My wife had a burger was perfect she let us taste it. Daughter said hers was ok. I went there specifically for the fish because Dave makes the best fish fry around and he serves it everyday not like allot of others fish fry Friday only. Nope Dave's fish is epic and he has malted vinegar behind the bar. Again one of the few places. FYI if your selling fish and don't know Google long John silver. They had malted vinegar on every table. So asked for my 2 piece fish. Also malted vinegar. Waitress said she looked they don't have malted vinegar do you still want the fish. No I do not. She said I asked the other waitress and were out of malted vinegar. So she brought me a menu and I begrudgingly ordered a burger. Roymane burger. It was terrible. The meat had a rough taste. Like I said wife smiled and said taste mine taste like salt and pepper. She wasn't lying hers was one of the best I ever tasted. Now for service it's with a smile and the wait staff keep your glass full even if you're just drinking water. They have an amazing full bar and wonderful beer selection. It had limited seating, the staff was unprofessional, it was dirty, the food was horrendous and to top it off our card got charged twice. We were out enjoying our day in Taylor's Falls so were not in a hurry and raving about how nice of a day it was. Our positive attitudes and day were soon to be ruined when it took over 1 hour for our food to arrive and our drinks empty. It was further ruined when we were presented with the most lackluster burgers, ever: 1 single, thin, burnt beef patty with toppings thrown carelessly; stale, cold, bun; a handful of potato chips. The over 1 hr wait time doubled with a burger that makes Wendy's seem Michelin worthy in comparison made for one of the worst experiences I have had eating out. Ordered a couple of burgers and drinks for a Sunday lunch. Cajun burger was not as flavorful as I would have liked but the western burger was good. Burgers don't come with fries but rather chips so if you want fries have to pay $2 extra, which we did and meh. Had to douse them in salt. We came inside, they had blocked off every other table for safety measures. It stops right there. The waitress was literally in our face taking drink orders, no facemask. I tossed on my face mask to give her a sign. She came back to take our food orders, still closer than ever. We decided to sit outside as it was pretty cramped inside. None of the waitresses or staff wore facemasks, no sanitizing sprays/wipes in sight. The staff didn't wear gloves while Handling food. Don't think they even have them inside the "outdoor grill/kitchen". Food nope on the burger. I am pretty sure it is a frozen patty that came in a huge box a step above Fast Food but just one step. Over cooked, no juice dry as a bone and betting the bacon was reheated (bacon also extremely salty) do not recommend as we ate 4 hours ago and pretty sure that burger is cemented to my stomach lining. The Goat Saloon next door is sooo much better. We just thought we would give this place a try as it smelled good when we passed it on the bike and such a nice day to sit outside. The smell was better than our burgers. The only thing dryer than this burger is burnt toast or the turkey served in the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation movie... I came here with my entire family and I have never been more disturbed with the quality of food and the amount we had to pay for it. We waited an hour for the food to come out and it was cold the fish was brown and rotten the burgers were almost inedible. it was somehow almost full and only 2 people ran the restaurant. I stopped here this afternoon after hiking Interstate State Park. I had my dog with me. I asked the waitress if they allowed pets on their patio. She said no so I asked if she knew anywhere else in town that allowed dogs on their patio. She said she didn't but that she'd ask. So she popped her head into their outside kitchen. The man in there haughtily told me and the waitress no, it's illegal to have pets on the patio. I said that was odd because I do it often. I then got sternly told that it is a state law enacted in 2007 by the health department and that he had no problem showing me the law. I stated that I wasn't arguing with him...I was simply commenting that I thought it was odd since I do it all of the time. I was then told, again haughtily, that they must be the only place that follows the law then. Never again will I go here. Never. I asked a simple question. Made a simple statement about the answer. Never once did I argue, raise my voice or even act jilted. I accepted the answer immediately and just asked if they knew of any alternatives. Whether a law or not, I asked if dogs were allowed because I know sometimes they aren't and as a respectful owner of a well behaved dog I want to make sure I'm following the rules. The man I dealt with at Romaynes was rude, out of line and argumentative. I highly suggest you go spend your money elsewhere. It was the perfect amount of food. -Reasonably priced food (less than $12 for a drink and lunch) -Outdoor patio -Inexpensive beer (at least compared to the Twin Cities' prices that I'm used to) Cons: -Mediocre food. They claim to have the "best burger in the valley." My friend who ordered it would disagree. -Extremely slow service. It took over an hour to get our food (burger, chicken strips, brat, & fries). We finished our drinks well before our food arrived and the waitress didn't check back in to see if we wanted more. They seemed to be understaffed on the wait and kitchen side of things. We chose Romayne's even after seeing the low yelp score, because they were the only place within walking distance that had a nice patio we could drink beer on. Unfortunately the patio and the beer were the only nice aspects of the experience. We both ordered burgers and split an appetizer order of cheese curds. Probably 1/3 of the cheese curds were hollow, with no cheese in them at all, just breading. But even the ones that had cheese in them weren't that good, all very small, and they just tasted like typical cafeteria frozen cheese curds. To make it worse, the ranch and the ketchup they serve tastes like the cheapest off products they could find. They also give you condiment packets, like you'd get at a gas station if you ask for mustard or mayo. The burgers were pretty awful as well. Flavorless, over cooked meat. Buns that reminded me of high school lunches, and served with some stale chips on the side. Aside from the food, our server was kind and attentive, and the beer was cold and cheap enough. The draft beer selection was meh, the food quality was meh, and the service was double meh. Lots of Meh. We all had burgers, they were not consistently cooked. Our party of 6 waited 30 minutes before a waitress took our order for drinks and food. The drinks came out about 15 minutes later (one bloody, 2 bottles beers and waters). It was ridiculously massive, and was the type of burger that the toppings are possibly tastier than the burger itself. I head to Romayne's once a year to see my boyfriend's dad's band play at the annual city festival that they have. This summer, lightning struck the bar just as we arrived, there were firemen everywhere within minutes, and the show had to be canceled since there were tornadoes in the area. (I'd like to point out that we drove through said tornadoes to get there, that's how fun it is.) Since Romayne's is cool, they had the band back last weekend to do a make up show. I really love the bartenders here, they are no-nonsense chicks who I think I'd be friends with if I saw them more often. Very friendly, and always quick to spot the one in the crowd who's craning their neck to try to catch their eye and get a drink. (One of them served my dad blended margaritas all night without rolling her eyes once, which pretty much deserved a medal.) They have a food stand out in the "yard" (it is fenced in...) that serves the most giant walleye sandwich that I've ever laid eyes on, and their onion rings are fabulous. Didn't love the tartar sauce, but the sandy was so good it didn't need it. The fire pit was a nice touch, I've always only been during warmer months so I was quite thankful for it on Saturday night when temps were hovering around 40. Finally, I'd like to share the fact that the ladies' is a room with two toilets in it that are not contained by stalls. Nope, they're just freestanding in the room a couple of feet away from one another. Better hope you're in there with your best friend or sister! It's hilarious. (Yes, the door locks). There are already countless reasons to go to Taylors Falls, so just add this to the list the next time you're there. read more

It was a dark and stormy evening when we arrived. This is our second and final visit romayne's. Our first visit last year left us very disappointed , after sitting in a waiting room for over 5 minutes and no service. Upon our arrival I had to use the men's room, service was very fast. it may have more to do with this a female alone. We got our drinks an appetizer very prompt, warm beer. We had a couple of burgers and french fries , it tasted fine. To get a second beer I had to flag down the bartender who seem to be practicing his comedy act. I've been asked for a couple to go container and our bill, containers arrived very fast. but then I noticed he's back to the comedy routine and we don't have a bill. I have to go back up and ask for a bill, not really a major task but it should be brought to me. $42.89, I gave him 50 . we waited and waited and waited for my change so I could tip him . but he was too busy with the comedy routine, so again I had to approach him and I asked if I could get some change I could tip you. I was thinking about $8 so I'd have to give up a little bit more than my change but since I had to go through the extra effort $2 and possibly the quarter he dropped of mine on the floor. Fool me once shame on me fool me twice shame on you. I will never return! And such a nice looking place from the outside fairly decent inside. Stopped in for a beer and that was enough. My first impression of Romaynes was that it is a little rough around the edges. Pictures knocked off the wall, a broken light fixture above the pool table, and a loose door knob just to mention a few. My girlfriend also mentioned the strong smell of fryer grease. I'm guessing they don't get a lot of visitors during the winter months because the part they had open was very small. I think you could fit 30 people in there max. I'm sure its better during the summer months when the patio is open. read more

She proceeded to tell us that the burger patties were just made and didn't have time to drain the blood out so that is why they looked that way. If I'm not asked what temperature I'd like, I assume it will be cooked to taste best, which in no sane person's mind is well done, but let's assume it is--by the time it is well done, it ought to also be pretty well charbroiled. ;) We also went to The Drive-In on this trip.
