We used the Door Outlet 30 years ago for a remodel and they were great to work with at that time. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I stopped in to inquire about replacing our current custom windows with custom Anderson windows (not replacements). I had the measurements for 9 windows with me and asked the woman at the front desk for assistance. She was immediately annoyed that she had to get up from her desk to assist me. She informed me that they do not work with homeowners because they don't provide installation. I told her we have a contractor for the installation but that I wanted to see what windows were available. She was then dismissive and told me I could look around but would need to have our contractor contact them with the window measurements for a quote. No thanks, we will spend the 50K at another company who has excellent customer service and wants our business. read more

We recently had a discussion with Josh, a salesman at The Door Outlet, and picked out a front door and some hardware. Then we received a quote with changes we did not talk about in the store. The quote was missing information about a lower threshhold making it easier for a person on wheels to have a smoother entry. The zinc caming we had chosen was changed to a darker color without our being told. We could not figure out what the invoice was all about because Josh never called us back...so, the frustration level became high. Overall we felt this place has/had no concern for anyone "on wheels". On the phone today, Josh told my handicapped husband he did not want to do business with us. So, if you go there and this salesman says, "trust me," you need to know he is making decisions about what he wants, not what you want to buy. read more

Several years ago We bought a sliding window patio door, and a front door when we remodeled. Spent over $5,000. Frankly, we've had issues with all of the products. We're on our second front door because the glass in the first door slipped down. It happened again to the second door and we're just living with it since the company couldn't fix it much. We've had numerous problems with the back patio door. It kept slipping off the track and now the locking mechanism is funky. Granted we put these products in years ago, but they should have lasted much better. The company was ok to work with but it looks like they sell many inferior products. We thought we bought quality stuff. The patio door was a Milgard French slider. Not sure what the front doors were. We probably won't use this company again read more

Were easy to work with, no pressure. Gave us prices for everything and we picked what was in our budget. Our house is 1958, so we replaced 2 sliders, 3 exterior doors and most of the windows. Choose Milgard (locally made) very nice windows...really beat the old junk we had. You pick the hardward, took a few days...guys were really clean and neat throughout the whole project. Did not mind our dog pestering them. Had them come back and do one additional window weeks later. Highly recommend. read more

Price, Price, and again BEST PRICES! I shouldn't write this because they might raise their prices. But I got mine so I don't care! knew the door I wanted. A back door with a window and screen. The common brand is sold by big box stores but not this model. I shopped all over Ventura and the price went from $700, down by the Wharf.....to $600 at another popular near-by door store...to $375 at the DOOR OUTLET. I commented later about their low price and the owner said...."We are happy with our profit, we don't need to take advantage..." They gave me recommendations for installers but I used my own guy. I did shop around for the best price and found no major difference from the big box stores. In phase 1 our builders installed. Really disappointed in The Door Outlet. Placed a big order for commercial hardware and found out once they were installed they did not meet code. I relied on The Door Outlet to be the expert in helping me choose the right hardware. Once I found out that the hardware did not meet code I asked the vendor if he would return the hardware and replace with new approved hardware and he said that he would not return it for me. He was unwilling to help me with the situation and feel that this was really unprofessional and lacked customer service. I will not be returning to The Door Outlet for any of my future needs. read more

WONDERFUL job! From start to finish they did a great job. We had 17 windows replaced and Josh came in and provided me with great customer service. It took a month or so for me to finally get myself together to start the process but Josh was always patient and always responded to my emails.
