The hype is real! Undoubtedly Ireland's best pizza lives in Galway with Dough Bros. Made our own pizza with pepperoni and fresh garlic. The pepperoni was thick and super flavorful and the crust was perfectly charred underneath with an awesome chew. Honorable mention for their mixed drinks as well. Wife loved her Aperol Spritz and the Strawberry Basil Margarita was epic. Wished I lived here so I could come back.
Dough Bros was very busy during the lunch hour and I understand why - the pizza was delicious! You order at the counter and then are shown to a table which made the whole process seem less. Hip and cool vibes, with patronage to legendary musicians. The burrata pizza was simple, just tomato sauce and burrata with a few basil leaves on top. I'd definitely go back when in the area.
Based on a million recommendations, we went in for pizza. Live wasn't too bad. Very friendly workers. We ordered the proper ham and mushroom pie and a margarita pie. I also had a banana soda, which was delicious. The ham and mushroom pie was ten stars. Excellent. Crispy charred crust, salty ham on top. And the mushrooms were not those boring ones like a papa John's:) Margarita was a disappointment. It may be a cultural gap but the cheese was not fresh mozzarella! Instead it was basically a cheese pizza. Enjoyed the boisterous dining area.
This pizza is a must if you're in Galway! There was a line that took 15-20mins. Once inside, you order and they seat you. The pizza was brought to our table within 10 mins. So even though there's likely always a wait here, it moves quick and is so worth it. We got the Stinger and the Curry Cheese. The curry cheese was one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time and unlike any pizza flavor I've had. We ordered 2 pizzas for 2 people and had some leftovers, but the crust is thin so you could finish a pizza by yourself.
There was a line outside the door when we got there, but decided to stay because we had heard such great things. We got to the front after half an hour. The inside of the restaurant is super cool. Its decorations include retro video games, cookbooks & coffee table books on pizza, and their awards. We ordered the Stinger and the Curry Cheese pizzas. The service was extremely fast. Both pies were incredible; I see why they are called the best pizza in Ireland. The crust is very thin, but flavorful. The Stinger was more of a traditional pizza, with chorizo, garlic, and some peppers. The Curry Cheese was much more innovative/unique, with slices of potato and dollops of curry sauce. It had a nice kick of Indian flavor. Highly recommend this place and both of those pizzas!
What a lovely, quick, delightful experience. There's plenty of seating, it's well lit, the staff are helpful and kind, the bathroom was clean, and food was great! I ordered the curry cheese pizza and I hope I get a chance to come back to Ireland to enjoy it again! So flavorful, perfect amount of spice, and something Ive never had before. The garlic cheese bread was a little underwhelming. Tasty, but quite small for the price. I think id skip this next time. I love that they have their own beers. And the beers were nice, well balanced, easy drinking. Love it!
When you think Ireland, you certainly do not think pizza, but Dough Bros is on a mission to change that...and after eating at their spot in Galway, I fully support this mission! Voted #1 pizza in Ireland makes total sense now! This location on Middle Street in the heart of Galway is their flagship location, and is a modern space situated in a storied building. You are legit transported from old world Ireland on the outside to modern pizzeria inside. The space is laid out very well. Upon entry you hop right in line where you order, get your drinks and table number and are then led to your table based on party size. From there, once the pie is ready, a runner brings it to you. They have all the classics you are after, but also have a solid selection of house curated pies. We went with a few house pies including the Pepp Guardi-Jala and Proper Ham and Mushroom. Both were absolutely phenomenal, the dough, the cook on the crust, the cheese, toppings...*chef's kiss* Service was great from entry to exit. We were welcomed immediately, walked through the menu at ordering, assisted at our table and wished a great day. Solid service! Overall, a little jealous The Dough Bros have not made their way over the pond yet, but I guess this is just one more reason to get back to Galway sooner than later!
Don't know HOW this place received ANY stars from other reviews. Staff is incredibly rude. Believe the other reviews that comment on the staffs behaviour. 100% accurate. Over priced and NOT worth the hype. Huge mistake on my part. Put too much weight in the positive reviews and ignored the negative ones. It's mediocre pizza at best. American chain, Blaze Pizza, is better. That says it all. Trust me, skip this place.
I don't consider myself a pizza connoisseur by any means but I've had the privilege to try some highly regarded pizza in the US and have also tried some amazing pizza in Italy. Now I can add Ireland to that growing list. Dough Bros has been one of the most talked about pizza places in Galway and voted the best pizza there in 2022. When visiting other countries outside the US I always seek out their authentic regional cuisine but there's always room to try some different things too. This is what brought me to Dough Bros. We came for a late lunch, around 1:45 pm and the line was out the door and down the sidewalk. We considered coming back another time but changed our minds and decided to wait anyway. Wait was long. Even once inside the building at the counter, there was a long, lol between the counter person taking orders and not taking orders. I'm guessing because they were trying to give the kitchen some time to catch up. The entire time we were waiting in line I had no idea whether there would be an open table for us to sit once we ordered anyway. The restaurant was completely packed. Timing was on our side though, and we were able to have a table to sit at and drink some cold drinks while we waited for our pizza to be ready. Before too long, the pizza arrived at our table. It was piping hot and we had to wait a few minutes to be able to take a bite. The crust was thin, but still super tender. You could tell they make the dough fresh and it had that perfect chewy soft texture with a bit of crunch from the oven. It was still a bit soggy in the middle though, which was slightly disappointing since I prefer a crispy crust. The sauce was very balanced, and a generous amount of mozzarella on top. Most margarita pizzas aren't covered with mozzarella, which is one of the reasons I don't order them often. I love cheese! The flavors were balanced, and I especially loved the flavor of the sauce. I gave the Dough Bros five stars for the excellent pizza and friendly service. I could take away one star due to the length of time I stood in line and the fact that the kitchen couldn't seem to keep up however, the flavors of the pizza made the wait worth it to me. I can see why this place is so popular.
We chatted with a local in another town who insisted we try this place out. The line was pretty long but once we had ordered and were seated, we agreed we liked the way they set it up. You stand in line for order at the counter but by the time you've done that, there are always tables available. It's a good way to provide some crowd control. The food was delicious and the menu was clever. I only hate that we weren't more hungry so we could try more of the food. We kept it pretty simple with the margherita pizza and bro-schetta. Perfect amount of food and has us wanting to come back in the future to try some of their other concoctions!

The line was hella long and took us 45 min just to order carry out. We got the margherita, American, Pep Guardijala and the Proper Ham and Mushroom plus the garlic cheese bread and bros-cetta. The restaurant was clean and the vibe was good. The proper Ham and mushroom was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The other pizzas were tasty, but nothing to write home about. Hubby tried the Dough Bros IPA and liked it. Would definitely come back for that Proper Ham and Mushroom. read more

If you are in Galway and want pizza, don't waste your time getting it anywhere else than at Dough Bros! For pizza in Ireland, it is really the best. There always seems to be a line but it moves quickly. When you reach the front, you place your order, they show you to a table, and the food arrives a short time later. It looks like the menu changed a little bit because instead of a pepperoni pie, the pizza my husband got is now called "The Pepp Guardi-Jala" (margherita with pepperoni, candied jalapeños, and parm). He loved it! I had the "Hey Pesto" (pesto, mozzarella, balsamic red onions, goat cheese, and arugula/rocket). Delicious! They have beer but not on tap. My husband had a canned IPA while I had a bottle of delicious MacIvor's Irish cider. We would definitely come back here again! read more

We had a lovely pizza here while visiting Galway for the day. The Margherita and we added mushrooms. I had an orange soda my hubs still water, they have cocktails and beer available too, they also offer dipping sauces for your crusts. It's nice brick oven pizza. Great mozzarella. You order up front and then they bring you to a table with your drinks - hot pizza arrives shortly after from the authentic brick oven. read more

This place is BOMBBB. It was understandably super busy but the line moved quicker than I expected and the service was lovely. I ordered The Stinger and a spicy margarita and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Will 100% be going back next time I'm in Galway! read more

Reminded us of home. A cute take away or dine in restaurant to get delicious pizza. The line circled the block but moved very quickly. The flavors were impeccable and the pizza was light and delicious. We ordered a buffalo chicken and pepperoni with candied jalapeño pizzas. read more

We spent 2 weeks driving all of Ireland we hit Galway on our 7 day and feeling a little homesick so finding a good pizza location was just what we needed. Their pizza crust is nice and thin similar to NY style. If you're feeling a little melancholy for home definitely make it to The Dough Bros. read more

Located in a stone structure storefront in Galway is The Dough Bros wood-fired pizza. Despite not being in the mood for pizza, a quick search of reviews on both Google and Yelp convinced me to check out why others rave about this place, which I believe has been considered to be the best pizza in Ireland. I understand that lunch is a busy time, especially when all the tour groups visiting western Ireland stop off in Galway, but the line to order food was out the door, and the girl taking orders was very slow and inefficient (sometimes stopping to wander around in the restaurant to chat with others, leaving a line full of people waiting to order). You are only seated after you order, which creates chaos in the waiting area for families, larger groups, and more elderly guests where all you needed is one person on line to give an order. The interiors are tastefully done, but seats at ends of the restaurant in booth format were all like sitting on an uncomfortable wooden bench. We went with an order of garlic bread with cheese and a margherita pizza. The garlic bread was ok in taste and wasn't overly heavy, but the bread it was on (I think Irish soda bread) didn't make for a good base as much as a standard Italian bread. The margherita pizza fell into "just ok" territory as the bread/dough was a weak point in the creation. Cans on tables indicate that they use San Marzano tomato sauce, but the sauce really didn't have the zest a good San Marzano sauce usually has. Similarly, the cheese wasn't anything to write home about. The ingredients were fresh, but just not my thing as it was floppy with some burnt spots on the bottom. I had better pizzas in England and Scotland. There really isn't much wait staff service as nobody is around to wait on you, and we had to flag somebody to get some water, after the initial lady that took us to the table forgot about it. Overall, I'd rate it a 3.5/5 having gone in with low expectations of pizza in Ireland, but happy to round up. read more
The pizza 100% lives up to the hype and reputation and as good as any I've had anywhere else in the world outside of Italy. Caesar salad on a pizza? Yes perfectly executed love child of a salad and a pizza. It packs all the flavor of a Caesar onto a pizza with the soft pillowy and slightly burned crust of a wood oven pizza. The Margherita was great as well but live a little and go for one of the fun flavors instead. We got a side of the hot honey as well but it was mostly honey and no heat. Loved the mcdaid football special soda as well. Think less sweet Coca Cola with lorange notes There will be a wait. Takes awhile to get through the queue and 15 min to get your pizza. We were exploring Galway and found this truly amazing pizza place. The line went quickly, and even though it was busy, we were seated right after we ordered. The pizzas came out not even 10 minutes later piping hot and full of flavor! Don't sleep on the ranch dip either! Everything was healthy and if we lived closer there I'm positive we would be going to this restaurant every week. It is also nicely decorated with their story and awards all around the wall. 100/10 read more
Catching up on Yelp reviews as I visited The Dough Bros back in October. Rated as the best pizza in Ireland, it was extremely good and lived up to the hype! We arrived around 18:00 on a Thursday night. There was a long queue, but it moved so we waited about 15 minutes to order and get seated. You end up waiting in the queue, order at the register, and they give you a table/number. A little bit different, but it was pretty efficient. Ambiance was modern, well lit, and contemporary. We ordered the Bro's Margherita and the Pepperoni Pie. The pizza is Neapolitan style and it had a super soft crust. It was almost perfection and probably would have been if I liked Neapolitan style so it's a 9 instead of a 10. Cheese was good, but it needed some more on the pie. Sauce was also very good too. The pie were loaded with pepperoni and the candied jalapeños were excellent as they had some sugar or honey on them to make it super sweet. Both pies were very good overall! Crust: 9 Cheese: 7 Sauce: 8 Toppings: 9 Overall: 8.25 Overall, I see what the Dough Bros is rated as the best pizza in Ireland. It's not the best pizza that I had, but it was extremely good and definitely worth a stop while in Galway! read more

This is the first pizza place I tried in Ireland, and it did not disappoint!! The pizza topping combos are so creative and it was so hard to choose which pizza to try. I definitely recommend the Banh Mi pizza, which has pork belly, caramelized jalapeños, pickled carrots/radish, and flavorful sauces on top. I've never tried a pizza so tasty and unique! The Bees Knees was also good if you're a fan of hot honey on your pizza. You really can't go wrong with any pizza choice! read more

Cute place! Long wait times though and you cannot order ahead even for takeout, which was a bummer as we ended up waiting around 45 minutes for two pizzas to go. The pizzas were really good and love that they incorporate locally sourced ingredients! Wish they had more non-meat or non-pork options. Would recommend for a quick dinner! read more

This place ROCKS! If a business has a line out the door on a quiet street, you know it's either a gem or tourist trap. And this place is a local gem!! The staff was kind and the story of the family ownership is on the walls as you wait in line. The menu is large and diverse and everything is made fresh to order. The wait wasn't even that long for us to order or receive our pizzas! My friend tried the cheesy garlic pizza and I went for the carmelized onion, roasted red tomato, feta, pesto pizza. WE ATE EVERY BITE OF BOTH OF OUR PIZZAS!!! So good!! It was less than 20€ for each and if we were able to take leftovers and not just starving tourists visiting for the day, we would have definitely taken some home or come back a second time. Amazing pizza! Don't let the wait outside the door on to the street intimidate you. Worth the wait! We had the Curry Cheese, Legalize Marinara and the Hey Pesto. All three had amazing flavor on top of a crust that melted in your mouth. We expected the cute names to be gimmicky but they lived up to the name! read more

Everyone and their mother recommended this pizza place to us in Galway so we had to try it out. We tried the stinger, bros margherita, and american pie. They were all great! The people were really nice, we didn't have to wait for a table, and service was great. It's not life-changing pizza but I do get the hype, their merch was also very fun. read more

They're a perfect size to share or to have your own with some leftovers. The bruschetta is also highly recommended, it tasted so fresh! The pizza here is absolutely incredible. We first went to Dough Bros shortly after they opened, and returning 8 years later they are just as good. The service was wonderful and accommodating to our large party, and the restaurant was nice and cozy. The location we went to was a little cramped, but no pizza place in Ireland does it better. Highly recommend! read more
As an American traveling through Ireland I didn't expect to find amazing wood fired pizza, but the Dough Bros killed it. Staff is really fast and friendly. Very casual atmosphere. The food came out very quick and as mentioned, tasted excellent. After a day of hiking, this was a great spot to end a cold rainy day in Galway. read more

It was pretty good. My expectations were too high going in. They were out of everything we ordered and then tried to order so we ended up with not our top 3 choices, but weren't told until 20 minutes after we ordered. Then, We didn't get our garlic bread with cheese until after we ate. That was the highlight of the meal. The garlic bread with cheese and the garlic dip were amazing. read more

I was really excited to try this restaurant when I saw the line outside the entrance. The staff were excellent, I wish I could say the same about the pizza. The pizza was burnt and undercooked at the same time. The toppings were falling off while picking up the pizza slice. My advice to the owner is to find a better way to cook the pizza. Being from Boston, I think this place is very overrated and a little pricey for what it is. read more
This place was recommended to me by my AirBnB host, and it did not disappoint. the wait was typical for an evening and the service was good. My first credit card didn't want to run but they were kind and patient with me while we worked it out. I never order wine with dinner but it seemed very fitting for the meal, and for such a big glass of Cab, 6 euro was worth it. The atmosphere was busy and it was pretty loud but over-all, this was expected. My pizza arrived hot and it was amazing. I'm not someone that likes fire cooked pizza, I like the thicker and more traditional (American) crust pizza, but this... This was a whole other level. Maybe that was the half a glass of wine talking, but I could not stop eating this pizza. But, by the time I had finished I was definitely full. I would recommend 1 pizza per person, but if you're stopping by for a quick lunch, splitting one might be okay. But one was definitely right for me. If I'm ever in Galway again, I would definitely go back. read more
