We were a party of 8. We were seated promptly. The service was fantastic. Our waiter was funny and helpful. The menu was great. I had a New Orleans style shrimp and pasta, which I loved. I'm from New Orleans, so that's high praise. We had a great time. Word is, this is the last season for this restaurant. I hope they change their minds. 7th lake needs a restaurant of this caliber. Old fashioned charm. Appetizers thoughtfully crafted. Favorite was the smoked trout and the brussel sprouts. 5 stars for service with our large group. 5 stars for menu - superb salmon special entree (huge cut) and the shrimp gnocchi dish (big shrimp and pancetta throughout, lots of veggies, and flavorful cream sauce). What a find.... we have been going to the Adirondacks for years and always passed by. Well we have been missing some of the best food in the area. The service was great and the setting on the porch was equally as good. Our group had the smoked trout (a must have), salmon and lamb wellington and they were all fantastic! A beautiful old fashion fireplace makes it so cozy and especially stop during the Christmas season and enjoy the tree and beautiful decorations that makes the place a gem in the Woods! What a fantastic place, old school bar with great food. Three of us had drinks & dinner there last night. The Bar can use some attention but with the current help issues, it's understandable. App's Devil eggs with avocado infusion were outstanding as well as roasted brussel sprouts. Beef Short Ribs were to die for. cauliflower steak was also very tasty and great to see on the menu! Desserts were a great ending to the meal. The service was outstanding, Katelyn was no doubt one the BEST servers I have ever had!!!! Next time there I would love to try the SEABASS !!!! read more

We decided to try this restaurant for the first time as we have tried out most in the area and we're looking for something different. We were very pleasantly surprised buy the choice of food and how delicious everything was. Definitely a place you'd want to check out. It's outside of Inlet going east on 28th. The building is quite dated and you could almost pass it thinking it wasn't anything it's old looking. But that's the beauty of the Adirondacks and the charm. I really don't think you would be disappointed having dinner here it is small. But the fish fry was unbelievable on Friday night. Considering "Fine Dining" is a sub-header on their sign outside, you'd expect a high quality experience. I had the $28 lamb special. Lamb itself was cooked well, and seasoned perfectly! Sides (mashed potato, vegetables, and red cabbage) left a lot to be desired on texture, taste, and temperature. Decor/Interior was outdated, old, and rickety (not in that "pretty rustic" way.) Have been coming here every summer for as long as I can remember and yes the food is over priced, but for the area, there are not too many nice places to go out so this would have to still remain on the list as one of them. When you get dressed up for your "fine dining" evening at the 7th Lake House......you expect a the very least a greeting from bartender at front door, good service, good food and a "Thank You have a nice evening!" when you leave..........We received NONE of the above last night ! We sat on porch in white plastic chairs next to 2 tables of small children and had a waiter that spoke limited English and was hard to understand.......We found him at bar on his phone when we wanted to order a 2nd glass of wine....... Food OK......not sure why they wanted to add sausage to seafood....but rack of lamb was good......Couldn't find waiter again to clear plates and get check......place not even busy...... Disappointed. This was our third visit. Our reservation was for 5, Yet the table had 6 settings and only 4 chairs. The wait for our drink order to be taken was fairly quick but the wait for the drinks was very long. We had to ask for rolls and when they came they were not even warm and the butter was too hard to spread. The food was very good and prepared well, I.e. steaks were rare and medium rare. The apple salad had big chunks of apple and feta. Would have been better to have them diced smaller. The place was not half filled when we arrived. read more

One of the Adirondack originals! Stopped in prior to them opening and spoke with the bartender about a reservation for 15 for that evening. You could not have asked for a more pleasant and accommodating man who went out of his way to help. Most restaurants shy away from the big parties but these folks were welcoming. So my partner and I always have a date night when we come back to the ADK. We always Like to find someplace new and so far this has worked in our favor! I can honestly say we've never had a bad enough experience to post about... So we found this place on yelp! 4 stars and their menu looked great! We get there and we should've walked right out. The decor was dated and the menus were falling apart but we don't judge a book by its cover! So we kept our hopes high. We sat outside, and I ordered a strawberry margarita.... the orange slice on my margarita was old and dry. I get it's something simple and small but still cut the oranges fresh or at least fresher. The bread they brought us was stale. We had the Shrimp Jacqueline(21$) and the Seafood Courtney (29$ and it was a special)Bland, tasteless and just left a bad taste in our mouths. We did tell the waiter that we weren't impressed with either of the dishes and for the price of them we should have been. The waiter went and told the chef, our server came back and told US that the Shrimp Jacqueline dish is the most ordered dish and no one has ever complained. And that it probably not to our taste that's why we didn't like it. That it's not the chef's fault that the dishes are expensive but rather the ingredients that they use to make the dish is why it's expensive. We asked for the check and left. Nothing was reduced or discounted. Wasn't the evening we were expecting and sadly we won't be returning. read more

OMG! I remember the first time I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Seventh Lake House. I, with friends, had visited the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake. I asked the docent to recommend a place to dine and he, without hesitation recommened the Seventh Lake House. We arrived without reservations and we were treated as royalty! Like almost all central Adirondack dining spots, some seasons/years are better than others at the Seventh Lake House. Kitchen help and wait staff change over and menu items change. Having frequented the Seventh Lake House for more than two decades now, I believe it safe to say that 2015 has been a high water mark for the Holts. We have eaten dinner both inside and on the porch at least half a dozen times this year and have been thoroughly impressed on every occasion. The service has been pleasant and attentive, both at the bar and at the table. The menu is strong but interesting specials do lend themselves to some straying. Quality, preparation, and quantity have all been excellent, and at a fair price. Definitely worth either a first try or a return visit. read more

Definitely a great place to have a great meal. They have many menu choices that you just can't find at other area restaurants. We stay in Old Forge but it is absolutely worth the 10 mile drive to eat here. A super option before the Saturday night concerts in Inlet! Let it be known that I never attempted to complain at a restaurant or about a restaurant online prior in my life but this was the first for a good reason. I attempted to bring my girlfriend here and I opted to ignore the rundown portions of the restaurant in the hopes of receiving what was claimed to be "fine dining" food. We received bread from the waiter and within minutes we realized the bread wasn't even warmed and was also stale. To my chagrin, this was only the beginning of poor food. Our meal came out in an expedient fashion which had me worried about how it was prepared. Mind you, my girlfriend ordered the Shrimp Jacqueline and I ordered the Seafood Courtney ($21 and $29 respectively) so I expect at least some sort of quality for the higher prices. Sadly, the food was extremely disappointing. My girlfriend's dish was extremely bland and the tomatoes and rice were barely cooked all of which was sitting in a flavorless quart of watery broth. Mine was a goopy, unappetizing mess with poorly prepared ingredients. My scallops on my dish seriously tasted off and expired seafood is nothing to mess with because of the potentially lethal consequences. Our total bill came to $63.72 (my girlfriend had a margarita) and when I complained to my server, i was met with a lackluster response. The server returned to the kitchen and retorted with "it may not be my taste". As a chef and a food lover, there is little food that is "not my taste". Our bill wasnt discounted or were even offered anything to make up for a poor dinner. Sadly I will not be recommending this place to anyone. read more
