I have been a tenant of The Windsor House for many years and have seen Property Managers come and go. Since Robert Burroughs arrived on the property, I have had nothing but positive experiences living here. Services to the tenants have always been friendly, professional and prompt. If at all possible, responded to on the same day. The building has been kept very clean and in tip top shape during Robert's tenure here. Unfortunately, the Mgmt Co, Borger Mgmt, will no longer manage the Windsor House and Robert is leaving after almost 10 years of exemplary management. I've been living in Windsor House for roughly 3 years. It has been the most wonderful experience I could ask for. The only reason why I'm moving is because my family required a two-bedroom. The staff are AMAZING! The building managers, Robert and Lucilla, always go above and beyond to assist your needs. The maintenance crew are kind, efficient, and supportive. They're very quick at fixing any repairs you may encounter. LaShawn, the evening security guard, is always willing to help and ensures a safe atmosphere after hours. Everyone that lives here is friendly and down-to-earth. I've never had a bad experience with anyone. The apartments themselves are lovely and well-designed. I started in a studio and later upgraded to a Junior One-Bedroom. Both felt spacious and stylish. I never experienced any noise issues from neighbors. The building often hosts gatherings for residents so you can get to know your community better. The rooftop pool in the summer is an added asset! The location can't be beat - you're in a short walking distance from CVS, Whole Foods, 14th street with tons of stores and restaurants. You're also near Logan Circle, which is great if you have a dog to walk or simply enjoy spending time there. Two of my friends have moved in the building after I recommended it to them, because it's just that great! For the price and what you get, it is definitely worth it. read more

I've been living in this community for one year and i can say that this is one if not the best community to live in the area! The location: Everything you need is here: CVS, Whole Foods, 7Eleven, and tons of restaurants within a 2 min walk.. Metro and Bus are close by as well. The building: Well maintained, with a magnificent crew that will take care of everything you need as fast as possible. it has a rooftop pool that is absolutely fun on sunny days. the halls are clean and quiet, and the walls are thick so there is a good sound isolation that makes your place very intimate and cozy. The management: Robert is managing the building with a personal care, and take care of everything when needed. his stuff are always available, giving service with a big smile. The community: The community has friendly neighbors, and the management is throwing parties every once in a while. it is definitely a place to meet people.. Also very quiet during the night. Unfortunately i had to move to another city due to work and studies..otherwise i would have stay for much longer. Windsor house is definitely a place to call home. Highly recommended! read more

Don't let the prime location fool you. it is tempting i know. i lived there for 3 years b/c of the location. This is the most incompetant staff you will ever encounter. a short list of what you can count on: 1) loss of your rent check and then possible eviction forms. 2) no hot water in nov/Dec for at least 1 week. 3) A/C breaking at the start of almost every season. 4) Any fixes will have to be refixed in a couple of months. 5) rude front office, Rhonda Johnson. 6) Loss of or damaged packages due to inept care for them in the front office. 7) disregard for customer service. 8) Disprect of you. 9) napping security guard 10) trash not getting picked up so it piles up the chute to at least the 7th floor. 11) washing machine breaking at least 1x every 2 months 12) ...flooding on the first floor at least. read more

Highlights: *Clean, modern apartment *Very affordable *Front office to get packages during the day *Amazing neighborhood to live in - lots to do nearby I've been living at Windsor House for four years, and I've been very happy with it. The apartment building is clean and looks nice, and the actual apartments are very nice - the studio I live in has hardwood floors and a full-sized, modern kitchen. The studios are big and open, so even though they are only 500 square feet, they don't feel tiny. The apartments all have one window with a very large window, which is great for getting lots of natural light. I saw that a previous commenter said they had issues with bugs, but I've never had that issue at all. When we first moved in, we had some issues with the front office - they would misplace documents or forget we turned things in, but we haven't had any issues like that in the last few years. The front office is open all day, they get your packages and keep them safe in a back room until you collect them. The people working in the office are very friendly and easy to work with. Also, whenever things are broken, they fix them very quickly - when our refrigerator quit working, it was replaced with a new fridge within a day. Lastly, one of the best things about this apartment is that it's one of the most affordable places to live in around this neighborhood. The Dupont-Logan area is great - lots to do, but also has a residential feel on the side-streets. read more

I moved in about a month ago, and so far it's awesome. The rent isn't cheap, but as someone who researched dozens of buildings in the area, it's the best happy medium between a not-so-great building and a super-overpriced "luxury" apartment. Plus all utilities are included, and the air conditioning is as cold as it is free! My other options on the block included paying $100-200 less for a building that felt very poorly maintained and dingy, paying $200 less (but being responsible for water and electric, and only having an ancient window unit owned by the building for a/c) for a smaller studio, and paying $150 less for a tiny square of open living space with nice finishes. And then the next option "up" was going to be $200+ more, with less space and lots of the added hidden fees that come with a new building. I'm happy to pay what I do to be at Windsor! The details: The renovations inside are great. I have one of the studios that was renovated a couple years back, and I think the newest re-finishes are even glitzier. The pool and rooftop are nice, though I haven't been up there much - it's not a huge space, and I'm always worried it's going to be awkwardly crowded at the end of a hot work day. The courtyard is really nice too, and hardly ever has people in it at night. The building seems to be made up of young professionals, and I hardly ever hear any noise at all from surrounding apartments. There's laundry on my floor (not sure if it's on every floor, but I know there are a bunch of machines) and a trash chute...so no dragging bags of garbage into the elevator. It's in a really convenient, safe, and fun area and (while not the cheapest on the block) the best deal for your money if you're looking for a studio. read more

I moved to DC from Texas and did my apartment hunting online. I picked the Windsor House because the price was the best deal for the sqft for a building with a rooftop and in house management. Since I've moved in, I've been nothing but impressed with the staff and the unit. My apartment is spacious, brightly lit, and I have a in unit washer/dryer. The staff is absolutely amazing. Everyone is super courteous and helpful. The location is second to none, next to a whole foods, cvs, and the 14th street bus stop and restaurants. I am super excited to be living here! read more

I moved into Windsor house before actually seeing the property in person but I feel like I got so lucky. I have no issues with the apartments besides the rent could be cheaper as I am a grad student. But with the location, utilities included, the cleanliness, and management, I really love staying here! The pool is an added bonus. It's about 15 minute walk to DuPont metro that I take everyday. Easy 20 minute walk to U street. Very convenient with meeting people with great access to DuPont, U street, Columbia heights via the bus on 14th street, Georgetown University and Howard University via the G2 bus that runs through. I had the opportunity to move to a much cheaper location further away but I decided to pass because I really love living here and all of the pros you get outweigh the cons. The rent is really a good deal compared to other apartments in the Logan circle and DuPont area. read more

We've live in three different apartment buildings during our years in DC and I have to say Windsor House has BY FAR been the best experience we've had. The staff was incredibly nice and went out of their way to make us feel at home. They knew our name to the point that when we had packages delivered, they would come out of the office to hand us the package as we were on the way to the elevator. Some of the apartments have been recently renovated and thus, offered incredible value for the rent charged. Couldn't ask more from the location as it's within walking distance of Dupont Circle, 14th Street corridor, U Street, and all of the museums and the Mall. Also, all metro lines are within a 10min walk. The rooftop pool definitely ranks among some of the most beautiful in DC as it has a great view but it's also not the industrial look that some of the newer buildings have to their pools. The maintenance team is also very nice and efficient. I don't think there's been a single maintenance request that did not get solved within 12 hours. Overall, highly recommend it! read more

I called Windsor House home for seven years and loved every minute of it! The Community Manager Robert does an outstanding job meeting the needs of all residents; the maintenance staff is quick to fix anything that requires their attention; Lashawn and the security team are top-notch and the pool on the roof is an incredible amenity to have during those hot DC summers. Windsor House is one block away from: - Whole Foods - CVS - Vida gym - TD and PNC Bank branches - 7/11 - The buzzing 14th Street corridor with more than 40 amazing bars and restaurants You will not find a better deal in the area for what Windsor House offers! Lived here for a year, and while the rent was through the roof, I loved it. Would have stayed longer if the price was more affordable. No roaches, great staff, AMAZING nightime security guard (LaShawn is the greatest!), and the manager, Robert, was always around to help when he could. Only complaint? I lived in the Windsor House for nearly 7 years. If it weren't for my recent move-in with my boyfriend to his new house, I would have stayed much longer! It has been hands down one of the best places to live in DC and I moved here over 11 years ago from California and lived in other neighborhoods prior to moving to Logan Circle. THE BUILDING: Windsor is ideally located within walking distance to everything--Whole Foods, CVS, and tons of restaurants/bars along 14th street. While the building itself is older than some of the other new high rises that have cropped up in the last several years, the building is well maintained and many of the units have been renovated (including mine, which had beautiful bamboo flooring, stainless steel appliances and new cabinetry). You are greeted with a cute coy pond in the front of the building and above, there is a great rooftop pool to enjoy hot DC summer days. STAFFING: Robert is the building manager. He is incredibly responsive and has helped me personally bring packages to my unit when I haven't been able to get them from the front desk because of late nights at work. He is the best! The grounds crew are also all very friendly and do an incredible job at maintaining the building. I called Windsor House my home for 7 years and would highly recommend others to do so as well! read more

Great apartment building! I've lived there for 24 years and I can tell you that the moment the building switched to the current management, it became excellent. I loved living in this building. The location was great and the apartment was a good size, especially compared to the current newly built buildings. Robert, Victoria, and everyone else in the management office was really nice and super helpful. I am truly sad that I had to move out. Definitely recommend this building! read more

I've lived in Windsor House Apartments for 2 years and it is truly home. I shopped around the area for a studio apartment in one day for a quick job transfer and Windsor definitely stood out. Robert and Victoria have been beyond helpful since day 1: bringing big packages up to my room so I didn't have to, holding my keys at their desk for when my parents were in town and I was stuck at work, and even checking my apartment to make sure I turned off my straightener :) They go above and beyond. The night and security staff are the same way. Lashawn is one of a kind and the best part of the building...besides the rooftop pool. Amenities and utilities are included which is so rare, and I was able to pay month to month after my lease was up. Totally recommend this building - in the best neighborhood of DC, very safe, very accommodating. read more

Honestly some of the best management I've seen. The staff here really care about the residents - everyone from management to maintenance do everything they can for you. It's clear they take care to hire good people, and it just adds that extra layer of comfort/security - especially when you're new to the city. Horrible horrible place! I couldn't be happier that I moved out. The building is cheap, but for a reason (big fire in 2010, horrible alarm system - my friend knew about the fire only when there were lots of people outside and firemen came, careless management). The corridors are dark and depressing, apartments are quite old and with all kinds of "pets" (roaches, mice, etc). But the worst thing is management. Very irresponsible and messed. You can only pick up packages during their work hours. Finally, after I moved out, I had some back order delivered to my old adress, windsor house informed me about the delivery a week or so later and asked me to pick it up. I was traveling and had a lot of work, so i could come to pick it up only 10-12 days later. They told me they had no idea where it was, probably they sent it back, but they have no record, maybe lost, maybe smth else. They didn't even warn me that there was a chance of this happening and it was a tiny small package (not to mention that they could have asked the delivery person to drop it off at my current address which they have and have previously done it upon my request). And when I came to the office, I got this attitude "we don't give a f**k, it''s all your problems". Very unpleasant. The location is nice, but that's about it. There are much better buildings around, some of which are also affordable. read more

UPDATE 11/09: Tenants received noticed at the beginning of the month that rent is due on the 1st of every month, and the management company will consider it late, if the rent is submitted after the 1st. Late fees will be applied for every day it is late. Interesting decision since my lease stated that one has 7 days after the 1st to pay the rent. Thankfully, I am finally out of there! ORIGINAL POST I moved into this building because the rent was cheap and the great location; those are about the only two good things I can say about this place. I have finally had it and am leaving this place. Below are a few things I would suggest thinking about before renting a place at the Windsor House. - Pest infestation: This apartment building is crawling with cobkroaches. I have lived in DC for 10 years, and I have never lived in a place that is literally crawling with cockroaches. It does not matter if you put out roach bait, spray or clean with bleach, this place just produces massive amounts of cockroaches. My final straw happened when I was napping on my coach and was awoken by a cockroach crawling on my arm!! To my knowledge, they don't offer extermination services. In the two years, I lived there, I have not seen an exterminator in the building. - Terrible management: Borger Management has managed to find someone even more incompetent and rude than the previous manager (Wanda). I know it's hard to believe, but Niyi is far worse than Wanda. Niyi attempts to intimidate tenants--not sure if it's because I am female--and is awful with people. Beyond the terrible manners, Niyi will flat out lie to your face. He has said a number of things to me, and when I follow-up, he completely changes his story. Put everything in writing! - Garage Door Left Open: Yes!! The garage door to the underground parking garage is left open, and I have seen random cars drive into the parking garage. What's the point of paying $200 for parking if the Windsor House will leave the garage door open. I have complained about this, but it has fallen upon deaf ears. - Mold in the Air/Heat Vents: In late spring/early summer of 2009, I was constantly getting sick. I originally thought that I might have developed allergies, but I came to find out that the air/heat vent was full of mold!! I found the mold when I was attempting to tighten the vent's screws (vent rattles a lot). I saw that the whole side of the vent was covered with mold. I immediately reported this to Wanda (she was the manager at the time), and she said there was no way there could be mold. I told her that there was and it needed to be cleaned out immediately. Her response was to send Ray (maintenance) with bleach and a rag to wipe the mold off. Yes, that was the solution. I'm no mold expert, but I don't think that's the proper way to get rid of mold. - Maintenance: The Windsor House will only send meintenance to your apartment if it is something that may cause serious damage (major leaks, mold, etc.). We put in a request to fix a sink door in late 2008. Needless to say, the door has yet to be fixed (yes, almost a year since that request was submitted; thankfully, I'll be out of here soon!). Like I said, if you're strapped for cash and want to live in this area, the Windsor House is an option. If you can afford any other building in the area, I would seriously urge you not to live here. read more

I only lived here for 3 months, that was plenty. They changed their policies so many times in just three months I got dizzy trying to keep up. I moved their bc they allowed pets, they changed the policy 4 times while I was there. The building is old and people can smoke in their apartments, which then makes your apartment smell like smoke constantly. The entire hallways smell like and ashtray bc it seeps out of apartments and there isn't proper ventilation. I ended up moving less than 2 blocks, same size place, completely renovated, smoke free and dog friendly and an actual professional staff who know what they are doing for the same rent amount. I have lived in the WIndsor House from Jan 2013 to April 2015. I can't say enough wonderful things about this apartment building, but I will break it down into key points: 1) Units: I lived in a studio that was renovated and had a beautiful updated bathroom. The kitchen wasn't my favorite because it was small but that was my choice given my affordability. The studio was a decent size 600sq ft after seeing what other crappy studios looked like in DC. This studio was an open layout and I once had a dinner party with 20 people in it. It was still very comfortable and spacious. 2) Management staff: Robert and Victoria are the most courteous, friendly and helpful people ever. I've lived in several buildings where the management is a pain. Windsor House (Robert and Victoria) are incredibly generous and always willing to help resolve an issue. They also throw wonderful parties once a quarter, supplying delicious foods and drinks. They put thought and care into make sure that they tenants truly enjoy their living areas. My job required frequent travel and they always made sure to deliver packages inside my apartment. They are also extremely responsive to email requests. These two deserve a raise! 3) Maintenance: Freddy is my lifesaver. No matter what problem I had...even when I bought a heavy mirror and wanted it hung on the wall - he did it for me complimentary. That's amazing. He's always friendly, quick, responsive, and ensures that when I come home, my problem will be fixed. 4) Location: on 14th street! You could not live in a better neighborhood. I could walk to my office, walk to all the best bars and restaurants, walk to three grocery stores, walk to Chinatown (in 20 min), walk to three metro lines. Just PERFECT location. 5) Building amenities: I LOVE THE ROOFTOP POOL. Best pool in DC. Best views, and best management. read more

I can't say enough great things about the Windsor House. If you read a bad review, check the date it's probably old because the management staff has turned over in the last 2 years or so and I've witnessed a complete 180. The building is a bit old-looking compared to some of the other, pricier options in the area, but don't let that fool you. Here's my list: - Very clean inside (maintenance cleans every morning) - Beautifully landscaped courtyard in front - feel free to sit at a patio table and eat dinner or watch the fish in the little pond. - Awesome rooftop pool that's never crowded, with comfortable loungers and gorgeous views of DC and the Washington monument. - Perfect location in the heart of Logan Circle area, under a 1 minute walk from Whole Foods, hardware store, dry cleaners, etc. And a 5 minute walk from anywhere your friends will want to go out. - Walking distance to every single metro line (12 min walk to Dupont/Faragut N, McPherson Sq, 15 min walk to U St) - Laundry room on every floor. - Rent-controlled and probably the most affordable high-rise building in the area. - Utilities included. - Management is warm, friendly, and extremely responsive. The office holds your packages for you until you can make it in to pick them up. So no need to fear packages getting stolen. - Maintenance fixes issue within 1 day of putting in a request and are willing to help you out with any reasonable request. - Coffee in the mornings in the lobby. - Seasonal parties thrown at the pool or lobby. List goes on, but I don't want to bore you. Go check it out! read more

I want to give a fair review, so have been trying to figure out cons to balance the pros I want to write about, but can't come up with many. I lived in Windsor House from 2016-2018 and enjoyed the many benefits - great location; extremely (extremely!) responsive management (Robert in particular); incredibly friendly night front door security; light filled apartment; fantastic roof top pool open Memorial Day to Labor Day (and later if weather is nice); free coffee daily; monthly parties hosted by management with food, drinks and music; and attentive maintenance staff who do a great job making sure all common space is clean and tidy daily and also resolve any maintenance issues you have within the same day. The units are updated frequently with renovated kitchens and bathrooms, and it's incredible to find a place with units that have washer and dryers on each floor as well as inside the units. Rent is also fair for the area and only increases slightly each year. Uncovered and covered parking also available. Really hard to come up with any cons! read more

I'd like to give this place a full review, but I didn't end up living here. I was planning on moving in soon, but after it took the management two weeks to get the application processed, another week and a half to send the lease, having the date that the apartment would be available due to delays in repairs, and having them mix up my move in date several times, I decided to look elsewhere. I have LOVED living at Windsor, I honestly could not recommend a better apartment in a better location. I have lived at Windsor House for about a year and a half and only have positive things to say. The units are renovated with high end appliances, beautiful floors, accent walls (love the neutral color scheme) and some even have recessed walls which gives the apartment some character. Units are very spacious and even have their own washer/dryer combo, which is a rarity in many downtown apartments, especially in the Logan Circle / Dupont neighborhoods. Building management and staff were always friendly and accommodating - even with last minute requests. This was my first apartment in a new city and I could not have had a better experience. Very sad to be leaving, it truly felt like home. read more

I have lived in the Windsor House for almost 2 years and I love it. I have a spacious sunny studio with a great layout and amazing closet space. The building management and maintenance are wonderful. The building is well kept, clean, with a beautiful pool on the roof and a lovely courtyard. It's safe and friendly- the type of building where almost everyone holds the elevator doors and says hello and goodbye- crazy in DC, right? The staff has been extremely helpful throughout the entirety of my stay and even worked with me over phone/email to arrange my stay here when I lived hours away and was unable to physically visit. Wow! We have lived at Windsor House for a year and a half and it has been the most amazing experience. Any maintenance requests, they fix them immediately. And the building manager is so kind and generous with his time - the customer service of the management company exceeds any expectations. They accept packages in the front office and will even drop off packages in your apartment upon request - truly so generous. The night time security staff is really wonderful and overall I have met great people in the building. The apartment is in excellent condition, and there is laundry on the hallway and even in select apartments. The neighborhood and location is awesome - so central and so close to lots of good restaurants, bars and grocery stores. This building has met all our needs and then some! I lived at the Windsor for a year, 2016 - 2017. I have to say that I enjoyed being part of the Windsor family! Robert, the on site Manager is terrific at ensuring that tenants are happy and well taken care of. Maintenance issues are immediately dealt with and workers are professional and courteous. I had a junior studio with plenty of closet space and washer/dryer. The pool is gorgeous and courtyard parties,organized by Robert, ensure great evenings of food, music and lively conversation.
