The best haircuts for your price point, if you dont know Spanish you will pick it up haha try it out the vibe and the atmosphere is excellent, come and enjoy the Spanish food next door this place is great from the haircut to the vibes, come and get right at the Dominican Barbershop.

Don't come to this place they have never paid attention to the haircut I have asked them for while I reminded them many times

Best damn barber anywhere in Raleigh. El Truco is not only my barber but my friend. Been coming here for the last couple years and he not only knows who I am, but always asks about my family. Before Truco, my hair was sad and my wife was never very impressed. But after Truco, my hair is fresh as hell with a fine ass fade and my wife absolutely loves it every time I walk in after a fresh cut. Can't recommend Truco enough.

I had an appointment booked in advance for my child with Luis "el Viviente" and I was told that he left a few minutes before our appointment. He didn't leave an explanation with anyone to let us know why he left, or if he was coming back soon. We waited at least 20 minutes for him to return. He didn't, so we left. He doesn't take his job seriously and therefore, doesn't care about his clients. That was a highly unprofessional move and says a lot about his character...or lack thereof. Since I'm rating the Barber himself, I'll go ahead & rate the atmosphere while I'm at it. The environment in this barber shop is very low class. The seating is damaged and limited. It's also very uncomfortable and looks like it will fall apart when you sit down. Most of the Barbers are Very loud, Obnoxious, and Immature. When operating a business that is client-based, you should possess basic manners and some sort of professional etiquette. It's very unethical to make your clients and their children feel uncomfortable while they are waiting to pay you for a service. I spent 8 years in the Army and traveled, and during those years I became fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. I may not look like I'm part of the culture, but understood every word they have said! Locker room talk in a barber shop among children and other customers is what makes them low class. I've sent them so much business, but now I will be persuading my family and friends to frequent a better barber shop. You couldn't pay me to visit this barber shop ever again!

We just moved to North Carolina from Miami and were in search of a barber shop with great reviews. We also wanted to support local Latino businesses, so coming to the Dominicans Barber Shop made sense. I made an online appointment for my son to see Joseph (El Truco). When we arrived we were advised that he went on vacation yesterday. My 7-year old was in desperate need of a haircut, so we decided to let one of the available barbers cut his hair. We ended up with Miguel (DJ Heavy), and we were very pleased. He listened to what I wanted and did a great job. He took his time and took great pride in his work. We live 30 minutes away, but it was worth the drive. We will definitely be back. My only suggestion would be to clean up the shop. It was a bit messy and dirty. I seriously wanted to grab the broom and sweep up all the hair all over the place.

I can not explain how devastated I am. I've been to two other barber shops for a simple under cut fade and never had they cut my single loc. I had this loc the 3 years and watch it grow mid back. All the barber said was "oh shit, my bad". Idk what to do at this point. Crying cause having something for years knowing I can't save it and having to cut it off and start over again.

Jimmy, at Five Points Barber Shop, is one of them. He's been cutting hair for over 30 years, and he has been cutting my hair for about four. If you don't live in Five Points or in downtown Raleigh, you probably want to try to find a barber closer to you due to limited hours. Jimmy works half the day from 7:30-11:30am Monday-Saturday. Walk-ins only. If you get to the shop within those hours, he'll get to you. You should call ahead to make sure he isn't on vacation or to check the current wait. In general, I would avoid 10:30am on a Saturday morning. 7:30-8am in the middle of the week is usually pretty safe. Make sure to bring some cash. Normal haircuts are $12 and Jimmy appreciates tips so he can afford new fishing or skydiving gear. You can get cash at many places in Five Points, including the gas stations and Wells Fargo. Remember to learn how to talk to your barber. Don't just say "a little bit off the top". Memorize your clipper guards or how many inches you want off the top and sides. If you aren't sure what you want, make sure to tell Jimmy that and he'll work with you by cutting a little bit off at a time.

I decided last minute to get a fresh cut for Easter weekend (1am Saturday morning lol ) I was able to book an appointment for 930am right online. I booked my appointment with Jorge. Straight up... Jorge is a master at his craft. Wow. He did exactly what I wanted and more (mid/high fade, scissor trim up top). He took his time. Explained how and what he was doing and why. My hair came out perfect. He explained how to tame my cowlick in the back of my head. He cut the back to minimize the chance of bumps. The exfoliating wash was great I was about to fall asleep. He even showed me some tips on how to betters style my hair. lol. When I tell you I was ready to make my next app before he finished... I ain't exaggerating. Cannot recommend Jorge and FadePros enough. Probably one of my best barber experiences ever. Cannot recommend them enough.

I noticed they had a female barber, Natalie, and felt like I could relate, so I booked with her. Natalie took the time to understand my hair type and exactly what I wanted with my cut and fade. We also had a great conversation during the appointment, which made the experience even better. I went to her about two or three times and was always happy with the results. Unfortunately, my last appointment was a frustrating experience. The day of my appointment, it was suddenly changed to another barber and then moved from my original 10:30 AM time to 5:30 PM without any notice. When I called the shop, I was told that I had called to reschedule, which was not true. I asked to be placed back in my original slot since the double booking was not my fault. When I arrived, Natalie was not there and her station was empty. No one explained what happened or answered my questions about whether she still worked there. The haircut I received also did not come out the way I asked. Because of the lack of communication, I will not be returning. After a long search, I was able to find Natalie again in downtown Raleigh. I will gladly drive 20 minutes to see her rather than the 7-minute trip to Fadepro. She was the one who made the experience great in the first place. Thanks to google! Found her IG: @caro_cutz
