Been going here since 2018 with my mom to Josie. They always bump your appointments without asking if it's ok also squeeze other people in during your appointment and forget you are sitting there. They also gossip about everyone when they leave. Super unprofessional since Renee sold it to the new owner it has gone down hill ever since. I got my hair done by Josie and it looks awful and she wouldn't even refund me or fix my hair for petty reasons even offered to pay more. Now I have to go spend money elsewhere to fix this. She said she was trying to save me money and I never asked to also was condescending about money the whole conversation. Made sure to keep all my money and my tip. Nice people. The hair they did doesn't even blend my extensions.. read more

Josie is one of the best I have ever met. I've been seeing her for a while now, and she's taken me through numerous colors, and recently has installed my extensions flawlessly which I was so nervous about, and custom colored them for me. I was skeptical to get extensions because I heard nightmare stories about them, but Josie was amazing, and reassured me that they would be alright for my hair, and wouldn't damage my scalp. I've had them for 6 weeks now, and am obsessed with them. Her and I have grown into more than just your typical customer, and hairdresser bond. Something about Josie is so special, and she has a great way about her. I love Jos, and trust her with anything crazy she wants to experiment in my hair. I am legitimately OBSESSED with The Dollhouse. Every single person in the salon has the most incredible, welcoming, and FUN personality! I have followed Renee for YEARS and have been dreaming/dying for the opportunity to have her do my hair. I saved up for a year for extensions and finally went to book my spot. Shockingly(insert sarcasm here), Renee was not accepting new clients. Heartbreakingly and begrudgingly, I accepted a consultation with Josie.... and OMG! Was I blessed! She is such a doll! I absolutely love the entire time I get to spend in her chair. She is one of the funniest people I've ever met and she's even turned into my friend. I always look forward to my appts with her! If you want to be able to walk into a salon, have any stylist, and confidently tell them to chop your hair off and dye it blue, this is the place for you. No matter what I throw at Renee I know she will always make me look like a supermodel. The same goes for some of the amazing work I've witnessed from her other stylists as well. There are some ridiculously creative and talented stylists that work at this place and the salon itself is beautiful and a fun environment. 10/10 read more

While I was having my hair done the stylists were bad mouthing clients who just walked out! No lie, the client wasn't even out of the salon for 30 seconds and they were saying how much they couldn't stand her and saying her hair is a night mare. I have light brown hair (shoulder length) and just got a balayage- no cut. I was there for about 2.5 hours start to finish and with tip I paid $340. Yes you heard me right, $340! I was never once offered a water or coffee the whole time I was there. My hair looks the same as it did when I went to my old salon and only paid $100. If you want to charge NY prices at least offer some better and more professional service read more

I had a reservation with Jos for a consultation. Once I drove all the way there on a rainy day, and was left to wait for 5-10 minutes. Jos told me that a 15 minutes long appointment was not long enough to discuss my options, and that I should come in for a haircut and we could talk about it then (we only spoke for 3 minutes and the consultation was supposed to be 15 minutes). What it sounded like to me is "Unless I'm making some type of money off of you I will not be wasting my time" Which is fair but a. why offer consultation appointments free of charge and have the customer travel all the way to you if you do not believe they are productive? b. I was willing to go ahead and schedule the haircut appointment, but they wouldn't do it unless I put in a 50 dollars cash deposit, which I've done before for longer balayage appointments since the stylist blocks out most of their day for you, but for a haircut that costs 60, why am I paying for most of it in advance? I didn't have the cash, and I did not want to use their ATM which means I have to travel there again just to make the appointment. I never went back. I ended up getting my hair done at Oomph Salon in Portsmouth, I highly recommend read more

To be honest, I've been seeing Anthony for over a year now and he has been nothing but accommodating to my needs for when I can come in and what I want to do with my hair. I work a crazy hectic schedule and he has come in MULTIPLE times on his days off just to do my hair because it's the only day that works for me. My hair was completely ruined from a previous salon experience and within a year Anthony has completely transformed it into everything I have always wanted. To complain about someone wanting to reschedule because of a FAMILY EMERGENCY, who said he could come in whenever you have the next time available even on a day off is truly sad. I had a consultation with Anthony then was scheduled for an appointment two months later. The day of my appointment, he texted me at 1 am saying he had a family emergency and said he wouldn't be able to make it into work and asked if I could reschedule for a week later at noon. Ok, fine, so I took a half day off from work to get my hair done. The day of this appointment, he texts me again saying he had another family emergency and wouldn't be in work the next couple of days without any option to reschedule. A few hours go by and I see that he posted an Instagram story of doing another client's hair. I texted him and the salon the next day asking to reschedule and got no response. I understand you may be busy but it's not a good look when you lie to your new clients. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I heard about this salon from friends and to be quite honest I was not impressed. I paid an arm and a leg only for my hair to look the same. The thing with this salon, it's run by young kids and they don't know anything about customer service. They talk so much crap about their own customers, people going by, and just everyone in general. The thing that they haven't learned is you can't do that when you run a business. I definitely wouldn't recommend this salon. read more

My experience at The Dollhouse was wonderful, to say the very least. Having heard nothing but AMAZING things about Renee (the owner) and The Dollhouse, I decided to give it a try. For years I've gotten the same two inch trim every four months, nothing exciting. I've never dyed my hair and never trusted anyone to do it - I decided to finally step out of my comfort zone and go for a balayage, and I could not be happier with the result. Renee is a masterful stylist, and I get compliments all the time now telling me not only how good my hair looks but how well done it is, which speaks to Renee's technique. I travelled from Rhode Island to get my hair done here and plan on doing it again when I need a touch up. The salon itself is warm and inviting, and the stylists are friendly and helpful. I was offered water, tea, and even food several times while I was there, which just goes to show how above and beyond the service here is.
