Then she tells me that my girl has been sent to a 3rd location that day, and wasn't there. She said it showed in the notes that I had requested her by name, but that I hadn't "locked her in." WHAT? No one has ever mentioned that terminology to me, and I've been a member for about a year. So now I've fought the traffic, driven a good distance, have parked in a parking garage (not my fave), and my favorite stylist ever, is not there, and no one has bothered to fill me in because I had not "locked her in." The lone girl there did my hair, and did a fine job, but it was a little bit awkward for both of us, as she knew how eager I was to have had my hair done by her colleague. Bonus: the blowout was very reasonably priced at $45 for a classic blowout. M. Studio is an Aveda salon tucked into the cute strip of the Shops at Porter East. It's shockingly spacious inside and incredibly dreamy: calming, plant-filled, lots of cozy seating, and knew I was in for a treat. A girl greeted me immediately and asked for my preference of water, coffee, or the special blend of tea only available at Aveda. I opted for the tea. The Aveda tea is very herby and not for everyone but I loved it, and it came for me adorned on a tray with a Dove chocolate - this spot is about all of the small special touches. Sarah sat me down and we walked through what I wanted in my blowout, noting my hair concerns, how the weather would affect the style, and what products I liked. I'm a hair product nerd and very familiar with Aveda products and Sarah is one of the few stylists I've had to truly understands how to use products tuned to hair type and style wanted, and I appreciated that she sought my advice for everything. Next up: a relaxing head massage, double cleanse shampoo and condition. While I sat, she also added in a little complimentary aromatherapy, hand massage, and weighted eye mask. The towel she wrapped around my neck after was nice and toasty warm; the whole experience was dreamy-levels of relaxing. We chatted throughout the actual blowout and though I'm not normally super chatty, Sarah was such a delight. My highlight color was brassy, chunky in placement and I honestly was embarrassed to even wear it down. I had to have it corrected by a color specialist and have had 2 appts so far. 1 more to go - so I don't ruin my hair. Had to cut off an additional 5 inches of hair due to how bad the color was. I told the stylist, Maggie, this - and asked for a partial refund. She said sure, by the end of the week she would. I sent a reminder on Friday morning, she responded saying she would do it asap - and she never sent anything. Then responded again around 6 pm saying she would send it and that it was a really busy day, yet never sent it even after that. Having a new baby, the holidays, and going back to work after maternity leave and now I have to find a spare 8-10 hours to sit in a salon (not an easy task) to have my hair fixed over a month and spend about $800. I think if the DryHouse cared about the fact they messed up, a refund would not have even had to be mentioned, but something that would be done out of courtesy. At this point, I'll just move on but wanted to share my experience.
