Stopped in for a pint of Guinness on my way back from a tour of TD Garden. I've had a lot of Guinness in my life but for some reason, unbeknownst to me, this was the best Guinness I've had in my lifetime. Maybe it was the extreme care the barkeep did with the pour? Anyway, the brew, the head and the taste were perfection. Pretty cool tap to for pouring your Guinness. I had their Irish Seafood Chowder which came out piping hot and full of seafood. Great stop on my way back to the hotel. Highly recommend for the food, the pours and the decor

The Dubliner in Boston had a really fun vibe, especially during trivia night. It felt less like a standard trivia setup and more like a Family Feud style game, which made it way more interactive and entertaining. The questions were creative and kept everyone engaged the whole time, not just the usual pub trivia format. We also tried some of the bar snacks, which leaned more traditional Irish. They were simple but interesting, and felt like a nice change from typical bar food. I did hear that Ed Sheeran was here once too. Fun spot if you want something lively but still laid back.

First visit, traditional, Irish pub, except I feel that it was a bit sterilized to appeal to the general tourist public. I had the Beef & Guinness Pie with the sides of carrots and mashed potatoes and an extra side of broccoli. Great comfort dish along a side of a draft beer. Lots of food options and service was overall adequate.

We definitely enjoyed dinner. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a pub in Ireland. The food is delicious! We're had the Irish chowder as an appetizer, the lamb shank and the chicken & leek pie, and drinks. It was one of the better meals we had in Boston. Our only complaint was that the service wasn't remarkable. On the flip side we did go the evening after St. Patrick's, so I wouldn't fault the staff if they were just tired. Highly recommend a stop and I imagine the outdoor seating is fabulous during the warmer months!

Yay! I loved my brunch at the dubliner and I would certainly be back if I am back in the area. The service was top notch even though they were quite busy. I got seated on a little side section by myself and felt like they took great care of me. I was looking for a full English in the area and couldn't find a place that did it with black pudding which is what I was really after. So since I had not had a full Irish before I figured I would give it a try. It did not disappoint. While there are a few differences between a traditional full Irish and a full English, mainly the Irish will typically have a white pudding the sausage is a bit different and they won't have hashbrowns or beans normally. Or bubble and squeak. This one thankfully DID have beans which I was thankful for! It also came with two eggs, tomato, mushroom, soda bread, bacon, black and white pudding, and home fries. I don't love hashbrowns unless they are the thin sliced ones so these weren't my favorite but everything else was delicious. The puddings were AMAZING I wish I had easier access to this where I live. Everything else good. I was very happy with this. I also ordered a scotch egg which I had not had before. It's like a fried meatball coating a soft boiled egg. They served it with applesauce. This was delicious! Can't comment on the actual bar unfortunately I don't drink a ton and was just there for breakfast. But I heard people speaking in thick Irish accents and the place was crowded. The ambiance of the restaurant is a typical Irish bar with lots of memorabilia all over the walls. The bar is average sized at first glance but if you go to the restrooms you'll find it's MUCH larger than it seems at first glance. You can walk in with a pretty large group on a weekend and likely get a table. Overall I loved my brunch here and I would be back!

Located across the street from Government Center, The Dubliner offers a classic Irish pub experience. The fish and chips is great. The batter is light, and the fish is flaky. Highly recommend.

Braised beef hash and eggs

Came here to watch a Manchester United game and eat brunch and it was pretty good. I had the "braised beef hash and eggs" which was basically corned beef hash and my partner had the shepherd's pie. The beef was good but nothing to write home about, and my partner really liked the shepherd's pie. We both had spicy bloody Mary's that were not spicy at all, but were okay. Guinness pour was flat unfortunately, which surprised me for a downtown Irish pub. Server was nice, but not around much, the space is huge with multiple rooms, so sometimes we had to wait. Ambiance for the game was fun, we sat by the projector and it started to fill in with some fans and was pretty packed by lunch time. Would return to catch another United game at some point here.

I just went to The Dubliner for the bar scene, so I have no idea what it's like from the restaurant perspective... not that I generally like to order food from places that are more so bars, but if they got some good corned beef, I'll have to try it! Anyway, I had a solid time there and was happy that the line outside moved pretty fast. The bouncer had an Irish accent, which added to the vibe. All in all, this is your classic Boston Irish pub. Gets the job done.

While exploring Boston we stopped in The Dubliner Irish Pub for a bit of lunch. Great place close to the government center and also located on the red brick "Freedom Trail" for those who have been to Boston. Service was great with a friendly smile. The room definitely gave me that Irish Pub feel surrounding a great full bar. Our server took our beverage orders and answered any questions we had, came back with the beverages and took our food orders. Food came out hot and plenty, truly enjoyed every bite The menu offers a great lunch variety and something for everyone including many Irish entrees and dishes. Well done The Dubliner we will be back! Bravissimo e Mangiamo!

Beef & Guinness pie - tastes great but made me bloat up within an hour

This is a bit of a rocky review. While in Boston I had to hit an authentic Irish pub with real Irish food and not that generic bar food most Irish bars serve like potato skins and stuff. I especially am always on the hunt for a great Guinness stew - one that is dark black and mainly made with Guinness and not reddish and mainly made with tomato sauce. Well, this place had an amazing Guinness stew. We also had an amazing Guinness stew pie, which was just the stew in a pastry crust. The fish and chips were huge and great. My half & half was poured just right. We had to pay for bread as an appetizer, which I'm finding is more common and totally lame. Anyway, everything was great right? So why not 5 stars. Well, I would've but I ate here on the way to the airport to head back to California. Well, a few minutes after being seated on the plane, we both suddenly bloated from something in the Guinness stew and the flight was incredibly uncomfortable, though luckily we didn't get sick. I would go back if I was in Boston and recommend. Just make sure you're going home after in case you get bloated or do get sick. Otherwise, kudos for a properly made Guinness stew.

Pork Chop

An wholly underwhelming dining experience. Stopped in here for lunch and got the pork chop. It was cooked well done and not overly flavorful itself. The sauce was on the salty side and the large chunks of al dente roasted apple did not pair especially well and felt out of place. The accompanying mashed potatoes were unappealing due to the watery grainy texture and severe need for butter and cream. I had bites of my other friends foods which were all fine but nothing that really stood out. While the flavors did not wow, the portions were large. Service was good. Overall I was not particularly impressed.

Daytrip to Boston on a super snowy day. Almost everything was closed, fortunately the famous Dubliner was open! Super hot shepherds lamb pie, smoked salmon, and delicious chowder to the rescue! The service was solid and we enjoyed the classic Irish pub vibe.

Day Boat Fish and Chips, haddock, triple cooked (like a steak fry) mushy peas, tartar sauce, curry sauce at the first bar.

The food was BLASTA!! I had the Day Boat Fish and Chips, fresh haddock, mushy peas, triple cooked fries, tartar sauce, curry sauce, homemade ketchup.... wow... so, so good. The curry dipping sauce was delicious. I loved everything as did my boyfriend. He had the burger, which he will review...(its good) his skinny fries were so good too! We loved this place! The staff was friendly and our food came fast. The vibe was great! It was beautiful inside and outside. We would absolutely go back.

Great service, great food. I was able to order a GF vegetarian Shepard's pie. My only issue, insanely loud and crowded.

The place was hyped up online but when we got there, it was not what we expected and just went right back to AT O'Keeffe's for dinner! Although I don't eat burgers cause they are too filling, I ordered the smash burger. It was delicious! The calamari was so perfect! Best I've ever had. We also ordered the chicken wings and had to try the fish and chips. Everything was amazing. The only thing we didn't really go for was the clam chowder. Even though it was more authentic then some other places we had it at for our Boston chowder marathon, the potatoes were cut too big and it wasn't as thick and creamy as we like. Again, Thank You Darius for being such a great server! We appreciate the quick service and attention - from 5 hungry girls on Friday night!

The walls tell stories, the lighting is comfortably dim, and the place feels genuinely lived-in rather than styled for Instagram. It's the sort of space that invites lingering, conversation, and a pint or two more than you planned. The food is solid if not exceptional, hitting the marks you expect from a Boston institution of its kind. You won't find inventive plating or culinary surprises here, but that's not what JJ Foley's is about. It's a place that trades innovation for consistency, which in itself has value. The main drawback comes when the place fills up. Service becomes noticeably strained, and something as simple as getting a drink refill can take long enough to test your patience. When it's quieter, the staff are friendly and attentive, but at peak hours the experience slides from cozy to crowded. Still, JJ Foley's endures not because it's perfect, but because it knows exactly what it is: an honest, old Boston pub that's still standing tall while others try to chase trends. It's imperfect, familiar, and worth the visit.
