The location was easy to find and very clean and open with lots of natural light. Kelley what is super friendly and attentive to my requests for the cut. I don't think I'm too picky, and the only thing I really asked was to ensure I could still tie my hair up for workouts, so she was great about taking that and turning it into a great cut! She added some curls to my blowout to ensure that it would stay for a little extra time. I've never gotten a blowout before and was really happy with the results! The vibe was sticky and hot. Their AC was out of service so they had a big machine that was giving cool air. So they tried. I get a lot of blow outs for my mane. This was my worst experience of hundreds in my life. My daughter and I were in Nashville for a girls' trip, really enjoying the city and the incredible hospitality of everyone. I had made appointments two weeks before and the woman who confirmed the appointment was lovely. The day was hot and there were a bunch of bridesmaids when we walked in early so we asked if we could sit down. Kelsey at the front desk was so rude, and asked Kelly, also wildly rude, whether it was "a private party". I think they didn't want us to enter early? We were told we couldn't sit in the waiting area, so we went to sit by the shampoo bowls when Kelly actually rolled her eyes. Terrible start. My daughter was served by Juliana, who was lovely, made her feel very comfortable. I tipped her well and if you must go - see her! I had Kelly. She is stone cold and like a "mean girl" from high school. I tried everything to warm her up. My blow dry was terrible (and did not last until the evening - usually they last 5 days!) After I was done, Kelly proceeded to walk over to Kelsey while the two of them talked about me and giggled when I turned around. I have never had this experience in a store or restaurant, so it's not that I'm paranoid. In fact, I never notice people talking about me, but my daughter and I were astounded at how rude they were. I actually went here 1 year ago and had a great experience. So when my daughter decided to have her bachelorette party in Nashville I was thrilled that she'd scheduled blow outs for us and that we were going to The Blow Out Co. at The Gulch. We had 5 in our party. We were greeted, met our stylists and ushered off to shampoo. The products used are Kevin Murphy and I can't remember the other line but they are top notch. Prior to making myy appointment at this establishment I made it very clear that I had very curly hair and I would need someone who understood and was able to blow out and straighten my hair as desired . I was assured over the phone that they had a few girls that were able to accommodate to my needs, that all I need was to book the appointment and everything would be good. Today when I went to my appointment, I was greeted by the young lady (Chelsea) who was suppose to do my hair and she showed me to the chair she would be doing my hair at. As I sat down i began to explain to her that my hair did have a lot of product in it (it's a rainy day so my hair was in a bun, ladies you understand the lazy look lol) so in order to brush through she'd definitely have to wash it first... She assured me that she was going to wash it but she was just "feeling my hair" , any way as she continued going through my hair she began to ask me after I just stressed to her I had a lot of product in my hair, if I had any relaxers or chemicals in my hair!!!! GIRL NO I AM NATURAL SORRY MY CURLS MAY BE INTIMIDATING TO YOU ! Then, she went on to explain to me that in order to do "my type of hairr" she'd need extra time and if I didn't have that time then she would only be able to wash and blow dry without applying a hot tool to my hair... Now ladies , does this sound like a place thatt knows how to do natural hair ? I hate to even write a bad review because the staff was very sweet. However, the blowout was pretty terrible. For starters the tools that the staff was using looked like they were from a drug store. Second, the flat iron was so hot my hair was steaming the entire time. I am no hair expert but if the flat iron starts steaming when you make contact with the hair, I'm gonna assume it's way too hot. To make matters worse, my hair wasn't even straight. My hair was flat ironed in a zig zag motion. Lauren is a fantastic stylist. Honestly, I wish I could pack her up and take her with me when I wrap up my vacation here in Nashville. My hair looks fan-freaking-tastic. I've been to several blow-dry bars before, and I've never been as happy with how my hair turned out as when Lauren was done with me. They have great products too. I think they use Davines, which is one of my favorite shampoos. I lost my last flat-iron (I seriously have no clue where it went; I think it ran away with the dish and the spoon). I was hesitant to buy a new one, though, because I'd just purchased THAT one as a replacement for my 11-year old one less than a year before and hasn't been happy with it, but kept using it since it cost me $100. The lost iron had been a Paul Mitchell, replacing my old Paul Mitchell with the green plates after it died. But it did it have the same effect on my hair, and I hated it. I thought that they must not make the same sort of iron anymore. But they had it here! They only had one in their display so I'm glad I happened to be here at the right time. I also bought one of their shower caps (it has a terry-like lining on the inside), and some really cool double-jointed clips that I had never seen before. I was first placed with a hair stylist that wasn't very friendly and didn't know how to do a braid... He moved me to Morgan who was just going to do my makeup, but ended up taking over completely. She immediately offered me something to drink (anything from coke to champagne), I was late to my appointment due to traffic and just getting off a flight and she still made time to wash my hair and do a full blow out and style. AWFUL experience with the makeup stylist Taylor. She left our bride feeling rushed , uncertain, and overwhelmed. Taylor grabbed the brides face multiple times saying hold still because she only had 20minutes and got snippy because the bride wanted a lighter pink eyeshadow. Totally blown away! (Wink wink) with my hair and the amazing service I received. It was my first time at Blowout Co. (For a fundraiser that evening) but it definitely won't be my last. Carissa E. was my stylist and she definitely knows her stuff! I have fine, hilighted hair that NEVER holds a curl and I wanted soft beach waves and not only did do she did EXACTLY what I asked for, it lasted all night and the next day. (Without being all gooked up with hairspray.) She used this amazing texturizing spray that smelled like heaven (buy it!) and that must've been what made it work so well because everyone else's that had their hair done elsewhere, fell as flat as a pancake while mine stayed FAB!! The facility was well decorated and clean and I was offered a drink upon arrival. My stylist was not very friendly but that seem to just be bad luck because the other staff were enjoyable. I informed her that I was in town for a birthday celebration and was going to very nice Black tie dinner. Her response "so you don't know what you want?" She then sighed. Morgan did my trial and day-of HMU, and both times were fantastic! The wedding was this past weekend and I got so many compliments. My make-up, especially lipstick, lasted the whole night - no touch ups. I wore a headpiece and during the trial we did several variations until it worked just right. For the day-of, we had it right the first try! Morgan was great to work with - I let her work her magic with her expertise and she listened when there was anything that I wasn't fully onboard with. I would definitely recommend reserving services with Morgan! The booking with The Blowout Co. was also great - lots of communication and confirming with me that we had good days/times to ensure the same person for trial and day-of services. McKenzie did an amazing job! The humidity had my hair looking all kinds of crazy, but she was able to tame it down and give me beautiful loose girls without all the frizz. Easy online scheduling for same day appointment and very affordable ($40) compared to other dry bars I've been to in Atlanta.
