One of my absolute favorite places in the world. I've been coming here for years since moving from Tx to Ok for college. The Earth feels more like an escape than it does a Deli. The whole property feels like a smile, with a gorgeous patio and back garden. The perfect spot to enjoy a sunny day and fill up on vegan comfort food. After trying almost everything on the menu, it's safe to say you can't go wrong. The owners and staff are some of the coolest nicest people in town who are involved in the community and definitely a pillar in the Norman restaurant scene. We were in town visiting friends and I desperately needed a green juice that was made with real ingredients (aka not smoothie king type of place). Service was great, although I'm going to be honest the guys working there seemed a bit too serious, but cordial. The gorgeous girl who took our orders was very nice. Love the environment. It kind of reminded me of health cafes I used to regularly go to when I went to school in northern Washington & while working in LA. So happy to find this place. It also serves as a mini health conscious store where you can pick up organic teas, clean house products, clean ingredients, etc. I asked for the most gut healthy drink I can order and was suggested their green juice, which was exactly what my body was craving. Love coming here whenever I'm craving something healthy and clean! I'm so sad I moved away from Norman, but my best friend and I used to come here all the time for our morning smoothies. First visit -- and unfortunately, our last. We stopped in after seeing good reviews and liked the eclectic, earthy "Eureka Springs" vibe. My two young adult kids and I were the only customers around 9:30am, so ordering should've been simple. Instead, the service was surprisingly rude. When I asked for a visual comparison of the two juice sizes, the server aggressively tapped the menu and sarcastically read the sizes. I clarified, "I understand that, but can I please see the sizes/cups for comparison." She threw her hands up like I'd pointed a weapon at her, shook her head, and mockingly replied, "Well yesssss ma'am," before stepping back, grabbing the cups, and waving them around as she named each size. I said, "The 8 oz please." She moved toward me again and said, with attitude, "Let me bring them closer so YOU can SEE," then repeated the performance. Again, I said, "The 8 oz please." She put the cups away, turned back to me, waved her hands around, and mockingly said, "Well yesssss, good morning to you too." When my daughter went to order her coffee she continued to be curt, along with rude interrupting. We would've left on the spot, but we were on a schedule. The food was okay, but the lack of professionalism overshadowed everything. The floors and shelving near the kitchen were also noticeably dirty, which didn't help the impression. Overpriced. I regret giving them our business. I genuinely wish the experience had matched the reviews, we normally love places like this...but based on this visit, I can't recommend it. Then we got one of every desert and sampled them at our leisure. The Orange cake was the star of deserts, but all were exceptional. I have to eat GF now and they had a huge selection--it took me a few minutes to decide but I got a combo lunch with a cup of Earth chili and half the grilled Moonmaiden cheese sandwich. the chili was amazing--full of flavor and veggies. The Earth is a Norman staple. Even if you aren't a healthy eater. We order once a week, my current fav is the southwest salad. Tip: parking is in the back. Unless you have a tiny car don't try to park in front or you will be sticking out in the road. Service is pretty fast, if you eat in its counter service, refill your own water, and bus your table when done. I went to The Earth Cafe today for a quick to-go lunch. I ordered The Ricky (salad with antibiotic and hormone-free turkey, greens, sprouts, olives, tomatoes, feta, and avocado). It wasn't quick, but the deliciousness of the salad more than made up for the wait. They were busy with in-shop orders and take-out orders because the food is so good. They ran out of the honey mustard dressing I ordered, also because it is so good. They make it fresh, with local honey. I went with the roasted red pepper vinaigrette, and was not disappointed. The service is not always fast, but it is always kind. The feeling is comfortable and you can tell The Earth has tons of regulars. This place is a gem and it always has been. I loved how you automatically question this place from the inside and out. It has a rough but natural vibe to it which I find intriguing. Their menus has a good variety from breakfast dishes to sandwiches to comfort food. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough "meat" on my Ruben and the price was a bit steep. The atmosphere was cool, customer service great! I wanted a healthy desert; and this review is solely based off of the two deserts I ate. The lavender cake was not flavorful it tasted under cooked flour, and the icing was gritty and oily tasting . so I went back to try another desert, lemon blueberry scones. The cashier hyped up the scone saying it was her favorite and it's taking everything out of her to not eat one! At first bite of the tip of sone it was good, but when I broke it open the dough stretched and was wet which means it was still raw dough. The line got long so I just threw it out and gave up on my sweet tooth. So I don't recommend the desserts. This place is funky and fresh. Yes, I know that sounds like a hip hop duo from 1992, but it's true. Southwest salad is excellent, and though the thought of veggie chili on top of mixed greens didn't sound all that appealing, I took the advice of my fellow Yelpers and gave it a shot. I was not sorry. It was super flavorful, perfectly seasoned and surprisingly hearty. Creamy avocado, fresh veggies, crunchy chips..it just all works. Get it with salsa instead of dressing so you don't hide all that flavor. Also had a banana, blueberry, and peanut butter smoothie with almond milk. At $6 it's pricey, but, wow, totally worth it. Atmosphere is hippie hipster, but I saw more than the college crowd here. The layout makes ordering a little awkward, especially if it's your first time here. Just walk up to the counter where the seats are and grab a menu. After you order you can grab a nearby table or stay seated at the counter. If you are a vegetarian or healthy eater, you will adore this place. If you're not, it's still has lots you will like. Do not fear the veggie. read more

I've been a fan of The Earth since...what...the 70s? I very rarely go back to Oklahoma, but when I do, I make a point of eating their always-awesome food. I've seen this place go through various incarnations through the years and I have to say. I really miss their Campus Corner location. Now, they have a teeny, tiny eatery in the old location on Flood Street in Norman. The second you walk through the door, you know where you are. The scintillating aromas of the herbs and spices give you an instant nose high. (That isn't really a thing. I just made it up.) The food is amazing. Absolutely amazing. I recommend the fake chicken salad sandwich on 3 seed wheat bread., but I always order sliced avocado to go with it. The juices are nice and fresh, but I wish they'd put them in a cocktail shaker with ice for a second before they serve them. Sometimes they're a little bit warmer than room temperature. They're always delicious, though. The no-bake cookies are just like mom used to make, and that phenomenal Rose Cake is the best cake I've ever tasted anywhere EVER. I think they're wrong not to put out a cookbook containing these recipes. It wouldn't hurt their business at all. People don't like to stay home and cook all the time. They'd still go to eat at The Earth. It would just make them more famous. Fortunately, I found a recipe on Pinterest that is very close...but I'll still order it from The Earth forever. Great place. The rating is strictly food alone. It was delicious !!! Daughter had the vegan Reuben. Hubby had the vegan flat sandwich with chili. I had the half tuna sandwich with the chili. We all loved our food! You order and pay for your food at the counter. Have a seat outside and they bring it out to you. If they have a meal plan for university students, my daughter would choose to eat here every day since they are only about a mile away from the OU campus. It is in a very old house with overgrown bushes on the front. Might be the only business on the street. If it wasn't for Google maps, we probably would have drove pass it. It is a natural grocery store/restaurant combo with a very hippy vibe. There is no indoor seatings; however, there are ample seatings outside on the back patio and garden.
