I found this little gem by word-of-mouth! I'm not even sure if they're taking new dogs at this time... they are so good that they can't take too many dogs because they treat their customers very well! My dog is always well cared for and loves her time at the dog Lodge!!! They know every dog by name... The dogs get tons of playtime inside and out. The facility is clean and the people are nice. They even print out a report card of how your dog did during their stay. I do believe this place is for larger well mannered dogs only. ;-) read more

Looking for a place to bard our 2 dogs and found The Dog Lodge. I am so happy I did. They were there for a week at beginning of November and if the could speak, they would say it was the best place other than home. When we picked them up they came out to us and we're like "oh, you're here". Every other place we've boarded they were like "oh, mom, we missed you so much and thought you were never coming back". They are both Aussies and are older 11 1/2 and 14 1/2 years old, but still in good shape and active for their ages. It's scary boarding your pet, especially when they are older. I was so sad I had to board my puppy for almost a week but I am SO GLAD that I found this place!! I sent an email asking for an update the morning after dropping him off and was delightfully surprised that I got a response almost immediately from McKale. McKale went above and beyond to ease my worries by sending me videos of my boy, happily playing. Seeing him happy made me feel so much better! I was able to relax and enjoy my trip knowing my dog was having his own puppy vacation. He came home clean, with his nails trimmed (Awesome bonus!) exhausted from all the fun. The pups were very happy here for a 6 day visit. They came back newly washed and with their nails cut (nice surprise!). They were relaxed and happy so I know they had a good time. Honestly, the main inside room is way too crowded for me (other reviewers had mentioned this) - but as long as the pups are happy, that is all that counts! Last week I spoke with an employee who confirmed availability and told me I was booked for the dates I requested. She then told me to go online where I could upload my dog's vaccination records, which I did immediately. Today, when I called to check in bringing my dog in for a getting-to-know-you visit & make sure all of the records had been received, I was told there was no booking and no availability. This miscommunication has cost them my business. I was never told that the booking was not set & that I had to do it online - in fact, I provided info about my dog that wouldn't have been necessary if I had known I needed to go online for all of it. They may be a great place to care for your dog but their method of bringing in a new client leaves a lot of room for mistakes! read more

A tired pup is a well-behaved pup! There is no more tired pup than after a long day at the Dog Lodge. Plenty of other dogs to play with, all shapes and sizes. Great facility with plenty of room for your furry friend to play or unwind. The staff is extremely polite and great with the dogs. We've left our Ellie for both daycare and lodging visits, and she's loved every time. Her first visit she was a pup and still learning how to play other dogs so they kindly let us know she had a small mark on her ear. It is a smaller facility so if you know you have a specific date you need just book ASAP. Book ASAP anyways because this is by far the best doggie daycare around! read more

I reviewed The Dog Lodge a couple of months ago and was pretty pleased with the place, but I did express a couple of mild concerns. Not long after I submitted the review, I heard back from Christine, the owner, through Yelp. Christine wrote a very heartfelt and sincere reply and was able to address those concerns and offer perspective that I had not considered. As a result, I decided to take the pup back to The Dog Lodge during a vacation in early October. I'm really stoked about this whole experience for two reasons. First, I'm glad I gave these folks another chance because my dog had a great experience while we were gone. As usual, she played and played, came back clean and tired, and we actually took her in again for a quick overnighter last week. The second reason I'm excited about this whole deal is because of the business owner/customer interaction we had through Yelp. I expressed concerns, the business addressed the concerns, and we were able to work it out. Go Yelp! In regards to my original concerns about The Dog Lodge being full. They do cap their overnight guests at 20. It's when the overnight capacity is reached AND there are daytime doggies as well. The first few times we used the Dog Lodge were pre-summer. During the summer months it got busier than I personally felt comfortable with. The last two trips have been post-summer, so the numbers have once again dropped. I'm a big fan of The Dog Lodge. I do hope they can expand their facility to comfortably accommodate more dogs. I will continue to take my pup here in the offseason for great service from a dog loving, attentive, connected-to-their-customers staff! read more

The Dog Lodge is great, very friendly staff, clean facility, and helped me out tremendously by finding the room to watch my dog for several days, on very short notice, when another dog sitter fell through. I like that they provided a report card upon pickup that detailed my dog's behavior while I was away, along with how much he played with the other dogs. Overall, my dog was very happy and tired after several days of play time. They also gave my dog a bath prior to pickup which is a major plus when compared to the other boarding places I have used in the past. read more

I've been bringing my 15 year-old golden retriever to The Dog Lodge for over ten years. I bring him to daycare every weekday and also board him several times per year. Teddy ***loves*** going to The Dog Lodge, and I never worry for a moment when he's in their care. It's evident that the staff are crazy about dogs. They've always treated Teddy like one of their own. The group of dogs that were there when I went to check the facility out were happy, content, free to play or just hang out. I'm feeling quite confident that this is the highest quality care I'm going to find in this area for my dogs! Didn't end up using this facility as my small do was too small for their comfort. Thee best dog boarding and doggy daycare facility around! Look no further. My husband and I don't have children, so our dogs are our babies. Since my husband is a firefighter, he's away from the house for 48 hours at a time. On his first day back to work, he drops our pups off early in the morning around 7am. Then I pick them up on my way home from work sometimes as late as 7:30. They have excellent hours (and have even been accommodating with me if I'm running a couple minutes late). I love their hours on the weekends, too. Plus, they're conveniently located right off the 7200 South exit of I-15. Dog Lodge also participates in numerous local community events. I've seen their booth at Walk, Wag & Swim and several other dog-friendly events. Their care for the canine community is very apparent. What I find most important is that they know my dogs by name - and it's pretty clear that they love my dogs almost as much as I do. It's also fun to follow them on Instagram and Facebook for fun action shots of my dogs. I simply can't say enough good things about this place - except maybe one more thing: "thank you." read more

I have been using the dog lodge for over three years now. They have been amazing!!! Christine is an awesome owner!!! She is very hands on and concerned about the pets as well. My dog gets excited as soon as we turn down the street. The location is perfect for me and the employees are so awesome! They all know the dogs by name. I live in the Bay Area and when I bring my 90lb bernadoodle to SLC I only go to The Dog Lodge. They welcome her like she's family and the staff is fantastic. My boys and I watched all of the dogs through their window and they all looked happy, relaxed, content and at home. read more

I came in with my dog and her papers last December and they said they didn't have room for any new dogs, nothing on their website said that so that was the first waste of my time. They said call back close to spring that's when they start taking new dogs. I called in January and February and they said try back in March. I called in March and asked if they had room for a dog at day care and the woman on the phone said oh yeah definitely. When I clarified it would be a new dog she said oh no, try calling in the FALL. That's ridiculous, I've been calling every month after being told room would open up in the spring and now somehow they are booked through the spring and summer??? Even though you said you had room for a dog at daycare that day?? Waste of my time, really wish I could take her here because it's such a convenient location and seems like a nice facility but apparently you have to be in some inner circle to get a spot. read more

Residents of the greater Salt Lake City area have a wide variety of high-quality doggie daycare and boarding businesses from which to choose, and I've tried many of them with very good results. But I've decided that The Dog Lodge is the best place for my pups, and I'd like to share with you the reasons why. I'd been taking my flat-coat retriever to another business for years. But when I moved my office back home, The Dog Lodge was closer and they came highly recommended by my sister who takes her dogs there. After one visit, it was clear that he really enjoyed his time there. But it wasn't until I got his 2-year-old brother--a pit bull mix--that I could fully appreciate what The Dog Lodge has to offer. More about that in a moment, but for now, let me offer more observations about the business itself. 1. A smaller setting - The Dog Lodge is one of the smallest facilities in town, and that allows the employees to interact with the dogs more closely. And if a disciplinary intervention is required (an eventuality in every dog pack), the handlers can intercede more quickly. 2. Great staff and handlers - All of the employees are kind, knowledgeable, and courteous, not only to the dogs, but also to their humans. They always take the time to inform me of how my dogs do during their daycare and boarding visits. 3. Report cards for long-term boarding - My daughter and I always look forward to receiving a report card on our dogs after a multi-day boarding visit. It's great to read about their good behavior and the other dogs they befriend during their stay, but also to learn about any behavioral or health concerns that were observed by the staff. 4. Facebook posts - There's nothing better than being far from home and being able to watch your dog playing in the various pictures and videos The Dog Lodge posts daily on their Facebook page. You may not see your dog in every video, but you can see the other happy and playful dogs with whom your pet is spending time. 5. Cleanliness - At most other daycare facilities, my dogs come home with a slight film of...well...funk on their coats. But a The Dog Lodge, they usually come home with the same clean coats they left with, or only a tiny bit of funk. That means I don't feel compelled to have my dogs bathed before they come home from daycare. If I board them, I will have them bathed and The Dog Lodge does a great job. All of those advantages would be enough to keep us coming back. However, it wasn't until I recently got my second dog that I realized just how great The Dog Lodge is. I'd only had my 2-year-old pit bull mix for 2-months when I took him there for his temperament check. He did OK, but because he came from a high-kill shelter where dogs are forced to fend for themselves in a chaotic and unbalanced environment, he occasionally growls and fixates on other dogs. But Christine (the owner) assured me that they would work with him on those behavioral issues during his visits. Since I'm a committed dog owner who works on training my dogs diligently, it gives me great comfort to know that The Dog Lodge is willing to provide extra attention for my dog as he acclimates to his 'new normal': A loving permanent home with the occasional fun-filled visit with the good pack at The Dog Lodge. They also have great business hours and are open later than many other facilities. They offer discounted multi-visit passes and multi-dog boarding discounts, too. Granted, their prices are slightly higher than average. However, the extra attention they offer, along with the money you'll save not needing to have your dog bathed after every daycare visit, provides better value. Just be aware that they do get busy during the holidays, so be sure to make your boarding reservations ahead of time. So, if you're looking for a great value and a fun environment full of nice people and nice dogs with whom your dog can interact, look no further than The Dog Lodge. They truly go the extra mile for you and your dog(s). Woof! read more

I read the reveiws on the The Dog Lodge and was really excited to take my dog there for a few days - just for day care, but I was mildly disappointed. My only comparison is Petsmart, where we've taken my pup 3-5 times a year in the last 4 years. She loves it there, and goes nuts with excitement the second we walk in the door. Her reaction wasn't the same with the Dog Lodge. She seemed indifferent, and even a little timid. The lodge was definitely overrun and very crowded. The dogs were very barky and the staff didn't make any corrections with that (ie, they bark when anything moves/comes through the door, etc). I couldn't even hear the staff member to communicate about pricing, etc. My dog brought this bad habit home, which means they were barking A LOT at the daycare. There didn't seem to be any "play time" taking place; not once, on the several ocassions did I come in to find the dogs playing with one another, or the staff. They were always crowded near the door, barking at whoever just walked in. I never saw toys or anything to promote a playful environment. My dog came home with kennel cough/cold. I realize this can happen at any kennel, but we have never run into this issue when boarding at other facilities. The staff didn't seem genuinely interested in me or my dog. Even if they were, it would be hard to communicate that through the ear-numbing barking of all the dogs. I walked in and without any communication of how long she'd be there, any special needs, etc, they just took her and said "thanks, have a good day" and moved her to the back. That's it. The pricing is a little frustrating as well. $22 full day, but $15 for half (shouldn't it be closer to $10-12?) They offer hourly rates, but beware - hour 4 counts as a half day. I would take my dog here again, but only under dire circumstances, and I doubt I'd be willing to leave her overnight (it's unclear, but I don't think a staff member stays overnight). read more

We were in town from California for a high school graduation, and the Dog Lodge ended up being a Godsend for our 7 month old puppy. We stayed at the La Quinta about a quarter mile away, and being able to drop our dog off here while we attended family obligations was a wonderful option for us, as opposed to leaving our dog in his crate, alone in the hotel room for hours. It's air-conditioned, as well, so our high energy pup got to run around and play with other dogs during the heat of the day in June. I'm extremely grateful for the wonderful ladies at the Dog Lodge, as Koopa's time in Utah would have been pretty miserable without them! read more

I, and my two dogs, LOVE the Dog Lodge. The staff is friendly, knows the names of my dogs, and pay attention to each and every dog personality that comes through their door. My dogs leave tired after a day or doggie daycare, and I am guilt free because I didn't leave them alone all day. One day my dog had sustained an injury prior to coming to doggie daycare, they saw he had blood in his urine and called me immediately--proof the awesome staff care, pay attention, and are on top if it. The facility is kept clean, which I can't imagine how they do it with so many dogs! I also appreciate how they are selective with the dogs they let in--if there is a dog that is aggressive, they won't let it ruin the time for everyone else. The Dog Lodge is on top of making sure the dogs they take are current on vaccinations as well. I can't recommend them enough! read more

I have been using the Dog Lodge since about 2007. They are incredible. The employees are super kind and always excited to see my dogs and my dogs are always very excited to see them. I know that when dropping off for daycare or for a kennel stay that they will be loved and taken care of. The staff is always really amazing and they are able to help with any questions or concerns that I have had. I have tried other places in the past and they don't compare to the staff I have known most of them for years and they always make us feel so welcome. We have been taking our Golden Retreiver to The Dog Lodge for 9 years now. She is always so excited to get there, and play with the other dogs. I trust the staff to take great care of my daughter while we are away. The staff has always been very caring with her. I never worry about her for a minute while we are away, knowing she is in great hands. We are sold on the Dog Lodge, and would highly recommend it. We needed to ditch the pup somewhere safe and cool after the realization that the "quick" trip to Ikea was going to be an all day event. It was going to be his first day in daycare. The places I had seen in Denver were awesome with great playgrounds and water features. The girl on the phone told me that they had two doggy pools out back and some comfortable places for them to hang out. The pools were kiddie plastic pools out on the hot concrete. The comfy place to hang out was a nasty old couch. We decided to leave him b/c it was better then the hot car. He was returned with a bite on his nose, he had learned to get on a couch and we don't think he peed or pooped for lack of any grass or dirt. No need to reply that we are bad dog owners for leaving him there. We feel bad about it and will never do it at a place like that again. This place unfairly gives Doggy Daycare a bad smell. read more

This place is fabulous! I've been sending my dog here since about 2012 and she loves it! The employees take great care of her (even have nicknames for her) and are truly happy to see her when she arrives in the morning (which always has me leaving with a smile). Their hours are some of the best I've seen and the location right off the freeway is super convenient. I think their day care prices are fair, they are upfront about posting important notices, and although I'm sure I have had a few of negative experiences over the years I cannot recall a single one. My dog loves it here! They let the dogs just hang out instead of like other boarding place which kennel the dog a lot. He always lost his voice at other boarding places but never here. We just picked our dogs up from the Dog Lodge for the first time and they had a blast! They stayed here for 5 days and since they were there so long they both got complimentary grooming which is such a nice touch! The staff makes it so personal there and gets to know your dogs.. I have taken two different dogs to Dog Lodge both dogs came home happy and clean even on day care days. Their staff is thorough when getting vaccination records and directive regarding who can pick up the dog. If I forget my leash I don't worry about it, it is always there when I pick up the boys. I call regularly when I am out of town and the staff is always informed and pleasant. The cost is worth every penny! read more

I am very surprised to see these bad reviews. Ill be completely honest with you. I work at The Dog Lodge and have been a proud worker for a few years. I love it there and I love the dogs that come in. But I showed some of these reviews to the Owner of The Dog Lodge and she was very very disappointed. She Loves the dogs here at the dog lodge and would of liked to talk to some of the people who had questions or bad experiences so that she could solve them directly. But as long as I have been working here it's been amazing experience, because of the Owner and staffs love for dogs, we treat them like are own. And that's how it should be. read more
