Fun little place, drive in or dine in. 5 stars alone for their sides being made in beef tallow! Their burgers are super good. We for the cheese curds to share and I Got the mushroom Swiss on a burger bun. I would absolutely get this again. Their buns look homemade and everything tasted really good. No seed oils! I'm very impressed! I highly recommend this place. Don't forget to play mini golf afterwards!

Had a sit down late lunch/early dinner at the drive in on a Saturday night and we were able to get seated quickly. I ordered the turkey burger, it was juicy with a lot of flavor, I like that it comes with provolone cheese. The waffle fries aren't on the menu, you have to ask for them and it is a +$2.75 up charge and they don't have seasoned sour cream. I do love waffle fries so I had to have them, they were nice and crispy! I would say if you want to avoid bee's/flies, definitely eat in your car. Otherwise overall great experience!

Service was friendly and they checked on us often. The food was fresh but it lacked a bit in flavor. Still worth a shot if you're in the area and for nostalgia sake. Lots of covered seating. Car park service available around the building so don't try to park there if you're looking to be seated. The world's smallest sundae was just the right amount for me.

Found this place while driving through to WI. It was a beautiful day to eat lunch outside. This 50s vibe restaurant is next to a cute mini golf course. Our server was very good. I had a Chipotle chicken sandwich. The house made root beer was the best I've ever had. A nice scenic spot. Please tip generously.

Went here this past summer and absolutely loved!! This place is such a fun throwback! The old-school vibe, car hop service, and classic drive-in menu make it a great stop. The homemade root beer is amazing--super refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. I got a burger and fries, and both were spot on. The burger was juicy, and the fries were perfectly crispy. Oh, and don't skip the malts--they're thick and delicious, just like they should be. The staff is super friendly, and the service is quick even when they're busy. It's a great spot to hang out on a nice summer day. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Taylors Falls!

The service was absolutely great even though it was a pretty busy weekend. It took a while for us to be served after being seated but at least we were informed it will take a while for some service by the host. I think it's very cute how the servers dress up like if it was the 1950s! I will say, the atmosphere there being outside enjoying the weather and watching people play mini golf is a reason to come to the dine in and dine in but the food isn't really the best. These burgers taste very much home made and unfortunately lack in flavor with almost all the food we've tried there. We got two bacon burgers and the buns were cold, the meat didn't taste seasoned whatsoever, and in my opinion the onion rings barely had flavor. I wouldn't go back here to eat because the lack of flavor, but I would recommend their malts and root beer floats. My raspberry malt was so good. They make their own root beer and it tastes amazing! This would be a great spot to hang around and do mini golf, that's about it.

We had friendly, attentive service. Burgers were hot, large sized, and juicy with fresh toppings. Onion rings very crunchy and delicious! The root beer was sweet and creamy. Delish! Our hot fudge sundae hit the spot and was so delicious! Would definitely eat here again.

After our hike, my friend, her daughter and I decided to stop by The Drive In for a burger and to play mini golf. The place is retro, so it's a nice little throwback for those that miss places like this. Their root beer is house made and they do charge you more if you want it in the glass mug. Be aware that there are lots of bees in the outdoor dining area! If you get a root beer, you will have 2 at your table for the majority of the time. So if you're allergic to them, keep this in mind. I wasn't bothered that much because I don't really mind. I ordered the all American burger with sweet potato fries. I really liked my burger, it was incredibly tasty, meat was delicious and the onions in combination with the sauce were perfection. The sweet potato fries were a bit over cooked, in my opinion. They tasted a little burnt. My friend didn't like her grilled chicken sandwich, she said it didn't taste like much. Oh and you also get a coupon 2 for 1 in Mini golf with a meal, I believe it was with the kids meal? Anyway, I would totally return for the burger and ambience. Loved how laid back it felt, retro and closely located to interstate park parking lot. Street parking is a bit tough on a busy day btw!

Fun little stop over by the MN/WI border. Mini golf and some classic Americana (50's style diner) with drive up service Burgers are solid (we had mushroom and swiss) fries are good. Not a fan of the cheese curds they are a bit dry and they use yellow cheese. It's a nice little weekend stop over with the fam!

Stopped here after hiking with the dogs along the St Croix River. What a dandy little place! Current owners have had it for 35 years and family was working today as car hops. If you like miniature golf, they also own the course right next door. The Frostop root beer was a portal back to childhood and is made I. House. We had the All American Burger, Cheese Curds and Homemade Root Beer. The dogs shared the burgers and curds with us and they loved them too. Love the retro feel and the old time drive in ambience. A fun stop and would go again.

If you're looking for a classic drive-in atmosphere, this is the place. However, be warned this place gets crazy busy and the bees are awful. Service was good - everyone was kind and the food was pretty quick. It was nice we were able to get our appetizers before the rest of the meal! We started with onion rings and fried green beans. Loved the onion rings, green beans were just ok for me. They're in a more unique batter that's very thick - I wish they had been beer battered but that's just my preference! I tried a friend's root beer and that was the star of the show. I've never had a root beer that tasted so rich and creamy - a MUST try even if you get nothing else. I got just a regular cheese burger, nothing special. It was tasty but really only a small step up from a fast food joint. We also didn't get to choose how cooked ours were, so some people had more raw burgers than others. I tried a friend's fries and was super disappointed in them, tasted like freezer fries. For a place known for shakes, you would think they'd have great fries for dripping. Finally, we ordered a vanilla and chocolate malt. Vanilla was sweet, creamy and delicious! Extremely disappointed in the chocolate, it was barely chocolate (you can even tell from the color in the picture). At least the malt came through but it needed some Hershey's chocolate sauce mixed in or something. Overall, would come back for root beer, ice cream and apps.

Empty tables you're not allowed to use?

The hostess sat us and we asked the server to move us to some empty tables closer to the mini golf and small pond they had about 10 - 15 yards away. My partner and I thought we would enjoy it more than sitting near the dirty brick wall. The server said she would ask the hostesses- returning shortly later we were told "There is a long line at the hostess desk. We're really busy and want you to stay here". Besides the fact that we waited more than 30 minutes for two hamburgers and did not get napkins, I proceeded to watch the tables stay empty for the remainder of our meal. I snapped a photo of the empty tables near the end of our meal and a few minutes later I was informed our server had changed to a new girl. Overall, a pretty disappointed by the experience. I would have accepted the truth that maybe moving tables is a hassle, but lying to me just makes me annoyed by the situation. In business - especially food service - the customer experience is king. And unfortunately for this place, the experience is more of a court jester.

Fun retro spot with solid burgers and shakes. The outside patio is really nice and overlooks the mini golf course and scenic highway. Staff was also super friendly. The buns were surprisingly bigger than I expected, but the burger overall was good. Crinkle cut fries were okay- not mind blowing but still good. Apparently they make their own root beer- so that was a must have for me. Be aware that if you sit outdoors, you may be chased by bees/wasps because the root beer was that good. Overall, I had a great tome (minus the wasps) and will definitely stop by again next time I am in the area.

(We had already tried the standard burger at a pop-up they had done and it was amazing.) The food was fantastic! It might look like slightly smallish portions but it really was plenty of food and really tasty. The flamethrower burger was very spicy, which is a nice change from burgers that just put a spicy mayo on or something. This had layers of deep heat and you get it from the second you bite into it. It's not the kind of obnoxious heat that makes you cry and struggle through in pain, though. If you like spicy food, you'll love this burger. The pickle burger was my favorite. It has pickles, pickled red onion, and creamy dill ranch. All of that balances out the richness of the beef. It's such a great burger. The kids burgers seemed to be full size but we're just a simple cheeseburger. The fries portions were on the smaller side but not too bad, and they tasted good. The tots were great. Drinks are canned soda or bottled water. They do have some beer also. It's all counter service, so you can take it to go or sit at the tables outside. But they also have picnic blankets hanging up that you can use to sit on the grass in some shade. Be aware that this is NOT fast food, so you will have to wait a little bit for you food, especially if it's s busy. But it's not an unreasonable amount of time. Compare it to ordering and waiting at any sit-down restaurant. Overall, this is amazing food for St. Croix Falls. We live walking distance away and will probably visit frequently!

Was driving through this town and saw this tiny little spot. Figured this would be an experience,…read moreso I slowed down and turned around. While it's a small little place with walk up ordering and with only a few outdoor seating, the food packed a punch. I'll start with the main event. The flamethrower burger was delicious, just mouth wateringly delicious. I wanted another immediately. It's got the heat as would expected but it's manageable, by no means is it that obnoxious heat. Patty was hot and juicy with melted cheese and crisp yet soft bun. Man now I want another. Curds were as expected. For some reason they covered them in salt after they are pulled from the fryer. Now that may be a local thing since curds are the state staple. However it was just overwhelming with salt. Flavor was there so I'd order again would just ask to hold the salt. Same goes for the onion rings. I'm picky with my rings but the breading was nice. Not too thick and not to thin. Nice flaky batter again heavy on salt. I would most def stop here again for a burger.

I don't know who if anyone was managing but whomever it was wasn't doing their job. We joined our friends for dinner there. We sat down, and no kidding, after 15 minutes of not even acknowledging our presence we had to ASK to put in a drink order!! I mean the place wasn't busy at all, and there's no way they didn't see us. It took another 10 minutes for them to take our food order, and then after 30 minutes, and watching others who came in after us getting their food, we asked about ours...they forgot to put our food order in and blamed it on the printer in the kitchen. If it was the printer then why did others get their food?!? So they lied on top of it. Then the four people who ordered burgers got their meals, but they forgot me because I ordered a bacon chicken ranch wrap. When they brought my wrap after I had to ask for it, there was NO CHICKEN in the wrap! I was so hungry I ate it anyway. But really?!? Where was the manager? More importantly where was the owner?!? Neither one gave a damn about us! We won't be back. Even if the food is good, and the place is clean, awful service ruins the entire experience. BTW - we tipped our server well anyway...
