I just wrapped up a 6-week training program with Dogtown's head trainer, Makenzie and had such an amazing experience. I have a timid, sometimes reactive and aggressive dog, who needed a lot of help with training. After an hour consultation with Makenzie, we decided to do three day & train sessions where my dog would go to their facility for a half day of training one on one with Makenzie, three at home 1:1 sessions in my dog's natural environment, and three hour long group classes. The amount that I learned in these 6 weeks was absolutely mind blowing. Training your dog is about practice and consistency, and speaking your dog's language, and Dogtown gave me the confidence and the knowledge to be able to train my dog on my own. The day & train opportunities were a wonderful way to start. Makenzie would train my dog 1:1 and then would send me videos about everything they worked on during their sessions. When I came to pick her up, Makenzie would show me what they worked on and how I could practice it at home. The training sessions in my own home were incredibly helpful as well. It gave me time to practice with my dog(s) in their natural environment and refreshers on what we had already learned, and building upon the skills she was learning. The group sessions were amazing for my dog, and any dog, to have an opportunity to practice in a new, overstimulating environment with other dogs that she doesn't know. Since she is apprehensive around other dogs, this was amazing practice for her. On top of everything else, the team is so friendly and kind, and the trainers are so knowledgable. Brandie is the absolute BEST groomer. She goes above and beyond taking care of my Chinese Crested Powder Puff. She is so patient and gentle with my nervous little guy, and he is always so happy once he comes back from seeing Brandie. And the quality of her work is wonderful . I swear that this place is why he is so nice and playful with other pups. He LOVES it here. Whenever I pick him up he literally looks back out the window as we drive away. Please consider taking your dog, especially if they are a large/dominant breed somewhere else because they are clearly unwelcome here and if you speak up about it, be prepared to be completely berated by a manager who takes no accountability in her own incompetence. read more

I'll start with the good - I feel safe leaving my dogs here. They love going to DogTown daycare, and the price is affordable. I am comfortable with the caretaking practices of the staff, and have complete confidence in their ability to properly watch the dogs and keep them safe. They also usually take a daily picture with a little note of how the dog did that day, which has been very enjoyable. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the manager, Makenzie. Almost every interaction I've had with her, I've felt like she treated me rudely and that my business was unimportant to her. My wife and a couple of friends I've referred to DogTown have told me about some very similar experiences they've had with her as well. I'll keep bringing my dogs to this location out of convenience for now and hope my negative experiences are improved since they do love coming here and have lots of friends. I don't need special treatment or even to feel valued as a customer, but I would like some basic common courtesy. If I start seeing this I will revise this review. read more

This review is for Sandy location. Administrative. Phones never work so unable to call in when I need to. Would not let me see boarding area AT ANY TIME. No cameras on dogs, only front desk. My baby always smells like pee after one day of daycare. Last and final straw - they incorrectly told me this morning that my dog needs Lepto shot - WRONG, all vaccinations are up to date. Also, their internet site is NOT secure!! I will be pulling my card on file and changing to another facility. read more

This place is great! All the staff are so friendly and genuine, so I feel comfortable taking our pup here. Our dog comes home tired but not to the point where we are worried he didn't get any rest. As a previous review states there are so many good things about the staff here. They are friendly and amazing. However I completely agree with him when it comes to McKenzie. Being a manager you need professionalism and to be able to speak without being completely rude! As an owner of a business and a current manager myself if one of my employees acted the way she did with me today she would not be working for me. There are ways to get your point across without insulting and yelling in the background about the person on the phone. We have been so happy with Dogtown for our Gracie! She is so happy to go to doggie day care. They take a picture of her and give her a report card. It's awesome! The best part is that we had one of their trainer's, Nellie come and train her at our home. Gracie is a very happy, big, strong and energetic dog that was jumping up on everyone that came to the door. In just 3 sessions with Nellie, not only did she stop jumping on people, but she now is a pleasure to walk. She no longer takes us on a walk, we walk her! She will also now sits for a long period of time until we release her! Yeah! Thank you Nellie! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I would have liked to see the dogs have a bigger, grassier place to run around in. Still, Gracie does love it there! read more

Please never take your pets to this place for grooming, who knows what they do to your animals while boarding them. This is my puppy, all cut up, razor burned and tortured at her grooming appointment a couple of months ago. She wouldn't eat for days because she was so nervous and scared from her experience here. I had to hand feed her. Her nails were cut too short that they shattered and she bled everywhere and her cuts took weeks to heal. Please save your animals from such a traumatic experience. read more

My experience with Nellie has been very positive. Our 6-year old dog has learned how to walk at my side without tugging and without losing his composure when another dog walks by. I brought my dog to get groomed. She's a husky so she had quite a bit of her coat that needed to come out. I paid EXTRA for the "de shed" and she looks worse than when I brought her. I'm shocked they actually brought her to me and acted like she looked good or that the groomer thought she looked acceptable enough to say she was done. When we brought it up to the front desk she basically said no one was there that could do anything. So unacceptable, I paid $85 for my dog to look the exact same with tons of hair everywhere still. I appreciate the other reviews that have been posted and after going to DogTown for the last 8 years, today was the last time I will use their services. While booking the most recent boarding stay of 9 nights (this would normally be $288). A system error calculated the cost to be $224 (normally be 7 nights at $32 a night). I used an existing credit and an additional payment to pre-pay the $224. When I picked up my dog the invoice was updated to $288, this was $62 more than what I had originally been quoted. I understand that the charge should have been for 9 days, but when DogTown was not willing to honor the original amount, it was ultimately disappointing. read more

I have taken my dog here a few times for grooming, and have loved the outcome and the service. Recently it doesnt seem like they care much for their customers or employees. The amazing groomer they had on staff who cared so much for the dogs was fired, along with 2-3 employees in the past few months. I have seen and heard some of the conversations with the main boss and am extremely disappointed to see and hear how she has treated the employees. Not only that, but I called to cancel my appointment coming up this week for my dog and the manager didn't seem to care. Didn't ask why or if they could help me reschedule. Just said ok and hung up. Guess I'll be taking my business elsewhere and warning friends and family NOT to go here. read more

My puppy went through puppy training & has been going to daycare at DogTown on a regular basis since. I LOVE DOGTOWN and so does my pup !!!! He comes home hungry, tired but most of all HAPPY ! I wasn't impressed with these guys. My Jordan loved it at first but then whenever I took her back I had to tell them who she was and we went there often, they never remembered her! Every time I would go to pick her up she'd be waiting at the gate behind the desk just waiting to get out. We moved to Utah about 6 weeks ago and took our 3 yr old Golden to several day cares, none of which were clean nor felt right. After checking out Dogtown Pet Spa for the first time and only after a few hours, our Golden came home and slept for hours, she had so much fun! At other day cares, she would walk out at the end of her play day but here, she runs out! I swear I see a smile too! The team at the Sandy location takes very good care of her not to mention the place is clean so she does not come home stinky! This place is incredible. They ALWAYS take care of your dog with the utmost thought and care. I take my dog here for daycare, boarding and training and my pup loves it! The staff and the owners always take the time to answer my 10000 questions. My money and my pup will always go to Dog Town. They have a limit on how many dogs they take for day care because they don't want it to be over crowded for the pups to run free (amazing). Take one look at the owners training resume and youll never second guess them for a minute! And after training, they will never turn you away for needing some additional training advice. AMAZING! Can't say enough good things about this wonderful establishment. We have been taking our 2 year old Weimaraner (with LOTS of energy) here for about a year, and are beyond pleased with DogTown. We tried another daycare previously and Lily grew to dread her visits, but not so with DogTown. It's a good thing her tail is docked because I think it might fly off when she shows up here because it wags a million miles per hour. She LOVES it here and the people there love her. They are so good to her! They always remember her and us when we come in. When we have had to drop Lily off, whether for daycare or boarding, it's such a relief to know she will be cared for like family and we don't have to worry one bit. I had a good experience with Dog Town. My 9 month old Blue Heeler mix, Wagner is so full of energy that I've never tired him out. He has been to other dog day care...but he's never worn out. Today was an 18" powder day at Alta. Its what I live for. I dropped Wagner off at 7 15 am. I was dead tired when I picked him up...luckily so was he. He's sleeping like a log right now. John & Theresa are great! My wife and I own a 1 and half old German Shepherd, Coco, we initially had an issue with him not getting along with other dogs. He seemed aggressive towards others at times. After doing research and reading articles on GS, we decided it was time to get professional help for Coco. We decided to go with Dog Town for the reason that they were affiliates with Sit Means Sit, which is a great training program. John McCain comes out to our house any time we need extra help with Coco. We try and make it to as many group classes that DT offers throughout the month. These group classes are really helpful for Coco, but sometimes we just can't make them. I now use DT for all of Coco's needs, this includes baths, boarding, daycare and Training; it is an overall great place! I couldn't be happier! read more

LOVE! love...love love love....love....did I mention "love"? I just moved from the Bay Area in California...therefore stressing about everything and every little detail is programmed into me. California does that to people. I started trading emails with Jon months before we moved...he assured me everything would be "ok". We came to town to get the keys for our new house and went and looked at the facility...the staff were SO nice. Showed us around...again...they assured us everything would be "ok" lol I called last week to schedule an 'evaluation' for my 2 maltese, and the guy on the phone said "just bring them in whenever it suits you" - really?? This is too good to be true. We took them in a few days later, which was convenient as we got them out of the way for when the moving truck was coming to deliver our furniture - and I was SO anxious - they'd been through a 800 mile move, and had been going to the same doggy daycare since they were 16 weeks old. How would they handle the change?? I go in the door...they instantly run to the door to the play yard. They're looking at me like "feel free to leave us here" - and the lovely guy at the front desk takes them away - off they go, not a care in the world. When I picked them up that evening they had the biggest puppy grins - and passed out in the car. Totally puppy wasted - they had the BEST time and I could tell they had been playing hard, as they were wiped out. On top of this - the entire day they went for an eval was FREE!! Sweet free puppy goodness! We're SO glad we've found another home-away-from-home for our girls. The staff have been brilliant, kindly putting up with my OCD-ness and helping me get one big part of our new life sorted out :) read more

We came into SLC from out of town somewhat last minute. A friend highly recommended DogTown to us. I sent an email to them and they called back right away. The owner was super friendly and understanding of our situation, and they went out of their way to make sure that we understood they'd help in any way they could because of our situation. I wound up dropping off my dog as well as my friend's dog and they recognized her even though she wasn't with her owner. They knew/remembered the "usual" routine of our friend's dog and made sure to get all of our dog's info/likes/dislikes/etc. We boarded the dogs and when we went to pick them up the next day, they were both happy and exhausted! There was a person in the outdoor play area with the dogs when we dropped them off and picked them up. Contrary to other places we've been, where they just stand around, at Dog Town they were actively involved in playing and interacting with the dogs. They gave us a run down of how the dogs behaved, ate, slept, etc. I really felt like they paid attention to each dog individually. If I'm ever back in SLC and need to board my dog, it will be at DogTown. read more

DogTown is the best daycare in the Greater Salt Lake City area. They are passionate about dogs and take really great care of your pup while you're away. My dog loved coming to DogTown. Based on reviews, I boarded my dog (and cat) for two days while we vacationed in St. George. The evening after picking up my dog, she started getting sick - lethargic, high fever, diarrhea, and vomiting. I took her to my vet the next morning and she was dehydrated with a high fever and was hospitalized with a $900+ vet bill. My dog had picked up a bacteria which they assumed came from standing water. My initial call to Dogtown after my dog was hospitalized was to try and find out if there had been other dogs that had been sick. During the call and a later call, the person I spoke to was only concerned about placing blame on me and stating my dog probably has underlying health issues (which isn't the case). I am glad many have good experiences but so you are aware, if your dog gets sick during their stay, Dogtown isn't empathetic. Their stance isn't asking how your pet is but rather making sure they aren't liable and placing fault elsewhere. read more
