Ordered 5 pizzas that came to $130 and 5 Little Caeser Hot and Readies would have blown this pizza away. It's amazing they can call these specialty pizzas because there was absolutely nothing special about this pizza. Let's start with the dough because it's right in the name of the business. It's tasteless and tougher than the box it came in. The toppings were nonexistent. At over $25 a pizza the pepperoni pizza had maybe a total of 8 tiny pepperonis. There was nothing to love about the Meat Lovers. The BBQ chicken pizza was dry and lacked sauce. Come to think of it all of them lacked sauce so at least they were consistent there. Save your money and pick up a frozen pizza at the grocery store. read more

Great place for pizza! We ordered a meat lovers pizza and it was delicious! The crust was crispy, and the toppings were yummy! Not too saucy, and prefect amount of cheese! Went here after reading great reviews. Got so excited about their buffalo chicken pizza. We ordered it to go. Smelled the pizza on our 20m drive back only to find a burnt pizza. The crust on the bottom was black. Hell the crust visible was burnt. How could you actually box up a burned pizza and think it's ok? Just how?! Charging $22 for burnt pizza? If anyone thinks that's ok is just cruel. My poor kids wouldn't even eat it. Shame on whoever boxed this burnt black pizza. read more

Terrific food and great service. We had pizza our first week from a different place and this week decided to try The Dough Shack's pizza. We are so glad we did! We had a large pepperoni and sausage. Stay away! Burnt two of three pizzas beyond being edible. I checked the top pizza and that one was the one that was not burnt. Even the pizza that was not burnt it still had heavy burnt smell and taste. I am pretty forgiving and understand some burning but this was beyond reason. read more

My daughter and I decided to ring in 2022 at the Outer Banks, and though we knew it would be fairly quiet around here, we had no idea that practically everything would be closed! We ventured out today to get out of the house, and decided we definitely needed to try these donuts. We stopped by just as the place had opened and decided to get a half dozen, 3 cake/3 yeast, and a mix of different glazes. I really loved how you choose your glaze and it's done right then & there! Honestly you don't see this where I'm from, it's either Dunkin or Krispy Kreme! We got home and each tried a yeast donut. We both went "MMMMM!!!!" with a mouthful of donut, lol! These were insanely good!!! As-in, I'm going to be comparing every other donut to these for the rest of my life! Later in the day we each tried a cake donut, and they were incredible out of the fridge. Sweet, cakey, not dry at all! The really friendly fella who served us mentioned he was serving pizza later today, and I'm really mad at myself for not stopping by again to try it! Very good pizza. Could use a touch more flavor and the dough was a little undercooked. Service was great as well as prices. The doughnuts were different, more like a cake texture. We went first thing in the morning right when they opened to get bagels and donuts for our crew of hungry families in a rented beach house in Rodanthe. They only have cake donuts which was a disappointment for us, but the (possibly) good news is they seem to make the donuts in house. That's the better news in this review because the bagels were absolutely terrible. They were clearly store bought and not made fresh. We couldn't tell that ahead of time because they don't display them at all, which made sense when we got them home and realized they were just stale grocery store bagels. We already had cream cheese and lox at home, but they charged us for cream cheese, even though we ordered them without. To top it off, the staff was surly. This place was expensive for the quality. Hubby got a breakfast sandwich and it said it was delicious, I got breakfast pizza (was a little over done for my liking), then we got some donuts for afternoon coffee. The chocolate pb is fantastic the pb is creamy and offsets all the sweet. The other one we really liked was lemon, hear me out cause I thought he was nuts ordering it. Went there to get a donut all they had was two and they appeared to be more hours old than I cared for. Asked for a bagel and was told all they had was plain which was ok, but then was told they had none because someone had forgotten to take them out of the freezer. Finely settled for an eclair (which was all they had left). The eclair had to be ad least two days old and I could not finish eating it. This might be a good place, this was my first and will be my last time going there. I'm here on vacation and do not have time for second opportunity's. My son and I biked over from our beach house and when the owner realized the boxes for our donuts were too big to bike home with, he personally gave us a ride home in his truck and put our bikes in the back. Full disclaimer, I am a bit of a pizza snob after living in NY for too long. It's shameful but there's no sense denying it. We started out with the mozz sticks which were top notch. Nicely fried with good batter and good cheese. Yum. Ordered a basic cheese pizza because I'm of the school that you only need toppings to mask an inferior pizza. Best thing about the pizza is the crust--tastes great and has good consistency. I wish it had been crisped up a little more--was too floppy and got a bit soggy after a few minutes. The cheese was good too, had a little tang or something. Biggest gripe is the sauce, which wasn't bad but tastes like something from the grocery store. Some tomato taste but really nothing else. No depth to the flavor. All in all a pretty good eat. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but if it was convenient it's worth a bite. read more

They fresh smoke chicken and tuna for sandwiches and subs. They also offer pizza by the slice. Soon they will open mornings and have fresh made donuts. The pizza is incredibly undercooked! Ordered on a Wednesday night, one pepperoni mushroom pizza, one white pizza, and 2 orders of mozzarella sticks. One piece of the pepperoni mushroom has no dough under it at all. The white pizza tasted good but was also undercooked, just not as terribly as the pepperoni mushroom. Treated ourselves to take out after a long drive and windy set up at the nearby KOA campground. Loved that it was walking distance and the food was even better. We ordered 2 pizzas, a salad, and wings. Everything was fresh and delicious. Since they were closing, they threw in some of their donuts and OMG, shut the front door. Pizza was okay. Nothing to write home about but one of the only options in Rodanthe. Very difficult to get ahold of them to place an order. Had to go in person to place our to go order as the unplug their phone from time to time or simply don't answer! Kind of frustrating but understandable since there was only a couple people working in there I think. They did give us some free donuts they had leftover at the end of the day!
