Great people great food. Affordable prices beautiful scenery. Gourmet steak dinner under 20 bucks.

Sadly, this was my first food service establishment experience in Bismarck, ND and boy, I was disappointed. Going to the "highly recommended for "new-in-towners" The Drink, I was expecting something a little more hip and put together. Other than the company I kept, it had a long way to go before it was a "to go to place"! Location: a 15-20 minute drive from anywhere in Bismarck. Decor: sports/martini/lake harbor bar?? Clearly, they have no idea who they want to be when they grow up and it showed. The upside was the they have a patio and it has a so-so view of a small harbor for boats, but they were playing 50 Cent's "Get Rich of Die Trying" CD and had a toothless bartender...what??? It's clean and has highly vaulted ceilings, but.... geez, what an airball. Food: popcorn, THAT'S IT. So I drive all the way across town to have a drink and a snack before dinner, and I'm presented with popcorn and a cheap martini? The cheap martini was good, but if I want to have another, I have to hail a cab because there's no way I'm driving all the way across town when the cops run rampant! Service: there were all of, hmmmm.... maybe 8 people in the entire place, including the 2 bartenders, and our server is running around the place with her head cut off, toothless and all and I just, ugh, not a great experience. I was pretty excited to check out the Drink at Lakewood in Bismarck, ND. We arrived on a saturday afternoon to have a drink before dinner. I liked the high cealings and the patio right on the river but this place has the absolute worst service I have recieved in a long time. There was about 10 guests and one bartender that was rude and ever so slow. It took about 10 min to get our drinks. How long does it really take to pour a beer. The bartender had horrible customer service skills. When my mom asked what kind of beers they had on tap she pointed as if we could see all the way over there from all the way on the other side of the bar. She should of known exactly what they had on tap and politely explained that to us. It's not too hard to figure the serving/bartender business out, the more polite you are to your guests the more tips you will make. it's that easy, Not impressed... will not go back. read more

My husband and I love this bar. I see all the bad reviews so maybe it's just us. It's quieter most nights and we love to come out and have a few drinks and play some pool. They have a really nice outside patio area on the water with fireplaces that are perfect to sit next to on chilly evenings. They have DJs a lot and quite a bit of room for dancing both inside and outside. I'll admit sometimes the service isn't great but the bar itself is really nice and it still gets five stars from me because it's my favorite in town. I know that you can order food there as well, normally bar appetizers and pizza. We have ordered food here before. Their shots are good. Try the pond water shot. It's my favorite :) read more

Having recently moved here and had a friend visiting, we came to this establishment. Never again! Drinks literally ripped out of our hands at closing from behind us despite not being told five minutes earlier when ordering the bar was closing in five minutes. Then when asking for help explaining ride sharing could not find where I live where were pushed out the door to fend for ourselves. After writing to management in more detail, management dismissed my concerns and defended the bar disregarding the treatment of two women minding their business sitting at the bar catching up. Who rips beers out of someone's hand without nicely saying, "Excuse me, we are closing and we need you to leave." And more importantly when someone asks for help in YOUR establishment you don't help! It's where it's at... Chad can dance circles around that bar and never misses a beat-pretty sure no one has ever had to tell him what they drink a second time even if they haven't been back for longer periods of time. read more

Good drinks, awesome patio area in the summer, and decent live music some nights of the week. Service can be hit or miss.

I used to really like this place, but the service is horrible! We were there last night with a large group because they had a band we wanted to listen to, the place was busier than I have ever seen, but yet, they had 3 people working. We had a waitress take our order, and after 40 minutes, decided we better try and find our own. They were not prepared for a crowd, but should have known they would have one. read more

They have too few food items. They need hamburgers and not just bar snack foods. How about some type of sandwich choices. They need to check out the Pier Bar or Captain Freddy's for some expels of food choices. read more

I was also excited to check out the Drink in Bismarck, ND. That excitement lasted all of 5 minutes. The customer service was the worst I have ever seen. When the waitress was asked what kind of beers were on tap, she pointed to the bar instead of politely explaining them to us. It was pretty dark in the bar and there was no way the taps could be seen from where we were sitting. I will not be going back! read more
