The construction makes this place unbearable to live. There is constant noise from 7-5 Monday through Saturday. My days I have off are completely ruined cause there is no peace and quiet. I am very annoyed I was not told about this when I moved in so I am warning all considering this place because the construction will continue late into 2026. Recently moved out of The Drake, and I couldn't have asked for a better 1.5 years living there! I applied to this building through DC's Inclusionary Zoning program, and I couldn't have asked for a more seamless experience. This building did not partake in the lottery, which made applying for the unit a breeze. I lived on the first floor, and while that wasn't ideal for me prior to moving in, I had a fabulous experience. When my windows were closed, I did not hear a peep from outside and rarely did I hear noise coming from other apartments. The walls are THICK!! The neighborhood is the most ideal spot, with parking around and lots of restaurants on the block. The building is incredibly safe and I never felt uncomfortable on the first floor, or ever in general! Beautiful lobby, common spaces, and amenities. While not the biggest apartments, these units are top notch, with beautiful finishes and high ceilings that truly optimized the space. I lived in a junior one bedroom and was extremely comfortable throughout my time there. These apartments are stunning all around and I genuinely enjoyed every minute spent in my unit. Highlights include in unit W/D, with also a community laundry room for bigger items. And for free! This was extremely convenient to have. The penthouse includes all of the amenities, including a small yet functional fitness space that I visited frequently. The roof was where most of my time was spent in the warmer months, and the attention to detail was strong up there. Comfortable furniture, beautiful landscaping, grills, and gorgeous views. I couldn't have asked for a better set up. Lastly, the lounge was a perfect spot to hang with friends and get work done. Last but not least, the building staff. Shout out to Randy, Celeste, Nick, and Mya for providing a seamless move-in/move-out experience while attending to any needs that would come up. Management is always respectful, responsive, and willing to work with you always with a smile on their face! The building maintenance was incredible, with a special shout out to Greg for assisting me with putting up and removing wall items when I moved in/out. Rarely did I have any issues, but when a maintenance issue came up, it would be fixed within 24 hours. Friendly staff all around, amazing door people, and always a clean building to move around in. Shout out to everyone working at the Drake! I'm not sure I'll ever live in such a wonderful full service building again, and I will cherish my time spent at the Drake! Would recommend this building to anyone and everyone. read more

Beware! The building next door is under construction from 7:00 am Monday through Saturday, apparently through April 2026. A structure has been built in the air space above the shared driveway, placing workers within a few feet of the Drake tenants' windows, resulting in a lack of privacy and extreme noise. Drake tenants on that side of the building also currently view close up a waist-high sea of waste in the building under reconstruction, unnecessarily illuminated 24/7. The two shared spaces on the upper level "Penthouse" of the Drake building--the small conference room, and a spacious room open to tenants--cannot be reserved, so tenants are out of luck if they need to hold a private online business call or meeting if it is literally too loud to do so in their own apartment home... Having benefited from these reviews myself when I was looking to move, I wanted to share my experience at the Drake. This building has gone downhill recently, which is a shame. Bottom line, the main building manager is absolutely miserable to work with, condescending, rude, and he only cares about bringing in new tenants/raising rent/making money. Folks in the building talk about how awful he is to work with, but Keener Management keeps him around and does not rotate him out to another building unfortunately. It makes the experience of living here extremely unpleasant. A few other things you should consider: 1) Price point. These units are extremely small and completely overpriced for the square footage. There is a reason why they don't list the square footage online, because the units in this building are absurdly priced compared to comparable units in new buildings in the area. This might have worked when the building was new several years ago, but not with the conditions these units are in now and with the price points in the post-covid market. 2) Noise/ventilation. If you don't like hearing your neighbor's doors slam shut when they come home at 2AM or their music at 7AM, this building is probably not for you. The units are tiny and the noise carries from the halls into the units. None of the units have windows that open up more than a couple inches so if you are cooking anything in the apartment, the smell will be there for days. The building does not use hepa filters (they use the cheapest possible bulk filters), so the apartments get extremely dusty. Not great if you have any allergies or during flu season. These factors are important to take into account in a covid-world where many people study at home/telework, as these apartments become extremely confined. 3) Air conditioning. If you value having AC in the summer months that you can control, then look elsewhere. The AC in these units have a control panel inside the apartment, but the reality is that you can't actually control the temperature or turn the AC on to cool down the unit when it gets hot (the AC doesn't go below a certain temperature, no matter what you set it to). It makes for very miserable summer days if you ever have to spend time in the units during the summer months in D.C. 4) Amenities. There really aren't many amenities in this building that aren't standard in buildings in the area at this point. The gym has outdated machines with TVs that don't pick up any channels/aren't connected to cable. There used to be coffee machine in the lobby that had mediocre coffee/tea, but that has been gone for over a year. 5) Community. Because the building management only cares about raising rents and pushing existing tenants out of the building (there must be a bonus or something for new tenants they sign on?) the building is essentially a revolving door with zero community. There is no effort made to keep existing tenants happy. Rents have decreased significantly as a result of the pandemic, but the management won't budge on rents for existing tenants. 6) Response time. The building management is reluctant to respond to requests unless you ask them repeatedly. I'll update this review if I see any changes/any responsiveness from building management, but for what they are charging for these units, people need to know what they are getting into. read more

Before my move to The Drake I spent a lot of time researching apartments and noticed very few reviews for apartments. Fast forward over a year later to writing this review which will hopefully be helpful to someone. As a reference I am in my late 20s and I have lived in The Drake for over a year. Pros: 1) Location -- great, safe neighborhood. One block from amazing restaurants (Agora, Duke's Grocery, Sushi Taro, Little Serow and more). 2) Accessibility- Located close to the Red Line metro (DuPont and Farragut North) and only a little bit farther of a walk will get you to Blue, Orange and Silver Line (Farragut West). There is a Capitol Bike share location directly out front (however, due to the close proximity to John Hopkins it is frequently almost empty/empty depending on the time of day). Walkable to Georgetown, Logan Circle, 14th Street and more. 3) Groceries -- CVS is one block away as well as a Whole Foods and Safeway within easy walking distance. 4) The building -- nice features, new, always clean and well maintained. Great rooftop space with a view of the Washington Monument, comfy chairs and 2 grills (which could only be made better by a pool) 5) Management -- Keener Management is easily my favorite management company of any building I have ever lived in. They are phenomenal. Quick to respond to any questions or concerns. All maintenance requests are taken care of the same day (and usually complete in a few hours). 6) For the most part, a quiet and calm building. Unfortunately, I can hear my upstairs neighbor walk around and move their desk chair. I haven't ever heard any of my neighbors surrounding me except for occasionally in the hallway. I am an extremely light sleeper and due to my close proximity to the elevator shaft I am often woken up by the elevator moving (annoying but manageable). Cons 1) Price -- more expensive yet not unreasonable for other apartments nearby. Utilities are included, which is a plus. 2) Size -- I have a studio -- it is small but manageable and all the space I really need. The storage unit in the underground garage that is included is helpful. 3) Parking -- at $250 for an underground assigned spot this is more expensive than my last apartment in DC but again not unreasonable when compared to other apartments. In summary of my longer-than-expected review, I highly recommend The Drake! It's a great place to live! read more

However, noise carries everywhere and the tenants are mostly 20 year olds who discourteous and very loud, especially when they and their friends are coming home at 2 AM! Also, while management is authorized to enter a unit for maintenance. They aren't authorized to go through personal items. read more

I've had a great experience living at The Drake for the past 2 years. I travel a lot for work and love not having to worry about my home while I'm gone. It really makes travelling a lot less stressful! The front desk provides services like dry-cleaning drop off/pick up, accepting and holding packages, and issuing keys to my guests and cleaning service. Lots of amenity space here. The fitness center is on the top floor and has a great open view. (Gives me incentive to work out!) There's a private dining room with a chef's kitchen that you can reserve for private dinner parties. Most impressive to me is the lobby. The beige marble floors, wood panel accents and original art work gives the building a rich feel. The staff is very friendly and always greets me with smiles and hellos. read more

I really don't know how they can get 5 star rates. Extremely arrogant and disrespectful!!! The worst leasing agent I have ever met. Strongly unrecommended. Annie sometimes doesn't reply to me before the visit. During the apartment tour, she said she can hold the 1B1B apartment for me as long as I submit my apply. However, after I drove four hours back to Pennsylvania, made my apply and submitted all my documents as well as my ESA pets' documents which are supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She said that her senior manager and her need to see me in person within two days without telling me what happened otherwise they would cancel my apply. I feel very confused and it's impossible and ridiculous for me to drive to DC again especially when I have flights on the next few days!!! I don't know why they can't do the phone call or FaceTime or let me sign the contract which has better legal effects than "talking in person". What irritates me more is when my boyfriend tried to talk with Annie, she just rudely interrupted what my boyfriend saying and argue again that you have to meet with us within two days. Will never choose Keener Management again. What I felt is totally disrespectful and peremptory. I will never use more than 2000 dollars a month to suffer from their extremely unreasoning attitude. They still owe me an official apology and explanation, not excuses. read more

We've called The Drake home for nearly nine months and everything about it is terrific. First, the prices are super competitive for the area and management makes it easy to sign a lease. The rent includes everything -- including utilities. The building is rock solid and soundproof. The units are modern, elegant and smartly designed. I've had bigger kitchens, but none as nice or as fun to prepare a meal within. Each home even comes with extra storage (great place to place thing use use infrequently, such as luggage). The community is lively but never noisy. Residents are friendly and professional. The entire building is spotless and fresh (they even mop the fire stairs from top to bottom).There are no pets, which for many is a plus. The management is professional, the lobby staff friendly, and the maintenance team phenomenal (they'll even hang your artwork if you ask). Everything you need is only a short walk away -- Metrorail at Dupont, numerous bus routes, Whole Foods, and even a mini Safeway up the block. And, if you don't want (or need) to leave the building, the rooftop has a amazing views of the city, free wireless access, a club room, two grills, patio furniture, and a gym with the basics! There's also a business center and unlimited coffee service in the lobby. The Drake is an amazing place to live and I'd recommend it to anyone, hands down. read more

I've lived at The Drake for a year and couldn't be happier. The staff, including building management, maintenance and security, are very friendly and helpful. You can see that they all take pride in the building and their work, and the building always looks clean and extremely well maintained. The building is brand new and so the apartments are fitted with washers/dryers, stainless steel appliances, granite benchtops and oak floors. I have never seen so much as a single bug of any sort the entire time I have been here, which was very important to me given the experiences I have had in other DC buildings. The walls are also very thick, and I never have issues with noise from my neighbors. The utilities are included in the rent which actually makes the rent reasonable for the area. The building has communal areas on the penthouse level, and whilst the gym is a touch small it's usually very quiet and I've never had any trouble accessing a machine. The location is perfect being close to a CVS, Wholefoods, Safeway and restaurants and bars on 14th/17th/Dupont Circle. It's also easy to access a few different metro lines. They hold events for tenants and leave small thoughtful touches like hanging candy on your door as a gift for tenants on Halloween. I'd like to see an automated package system that texts you when you have a package (rather than leaving a key in the mailbox) and the front desk being manned all day/everyday (during weekday business hours the leasing office assists with front desk duties). Also, an improved online portal would be of great use (but I believe this may already be in the works). Having said this, I am really clutching at straws trying to find fault with this building. The only reason I am leaving is to move countries, otherwise I would be staying in this building long term. I highly recommend it and I am sure that future tenants will enjoy it as much as I have. I've lived in the Drake for a little over a year and in Dupont circle for 5 years. It's an excellent building with excellent management and staff. It's hard to beat the amenities in this building compared to other rentals in the neighborhood--hardwoods, luxury finishes, stainless steel appliances, in-unit W/D, ice maker (yes, this is rare in the city), dishwasher, built-ins and even quiet drawers. The business center, coffee machine, and common areas are great for students or the work from home crowd. The gym is clean and convenient. Each unit comes with a small storage space and bike storage in the basement for no additional fees. Packages are held at the front desk and there's always someone to sign for them. All utilities are included in rent, which makes for a few less bills you have to deal with each month. I can't say enough nice things about this building and staff. It's a great place to live. read more
