This place is a complete scam - it is overpriced and useless - they promise you the world and before your first week they try and milk you out of more money at $50k/month to stay longer. I was dumbfounded as it was highly recommended by a family friend's close friend and I am convinced that kick backs are occurring because I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. Half the staff are amazing and half the staff should be committed. There was one lady named Mary who is probably the laziest person I've ever met. She ate all the patients food - wouldn't be accommodating if her life depended on it and tried giving me experimental medication that another patient was on multiple times even after I pointed out it was a different name on the pill box her only comment was I can't see without my glasses. Joe is a piece of work - I'd use profanity expect I think yelp would block it out and say I'm not reviewing the place but rather using personal opinions against the owner who repeatedly says "I'm not making any money". His wife walked into my room while I was naked. THey broke confidentiality on a daily basis and I ended up leaving early because I didn't feel safe in this environment. Every person that I was in there with shared the same view of the place. However it was the only option on the east coast so I compare it to eating shitty fast food because it's the only thing that's open. If there were any other options they'd be out of business and I cannot believe they still operate. They used to be called the Safe Harbor Retreat but I can only imagine why the changed named...hmmmm...I wish I could give my personal contact so that I could give you a real idea about the horror I experienced here. Beware the sales lady who will tell you that there are 5 other people looking for the same room so you need to book now - yet the place was never filled. I'm still considering filing a complaint with the authorities because of the shady techniques they use to convince people to come which although in the past were acceptable, now are seen as predatory and illegal. Joe you are a thief with a capital T - you lie about what you offer - daily guided mediation and yoga - yoga is lying on your back and stretching once a week - mediation is after breakfast for 30 minutes while you are digesting your food and gym 1/day for 1 hour including travel time. I stopped trying to give my opinions because they were based on constructive criticism like - lets have conscientious scheduling - not having cleaning crews walking around the house during meditation and maybe doing meditation before eating so that your body can take the full effects. Some people are more athletic and need longer workout times. Personalized service to Joe means meeting 1/1 and other than that everyone doing the same thing and any time you complain the response is - just listen to us. I left there and it has given me motivation to open up my own substance abuse center helping people balance the mind/body/soul because if any one is out of alignment it allows oneself to fall out of routine and go back to the dark place that none of us wish to enter read more

The Dunes East Hampton is the BEST place to go when a person wants to get sober. Unfortunately, the Dunes was not my first rehab; however, it is my last! The owner, Joe, is a power of example. I have never met a rehab owner who cares so much about each individual client and their families. Joe walks the walk and talks the talk. He is the real deal. a genuine man. From the admission process, I was treated as an individual, not another 'number' in the computer. The admissions director, Diane, was gentle and kind, she guided me through the process. The Dunes inpatient facility was immaculate. Their holistic wellness program of acupuncture, healthy eating, exercise, mindfulness, etc.; added an entire new dimension to my recovery. I feel that this holistic care was not just 'advertised,' the education I received was fundamental. The evidence based groups were led by well-educated clinical therapists who identified my personal strengths and worked with my recovery issues. The Dunes inpatient was full and each client received personal care. On Sundays my family even visited! Diana's equine therapy was something very special. I have done it before and really didn't want to do it again. However, I went. Diana has a healing effect with the horses and clients. She creates fun games instead of traditional therapy along with equine therapy to help with addiction and other emotional issues. For my family visits, Carolyn, Clinical Director, helped to rebuild damaged relationships that my drinking had caused. She uses 'Internal Family Systems'-my family was NOT talking to me when I arrived at rehab. I did not call them, they knew where I was and that I was safe. I turned the 'family' therapy over to those who knew better, in other rehabs it had not worked. Carolyn was awesome! She was like Yoda! My family actually sits, talks and listens to one another today. Dr. Kardaras, inspired me with his awareness and intellect. He has this remarkable ability to teach about addiction, lend an ear if you need to talk or just answer a random question. I can't mention the Dunes inpatient without the Dunes outpatient. Annie is a treasure. She has this talent to understand what is going on within a person. Annie is unrivaled. Debbie specializes in DBT. She offers care, attention and inspiration to everyone. Her knowledge in DBT is evidenced by her orignal handouts and group activities. When I left the Dunes, the alumni co-ordinator was vigilant in continuous 'care.' I am forever grateful to The Dunes East Hampton for my sobriety. Thank you for giving me back my life. read more

I have just celebrated 6 months of sobriety and thought I would take a moment to express my gratitude to those who gave me my foundation and put me so beautifully on the road to recovery, the staff at the Dunes of East Hampton. My experience at this phenomenal facility changed my life - I didn't want to leave! I arrived there- my life a disaster, my relationships in tatters, and unable to stop drinking and drugging no matter how hard I tried. Upon my arrival I was met by staff members that put me at ease and showed nothing but concern. During my stay I was treated with great respect and dignity while I was educated about this disease and met with my incredible team of counselors and therapists. There were only 8 of us in residence which was the maximum for the house and the staff outnumbered the clients. The facility was upscale and beautiful, my room incredibly comfortable and private and the food consistently fabulous. My cohorts and I became a family while in treatment and we remain in contact to this day. The treatment at the Dunes was an intensive education of this disease and how the issues in my life contributed to my use. Today is 6 months of continuous sobriety for me, I have a new way of life, and I owe it to the foundation and information I received from the incredibly qualified and loving team at the Dunes. I agree with Sean L. this facility as they call it "A DRUG AND ALCOHOL REHABILITATION CENTER" is inappropriate and lacks the ability to make important resources for their clients. I too was a victim of their scam and fell short of addressing situational factors that held me in my addiction in the first place. Is this not supposed to be one on one therapy and/or counseling? Then why were my issues not addressed so I can live a productive life style out of fear, specially fear of the unknown. I suffer from many mental health disorders due to trauma since early child hood .. "but" this is a dual diagnosis center? Then "why" was I treated like a criminal rather than a human being? I would not suggest this center to my worst enemy and personally I would rather be in my addiction then obtain "help" from this facility! Thanks for my awesome experience.. read more
