This is the perfect spot for a quick, delicious and cheap bite! I got their signature cinnamon sugar donuts, and they were very yummy! Even hours later they were still soft and flavorful. I also opted for their donut shop sandwich with turkey, which was SO good and filling for only $8. Their bread was soft, tasted fresh and the turkey was good quality. We love camping in the ADK and like to grab breakfast out every once in a while. The Good: This place had the best cinnamon fry cakes. Their fry cakes in general are top notch. My wife is a tea drinker and this place ticks the box for that too. The prices are reasonable, I'm not sure, but I think cash is the only form of payment accepted. The Bad: it's kind of annoying that cash is the only form of payment, but lots of small businesses are headed that direction and I get it. These donuts are by far the best donuts in exitance. The place is simple and does have a few menu items, but they don't need to. These are old fashioned fry cakes and come as plain or coated in sugar. Don't buy one or you'll be disappointed, but don't buy a dozen for yourself your you'll be looking at the empty bag wondering how you could have possibly eaten them all. What a fun little unexpected roadside place, distinctively located near a large donut hanging from a sign on the main road. This is a great place to stop by on the way to lots of other places that you can go hiking or shopping here in the Fulton chain of lakes region. What did we have? A surprisingly delicious sub that we split. Uniquely made on He toasted sub roll with turkey coleslaw pickles and melted mozzarella on top. You get a free donut with every sub so of course we had a donut too. The sub was absolutely delicious. And it was sufficient for two of us to split one. Salty pickles, melty cheese, creamy coleslaw, and fresh deli turkey thin sliced--a feast on a sub roll! You can always opt for another meat choice on your sub but I'm a turkey gal. The donuts were also delicious and very unlike the ones at large processed donut chains. Had a wonderful density to it, a thick crispy crust, and since we chose the cinnamon sugar donuts, an ample coating of crunchy cinnamon sugar crystals. This was a wonderful surprising little roadside stop on our travels through the area. Highly recommended. There is no inside seating but we sat on a large flat warm rock that lined the parking lot. 2.5 stars... A classic local Adirondack treat nestled in quiet and desolate Eagle Bay. I was very surprised but can fully respect the fact that they only make two varieties of donuts here, plain and cinnamon and sugar (not the classic donut type of powdered cinnamon and sugar but actual cinnamon and sugar like you'd get with fried dough at a carnival or something). They were a pretty oily and didn't have much taste but were very fresh and inexpensive and are worth checking out for yourself if you're ever driving by in the morning. Why two stars??? Well, a few years ago this would have been five stars, but they apparently changed owners... And the process must have changed a bit because they are saturated in oil now. My husband and I spent a week on Seventh Lake in Inlet, NY in a wonderful rented vacation house. My husband loves donuts and when we saw the Donut Shop of course we had to stop. OMG ..the donuts are unbelievable. The cinnamon sugar ones are fantastic. We are from Long Island and both work in New York City so have access to thousands of bakeries and he has literally tried thousands of donuts. He was so happy when he found this place. Homemade taste! We also tried their sandwiches when we went on hikes and they were fantastic as well. As we left to go home, we stopped for a last time and got half a dozen donuts plus tried their egg, bacon, and cheese on a bagel breakfast sandwich. It was fantastic!! The downside to it all is even though I was hiking and being very active, I actually put on a couple of pounds from those fantastic, cakey, light, delicious donuts. The Donut Shop was traditional stop for my dad and I 15 years ago as we hiked the high peaks and various other local trails in this part of the Adirondack region so my review may be a bit biased. At that time I believe they served coffee, two kinds of donuts and hot cider. This was always a nice treat on the way down from a long weekend of hiking. The donuts are a tad oily (check out the bottom of the bag after being in there a few minutes, let alone a day or so). We've routinely called them "belly bombs". This past weekend I stopped here on my way to hike Blue Mountain with some family. The anticipation for a "belly bomb" was with me all week. The parking lot was packed and the traditional smell of fresh donuts was in the air. As I got to the window I realized the place had transformed into more then a coffee/donut shop. In addition to donuts and coffee it now served soda, juices and sandwiches (cold and hot) and no hot cider, which was a sign the business was adding more options to bring in a broader range of crowd. The donut taste was the same as I remembered from years ago, and the bag had oily stains with minutes of being in the car. Plenty of sugar on the donuts. As another review mentioned, the person serving us was a bit coarse in their interaction. I agree that six donuts for $4.50 and a dozen for $7.75 is a bit pricey but if I wanted something cheaper I would have stopped at a chain store on the way up north. If your expectation is a chain business product in the middle of the Adirondacks this may not be the stop for you. read more
