. If our dog is full of excrement, CLEAN IT. It's a health hazard. If we drop our dogs off with their harnesses and leashes on, we expect them to be returned to us in the lobby with their harnesses on and leashed...our dogs were brought back to the lobby unleashed and harnesses were handed to us by the staff, and only one door between us and the outside where other visitors were entering (one of my dogs is a rescue that WILL run). The outdoor fenced-in play area is NOT connected to the building. We saw a staff member pulling two dogs across the parking lot by their collars back to the facility. No leashes on these dogs whatsoever. Understaffed. Disorganized. Unsafe. Staff nice, but needs training. Business practices apparently inconsistent with their written policy. Our little Malshi was so happy when we picked her up! The facility was spotless clean, they had a large play area with dogs chilling in some pools, a large potty area and in close vicinity to the owners house. Drew? The young lady who answered my phone calls when i was checking on zoey and who took very close care of zoey during our long weekend in the dells was so sweet! This is our new go-to! Im 100% satisfied. And i have never seen all the dogs out in the open and happy in a dog boarding place like they all were here at the dog house! read more

So I sent this email this AM to get a very rude phone call back yelling at me from the manager Drew saying I don't know what i'm talking about.... I just want you guys to be aware that Bella came back with Kennel cough AGAIN after she visited this weekend. I understand how contagious it can be and now all my dogs have it. Never have I had this happened so frequently at a boarding facility (and I use to work at a animal hospital/boarding place). You guys really need to amp up how things are being cleaned. You also need to be checking when a dog is overdue for vaccines and stool samples because my sisters dog is overdue and never had a comment made. Upon pick up I saw a worker spraying the dog perfume that's in a can (I know it's that because again use to use it) throughout the whole place and that's not a way to get rid of bacteria nor is it safe for the animals to breath in all the time. Also since bringing up complaints Noah's toenail his Dewclaw that I specifically asked the groomer to cut because it was so long got infected because It was not cut like asked I didn't even think to check because I trusted the groomer. We have probably had to spend close to $500+ on vet bills and have spent close area to 2k in boarding and grooming exc. Luckily one of my dogs has not died but I don't want this to continue for the future of the other dogs at your business. Please look into this matter with your staff. We appreciate what you do and I know it's a super stressful job and hard but something gotta get done. On that note please remove our account because we can't afford our animals getting sick anymore with all these vet bills. read more

i took my pups to be groomed here and afterwards the lady I spoke to said that she meant to ask me if they could play with the other dogs????? Meant to??? I let that slide & returned for boarding... the pups were with other dogs for two days when I received phone call saying the oldest was a couple days past due on immunization. He had initial so has immunity... but they segregated the pups. This was the first time they were ever left overnight. When I picked them up the girls at the desk were on their phones.... Sorry but not sorry.... Last time my pups will be receiving services here. read more

Our two labs love the dog house. The staff are always attentive, quick to respond via email or phone as needed and we've never had any issues at all. I would recommend getting your pets bathed at the end of the stay since group playtime can be messy/dirty and not all dogs may be bathed as regularly as yours. The groomers always do an awesome job. I'm so glad we found this place. It was perfect for our weekend getaway at the Dells. We dropped off our dog for two nights and also had her groomed while she stayed. We had the pleasure of working with a knowledgable & sweet young lady who assured us that our puppy will be well taken care of and she sure was!
