This gym is really cool and they have something for everyone there. There were people hanging in range from kids to adults and difficulty levels that suit everyone. There was a bouldering area where you're not harnessed in to anything and then other walls with varying difficulties where you are harnessed in. The gym was moderately crowded but we never had to wait for a wall to climb. There was also a groupon for first time climbers that included gear rentals too. read more

The Edge is a rock climbing gym in the Miami area with some auto-belay walls! I'm by no means a professional rock climber but am such a fan, especially at this gym. I like this spot specifically because they have the auto-belay option, meaning you can climb on walls without the need of having someone belay-certified to help you. They have day passes available as well as rental gear (shoes & harness) if you don't have your own. They also have things like chalk and chalk bags available for purchase. Pro tip: they have a Groupon available for daypass + rental gear for $25 or two or $50! The walls are good for all levels of climbers, from kids to adults! I started rock climbing when I lived in Orlando. When I came down to checkout this place I was amazed to find that they have auto-belays! The Orlando location I had been to didn't have that option so if you're a climber without a buddy to belay you, this is a great place to go! The staff is super friendly and always ready to help and answer any questions. I'm still a beginner so my only complaint is that they need more beginner friendly routes. I used to come to this gym many years ago (when it was once called Xtreme). It was great then, and it's great now. I still remember all the things they taught me, with a bit of a refresher, of course. First, safety is their top priority. They make sure everyone that visits either knows how to belay or put on a harness. They have auto belays, too, which is nice if you're going alone. There are plentiful climbing options for the novice to the expert climber too. They have a gym, too, for those that wish to take a break from climbing. The staff is approachable and easy to talk to. I love coming to the Edge! After finding them on Groupon, I became a member since I enjoy the changes to the climbing routes, friendly staff and patrons, variety of routes, and overall experience. New people can try climbing with equipment rentals and auto-belays with safety overviews. You can certify to learn how to belay (do assisted rope climbing) in 30 minutes as well for a low cost. The space is wide and open, with weekends being the busiest time. You have a lab upstairs gym for members also! Friendly staff, a ton of auto-belays. Not many climbing options in Miami, so maybe being a little generous here with the stars in that context. Nice little climbing store on premise with all the basics a new climber might need. Minor dings: Can get a little overcrowded during peak hours when big groups of kids come for parties. Routes could be updated a little more frequently. Some areas feel a little dingy. Could use some more bouldering. At a specific boulder grade, only a few routes to send. read more

I visited the Edge on a Sunday afternoon. I'd been to this gym before, when it was under different management and a different name, but it had been years so I wasn't sure what to expect. The main thing: they allow street shoes on walls. That means the grease and grime, bathroom floor, dog poop lawn, gross everyday shoes are stepping up the same walls your hands are crimping. I was horrified, and to top it off, only one of their two bathrooms/hand washing stations was functional. No sanitizer stations or other ways to clean off whatever you touched. The plus side, there's an entire training area upstairs, and a well-stocked shop area for your indoor and outdoor needs. I really liked the overhanging roof section, and I look forward to bringing a belay buddy back so I can try leading those routes. The boulder area was also well marked, and I liked the small cave they designed in the big wall area. Also, the autobelays are plentiful - I counted 13 different stations, and they ranged from 5.7's to 5.12's. The starting holds were well marked, and I always appreciate when routes are color coordinated. Grades were pretty accurate based on my experience, and it was great to recognize the slight difference between 10d's and 11a's. Other gyms I've been to tend to have + and - instead of the letter gradients that seem to be used for outdoor grades. But the walls are no more than 30-40 feet, tops. I wish they were taller because I wouldn't love a lead fall from these shorter heights, but I like that one of their slabs are slanted like some crags are outdoors. Unfortunately, this gym lacks any crack climbs or rock realistic routes without plastic holds. And, I happened to be climbing at the same time as a large 30+ group of excitable preteens who would release the autobelays without clipping them into the banners. I saw 5 separate occasions that staff and good Samaritan's climbed up to bring the clip back down. Yes, kids will be kids, but there lacked staff/parent supervision while kids ran around under climbers and/or screamed their lungs out. I ended up helping young climbers unclip themselves because there wasn't a staff member attending to the party (or there was just too much happening). Not a great look, liability-wise. I would visit again when I'm back in the area. The day pass (with my own equipment) was $20, and had I brought my student ID, I think there was also a small discount (also for first responders, teachers, and the like). But I would not go out of my way to come back to The Edge. read more

This is a great place to spend time with family and friends It's a challenging workout that all fitness levels can enjoy would highly recommend for people of all ages. Really enjoyed this gym. We went during the week so it was kinda empty which was great cause it was my first time we got there when they opened around 1 pm it started to fill up so if you want the place almost to yourself go early trust me if you like any kind of out door work outs you will enjoy this even though it's indoors 10/10. I have been a member for several years. The new (members only and punch pass holder) training area on 2nd floor has leveled up the gym in excellent fashion. The bouldering is of great quality and the flooring is of quality plush mats with some crash pads to supplement dicey attempts. They say bouldering is king, and this training area is fun and will level up your overall climbing. Thanks for the hard work and investment into the gym that feels like a community. Great place for a different type of workout! They gibe you a quick 15 min. Class where they tteaCh you what you need so you can rock climb on your own. The overall facilities are good, but the air quality is very bad. You can smell sweat as soon as you walk in the door, unlike those traditional gyms. My friend got an infection between his fingers the night he went back, and was diagnosed as a mite bite. read more

I've been coming to Xtreme for 4 years now. One thing I can say: this place always tries to be better and continues to improve basically every month. The route setting is getting better, the quality of the routes is getting better, they just updated the weight lifting area on the second floor. It's a wonderful training facility with a community that will make you get better and take you climbing on some real rock! PS. Toxic masculinity is not a thing here. This place rocks!!!.......a friend and I wanted to do something different since we're both avid adventurers, we decided to check this gym out. We purchased the Groupon and it worked perfect. As soon as we walked in we we're greeted by a friendly gentleman named John.He was extremely informative, explained everything to us provided outstanding customer service a rarity in Miami. The whole staff was great as well. As far as the climb talk about good times. It was so exciting yet very challenging. Trust me when i say this place is no joke. I probably worked muscles that i haven't used in eons. I came out with sore arms and legs but it was well worth it. I felt like Hercules when i made to the top of the wall lol. The gym itself is nice and spacious. There are certain sections that are off limits unless you're a certified belay. But there was still plenty of spots to climb. You can take a class to become a belay if thats something your interested in. Another great thing is when you purchase the day pass you can come and go when you please. So if you want to leave, grab some food and come back you can. I would definitely recommend trying this place out it will be a memorable experience guaranteed. read more

I have been rock climbing for a little while now and each time my brother and I go we have no problem with proof of having a legal document proving that I am his legal guardian but today we drove an hour to get to the edge and not only was the location terrible, the access for parking terrible, and the gym it self dirty but the guy at the front desk wanted proof that I was his legal guardian I told him I don't carry around the legal document proving it and he said "well you should" We where in and out of there in less than 5 minutes we filled out the waivers online the previous day and all it said we needed was our IDs the customer service at this place is terrible the location is terrible and it is an unhygienic gym. read more

This gym is great! It caters to everyone from beginners to advanced. I took my 6 year old daughter here on Saturday morning at 11am with another family. I had bought my entry with gear rental online and filled out the waivers online ahead of time for both of us, they said next time I can buy both of our tickets ahead of time which would have made our entry even quicker. They fitted us with our gear and showed us all the safety tips we needed to know, then off we went! My daughter had a great time, I got to do some climbing, and we are excited to go back even with the long drive out there! Next time, I would bring more snacks and lunch since you can stay for the whole day on the day pass. There's nowhere to eat inside the facility, so I would plan to eat in the car since the parking is right outside. read more

Bought groupons for 2 adults and one kid to try out X-treme Rock Climbing. It included shoe rental, harness, and we were given a chalk bag, but Im not sure if that was supposed to be included or not. We were given basic instructions on how to use the auto-belay ropes and which walls we could and could not use on our first experience. This was not an instruction course on how to climb. It was a simple instruction discussion on how to use the carabiner and belays and have any questions answered. We learned this because there was an actual group of about 10 people that showed up after us that were getting full descriptions on how to climb best, what routes to use, and they had a staff member coaching them while they climbed. Still, we did fine with the little we knew already. Plus, great tips were offered by other customer climbers that we talked to. Everyone climbing around us was super helpful. We climbed all the automatic belay walls and even explored the cave to climb upside down. The place is massive and the walls are all very tall. Im afraid of heights, but was so focused on finding the best color route combo to get up fastest that i wasnt scared at all. Each wall has 2-4 colors from easier to harder. They are noted as 5.6-5.11. Start low and move up. We weren't able to use any of the rope walls, but there are chairs to sit and watch the more experienced climbers and learn a few tricks. There's a monthly membership option to climb and use the small gym upstairs but I think we'll keep this to a fun outing every once in a while. We're all sore today, but it was a sweaty, challenging, and fun workout that we'll gladly revisit again. read more
