Got my hair highlighted for the first time in 2 years after having a baby. Spent almost $400 for a cut, temp color root coverage, and partial highlight. My highlight color was brassy, chunky in placement and I honestly was embarrassed to even wear it down. I had to have it corrected by a color specialist and have had 2 appts so far. 1 more to go - so I don't ruin my hair. Had to cut off an additional 5 inches of hair due to how bad the color was. I told the stylist, Maggie, this - and asked for a partial refund. She said sure, by the end of the week she would. I sent a reminder on Friday morning, she responded saying she would do it asap - and she never sent anything. Then responded again around 6 pm saying she would send it and that it was a really busy day, yet never sent it even after that. Having a new baby, the holidays, and going back to work after maternity leave and now I have to find a spare 8-10 hours to sit in a salon (not an easy task) to have my hair fixed over a month and spend about $800. I think if the DryHouse cared about the fact they messed up, a refund would not have even had to be mentioned, but something that would be done out of courtesy. Being an out of state bride, I had no choice but to postpone our date and Alison was extremely understanding and accommodating. I raised this issue with the owner, only to receive no response. Don't waste your money here. You are paying for a luxury experience and not getting a luxury product or good service. My friend and I came into Dry House on August 24. We have been to Drybar multiple times and have had positive experiences, and we wanted to try something local. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. We stayed inside after our blowouts, but our hair fell pretty quickly (within a couple of hours). I had a 10 am appointment, but let my stylist know that I had an event that night and that my hair needed extra curl and hairspray to hold. I specifically asked for tight curls, as they would gradually relax into waves by the night time, but instead I was given waves without hairspray, which fell out almost immediately. We were in the area, so we asked the receptionist if we could have a quick touch up to our hair as we were in town and had not brought a curling iron or hairspray. She said we could come, and they'd be able to fit us in quickly. We arrived and hoped to be squeezed in during the 5 minutes in between appointments. The receptionist told us we could buy hairspray if we wanted to touch it up. She did not offer us water. She told us that it was not guaranteed that we would have a touch up. She was rude and acted very uncaring that we had had a bad experience. One appointment did not show, and a stylist came up to the reception desk. We had to walk up to the stylist ourselves after the receptionist ignored us and ask her for the touch up, and she responded, "Sure!" We don't know why the receptionist wouldn't ask her, but it was rude to have us wait in the lobby and for her to not even ask a stylist to touch us up. If this was not possible, we wouldn't have come back, and if we had known she wouldn't ask, we would have left without waiting. The stylist that retouched our hair was wonderful, and we tipped her for her work. It took 5 minutes to touch up both of us. We don't understand why it was such an issue. read more

Super cute blowout place for sure!! I went to the Dry House right after my flight landed in Nashville on my Beach party weekend!Scheduling was easy through Yelp, which I really appreciated. I made my appointment with two friends of mine as well and we were all able to book the same time slot which was very convenient. Being a Friday it was very busy, which is understandable, but one of the girls in our group was delayed about an hour which threw off the plan for the morning. Being that we had made an appointment, it was pretty disappointing at the time. In the end of the day, I would go back for sure with the thought in mind, that my appointment way not be at the exact time I booked. My stylist was super sweet and my hair felt great. The products didn't love my hair and ended up weighing it down the next day, but day one was great! Next time I will just ask them to use minimal products. Thanks, Dry house!! I was not going to leave this review, but after emailing the Salon to no response, I feel even more dismayed by the recent service I received. I'm a repeat customer to the Dry House. Over the last year or two, I've gone there for several blowouts and braiding appointments. In general, I have typically been pretty happy with my service. However, last Friday I made an appointment for a blowout and received horrible service across the board. My stylist ran 20 minutes late, which was frustrating but I'm not one to fuss about it. When he finally did come get me, we discussed a mermaid style blowout with waves and began the blowout. Every second of the appointment from then was incredibly painful. He pulled much too hard at my hair, and I had a headache for over an hour after leaving as a result. I spent most of the appointment trying not to cry from the pain. I receive blowouts for 2 reasons: 1.) To have great hair (more on that next) and 2.) To feel pampered and relax. This blowout was far from making me feel pampered or relaxed. When he had (thank god!) finished, the style was nothing like the mermaid style we discussed. My hair felt stiff and rough (despite using no hairspray) and looked dull and frizzy rather than shiny and smooth. Plus, the whole style went flat less than an hour after leaving. I had come in for a blowout for an event but ended up re-doing my hair, making the $54 spent a waste. I thought about returning to the Dry House to ask that my hair be fixed, but honestly I didn't want to sit through another hour of pain and had a flight to catch. I wrote an email the day of the appointment, hoping for an apology at least, but received no response of any kind. Clearly, they do not care about the experiences of their non-celebrity local regular clients. The two stars are for past, good experiences, but honestly, I am unlikely to return back after the most recent appointment. I advise others to do the same. read more

My hair is thin and straight and does not usually hold a curl, but she managed to give me the exact style I wanted--and in record time, compared to other stylists I've had around the Nashville/GH area. The Dry House is chic. I loved the decor and the ambiance as soon as I walked in. But I wasn't wowed by the services themselves. My blow out was kind of shapeless, so I worked on it a bit myself after I left. And the stylist was very heavy-handed with the hair spray - I couldn't get my fingers through it (did some work to improve that as well). All in all, I wasn't crazy about the blow out, but after I'd mellowed it out a bit, it worked. I also got full make up done - it was okay, but as she only asked me about two questions before we got started, I got the feeling that the makeup I was getting done was quite basic and not exactly tailored to my coloring or skin tone. Dry House is adorable, but I wasn't that impressed with the quality of the blow out or the make up services (especially given the prices)! I went with one of my girlfriends and we had a good experience at The Dry House. The decor is spectacular and the wallpaper in the bathroom made us laugh out loud. The staff was nice. Unfortunately, my wavy curls only lasted a few hours and I had to redo my own hair before dinner out that night. I have naturally curly hair so the hold is typically really good. I also thought it was a little strange that there were champagne bottles set out as decor, but we were only offered coffee and water at our noon appointment. I have been here several times and I have only had a good outcome once. I feel like I have to ask someone to actually do a proper blowout. They pressure you to do a normal blowdry/curl because it's easier. I don't want to pay $50 dollars for something I can do myself at home. I've had three terrible experiences here. Two of them were blowouts where I left with flat hair and curls that fell out after an hour. The second was an up-do for a wedding. It was a great gatsby styled wedding and I needed a loose side chignon in the style of the day. I showed them multiple pictures. I ended up with a very tight bun on the back of my head. When I complained and explained that wasn't at all what I requested the girl angrily called over a colleague. They told me they were now out of time and I was going to interrupt her next appointment. They then tore out some Bobby pins, roughly shifted the bun to the side and said that was all they could . It was $90 and hideous. I'll never go back here. read more

HORRIBLE! If I could give 0 I would. I have never had a blowout that literally made me cry in the chair. The start: I called the salon and was placed on a 3 minute hold, when the girl re-answered the phone she was confused as to what I wanted to do (book and appt for 2 people) Entering the salon: before I even got in the chair I asked if Joshua, my hair stylist, new how to work on extensions because 3 days prior I had put $2,000 of a new set in. He said he did. The wash: this is where I knew it was going to be a rough start the pulling/tugging on the fresh tape. The blowdry: #1 rule of extensions is YOU CANNOT use a round brush... it'll rip out the hairs, if not the extension its self. It was a continual ripping/pulling/slapping my head with the brush. The style: while it turned out great the curling was just as bad as the blowdry. How he didn't understand the pain I was in by saying "ow", "can you lighten up a bit", "ooh that's a little too tight", I don't understand. If you value your hair AT ALL DO NOT GO!! ~10 minutes in wanted to walk out. UPDATE: 3 hours later and my hair is ratty and flat! Again, I reiterate DO NOT GO HERE! read more

We scheduled appointments in November only to find out a month ago they lost our reservation. They felt bad about this so squeezed us in for 9:30am. When we arrived at 9:15 we were told the reservation was for 9 and we were late... but then had to wait. We then were served but only three of five got full blowouts yet all were charged the full rate ( not even the reduced group rate we were quoted). I personally asked for tight curls since my event wasn't until 5:00, yet i left with flat loose curls. For the price they charge the service should be much better. read more

i had healthy, virgin black hair that i wanted to get to blonde. i understood that this was a process to get to from the beginning as this was not the first time i've gone from black to blonde. after the FIRST bleach, my hair is completely damaged and breaking off from the top. my hair is multiple different colors, and i have to go to a different salon to get a color correction. one bleach of virgin hair at a professional hair salon that cost almost $400 (including tip) should have never led to a color correction or hair breaking off. my hair stylist would not take accountability for her mistake or give me any type of refund or apology. this could have been completely preventable. other stylists i showed were "shocked" and "appalled" that this happened at a professional salon as they thought i had done it at home, and they explained to me that this should have never happened at any professional salon, period. clients should not be treated like this. clients should receive refunds and apologies when the stylist has made a mistake. my new shirt was also completely ruined as bleach was leaked all over it which has never happened to me at a professional salon before. read more

The stylist was running way behind, and the salon messed up when they scheduled my appointment. I was going to an event that day (hence the blowout) and they ended up making me late to my event because of the scheduling issues. Also they never even acknowledged that they were running close to 30 mins late. They just sort of ... left me sitting in the waiting area with no explanation. The stylist did end up doing a good job with my hair. I just would not recommend going to this place if you are on any type of schedule or have anywhere to be after your appointment. I normally go a different blowout place in the Gulch that always does a fantastic job, always on time, and great service all around. I tried The Dry House on this particular occasion because they had availability when I needed the appointment and my other place was booked. What an absolute mess. We made our appointments in November because we were coming in for a wedding. Three weeks before the wedding we called to confirm our appointments and they couldn't find them. A few hours later our call was returned and they magically found our appointments at 930. Fast forward to today we get there at 915 for our 930 appointment. We were told by the receptionist that our appointments were at 9 and we were late. We were chastised for being "late". The people that did our hair were great awesome personalities. All of us were told we don't have time to do such in such because you were late. Which translated for a few people in the party to you get a 15 minute hair style for full price. read more

Loud hip-hop fueled top 40 tunes to the likes of Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, Disclosure, The Weeknd, etc. As a new customer, I easily made an appointment online and received an email confirmation (actually asking you to confirm your appointment, a day or two prior). I would have maybe appreciated a phone call from a receptionist, asking if I was coming in for a special occasion, how I found out about them, etc, or really any personal contact - however, I am just glad the appointment making process for a new client is so easy online! The pricing is listed on the website, $40 for a blow out - no hidden fees, no extra charge if your hair is long or thick, no nothing - $40 flat. I went for my first blow out at The Dry House Monday night. The staff is friendly, and they offer complimentary coffee, water, and champagne. My stylist, April greeted me and we chatted about what I wanted done with my hair. I did find it odd that there were no pictures of hairstyles like what is common at other blow dry bars, however they do have styles appropriately and uniquely titled via area codes & styles from major US cities - 615 (duh!), 214, 310, 212, etc! I was not having my hair done for an event that night, but rather for the next morning. I told my stylist that I wanted waves, so she opted for a tighter curl so that after I slept on it, it would be wavy in the morning. The shampoo and washing treatment was so relaxing that I almost feel asleep during it (ok, I was wiped out, but still). I loved my curls, but I def think she could have used the hair spray a little bit more liberally, as others have mentioned. My hair looked great the next morning, too! Also, The Dry House has blow out packages available - per the website - discount on 4+ (don't quote me!). The stylist was trying to not wash my hair, then when I convinced her to- since it was what I was paying for- she tried to curl my hair when it was still wet. I had to ask her to finish drying my hair first. Once she started to curl my hair, she burned my head. At least offer visual references for the different types of styles available. I just got the 'yeah I know what you want'. Which turned out not to be what I wanted. My hair is long and curly and didn't feel smoothed out. And barely had body on the bottom. I had to flat iron and smooth when I got home. Let's put it this way. The Dry House started off well. They were welcoming, offered water and have a chic space. However, the actual blow dry and style were not good. My friend and I had to completely restyle when we got back to our hotel. It wasn't like we were asking for anything complicated. I asked for half up and half down with curls and lots of volume. There was no volume so, I requested more. My stylist did attempt to correct, but it looked the exact same. My friend also wanted half up and half down she had an egg head, if that makes sense. Came in from out of town for the Stanley Cup Final and needed my hair done badly. I couldn't find any drybar locations in the entire state, and then I remember seeing Lauren Akins posting on instagram about The Dry House recently and we all know how flawless she is so I figured I'd give it a try!! Was running a few minutes behind after a crazy morning and everyone there was so friendly and accommodating! The interior is gorgeous, and very clean. I had Ryin and she is the best. She's friendly, fun to talk to and made my hair look exactly how I wanted it. They also gave me a shower cap to protect my hair in the rain!
